Don't believe that. I've never EVER had plastic containers that wouldn't implode when fully closed. And I have tried 3 different types. Maybe if you intentionally modified them and somehow heat-bent a part of the edge. But that could make it less contam-resistant :shrug:

:whathesaid: I tried some that I was told wouldn't as well but they exploded in the PC. After waiting until the pressure dropped to 0 psi and the lock dropped I opened it and the ones that didn't explode, imploded. Easy cleanup but it sucked wasting time and materials.

I'll just stick to pouring my plates like a normal person.
I want to start using glass plates however.

The guy was saying that when snapped closed they were still leaky enough not to implode. With such a small rim I am suspicious of the claim that they are then contamination resistant too, though.

Also everything could be totally accurate when written years ago, but no longer true today if the supplier has changed things.

Anyway they are so cheap that if I pursue pp5 containers again, I may try them. I'm trying glass currently, gotta see how I like that first.

Big tip for next time is to let the PC cool down way more before opening it. The sudden change in temp, plus the dirty outside air can really stress test those filters. The hot air inside the cups shrinks and it'll suck in air. Plus your cups will come under much more force which may warp them. I've actually had glass petris pull a vacuum and implode inside the PC after I opened it up right after the pressure dropped. In my opinion it's always a good idea to let your PC cool down to room temp before opening if you're not in a hurry.

Thank you, I know I should have waited longer, but the suspense was killing me. The filter cups are perfect, the holy grails did well as long as the lid wasn't too tight. I covered it back up and I am letting them cool off more gradually.

We all know that feeling... :grin: This should go in the Cultivation Confessional thread but if I'm PCing jars, I'll still open my PC before it's totally cooled down because I'm too giddy to check them out 9/10 times. Just to have the jars stand there for days before inoculating. I still do it after all these years :shrug:

Ok, aside from some excessive condensation, it looks like they all survived!!:rofl: Now to let them be for a few days and hope for no contamination.

I was concerned about that, fortunately none of the vented cups collapsed. The only problem I had was with a few screw tops that the tops were screwed down too tightly. The lids were concave, but not completely collapsed. Hopefully I'll dial in my technique over the next few times I'm going to do some transfers tomorrow and see how that goes.
