I would like to join!

I will be attempting to grow Panaeolus Cyanescens BVI

1/12:  I inoculated 5 plates tonight in my SAB, each with 1 drop of spore solution from a spore syringe.  I used a sterile cell spreader on each plate to spread the drop of spore water all over the agar.

2/16:  the plates that I inoculated with a spore syringe never germinated, I threw them away today.  I have since then purchased a pan cyan BVI print, and tonight I inoculated six plates using the print.  I used up the entire print because it was so tiny.  I expect these will germinate.

Finally out of the gates with my Melmac and Yeti.  Swabbed agar trays today (first timer) and fingers crossed that I'll have some myc soon enough.  My agar was super stiff so don't know what that means, but time will tell.  I jammed the end of the swab in the agar on the last tray to see if that works.  I'll post an update in a week or two.

Poured a shit ton of plates anticipating T1 in a couple of days.  My recipe is delicious:

12 g potato flakes
8 g agar agar powder
4 g corn syrup
400ml water
3 drops of blue food coloring for Heisenberg

I also received 2 TAT swabs in the mail so I'm adding those to the mix as long as I'm not breaking LAGM rules.

Swabbed 3 agar plates with TAT. This time, left the swabs on the surface versus jamming them in the agar.  The Melmac & Yeti swabs I stuck in the agar aren't doing so hot.  I'm guessing they need air exposure.

Finally got T1 done on Melmac and Yeti. But no bragging rights on myc growth, as it was spotty like my underwear.  I had one decent plate of Melmac with the other two looking bacterial. Two out of three Yeti plates had growth and one didn't do a damn thing.

Did T2 on both Melmac & Yeti. The Melmac growth was rockin whereas the one of the Yeti trays was bacterial like my toe jam.  After the transfer, I had some oat grain jars ready to roll (Bod's tek FTW) so I hacked up some of the T1 agar trays and added them to the jars in my SAB.  While doing so, I noticed the jars weren't as dry as I'd like.  Oh well... I plan on doing LC eventually so I'll have to up my grain game.  Lets see what happens.

Grain Jars and T2 looking like a snack. Also, I tried a pasta sauce jar because I'm a cheap ass and wanted to try something new.  Maybe I'll spawn a new pastafarian variety (read: bacteria).

T3 complete on both Yeti and Melmac and I'm hoping this is the last transfer.  I also have some decent growth in the Yeti grain jar whereas the Melmac is plunking along slower.

Jar update - they all suck ass, stalled and got tossed in the garden!  Damn spaghetti jar did me dirty and the other ones as well.  So be it.

T3 of Yeti & Melmac and TAT T2 (got impatient) put in LC.  Updates coming in 2 - 3 weeks.  Also, confessional moment, I wanted some smaller LC jars and bought faceted ones by accident. Damn!  Hard to see the growth, but I'm sure time will tell.  Smoke em if you got em! :stoned:

Yeti, Melmac and TAT LC is done and was sent to grain today.  It's my first time making/using modified lids and I'm hoping the small micropore hole does its job, as the jars look far wetter than I'd like.

My jars colonized fast enough and I spawned them into shoeboxes--and failed to get a pic because I was balls deep in bigger fish to fry.  I'll get one soon enough and that's a damn promise.

Well, I'm behind on posting, but here are some colonized tubs!  They've since been picked, rehydrated and set up for 2nd flushes. 

Melmac - a wide, inconsistent variety of fruits and not the greatest canopy


TAT - my best canopy yet--in any grow I've done - Score!!  Also a pain in the dick to harvest.


Yeti - some decent sized fruits, but not a very dense canopy


I'll post 2nd flushes if/when they come!

We have lift off on 1/3 AA+ plates :thumbup: The one that germ’d was messily streaked with a scalpel, the other two each got a single drop of MSS and showing no signs of life yet.

Transferred the first visible growth over to two plates, fingers crossed it’s not mold :lol:

  • Ps. tampanensis is on T1 as of the 11th, looking beautiful for a first transfer!
    EDIT: Just did T1 -> T2 and T1 -> LC. :awesomenod:
  • Nat spores plated on the 11th have begun germinating all over!
  • The cambo and cyan colonies look suspect to me so I made up 2 extra germ plates of each yesterday.
    Will be tossing these plates if the new germ plates churn out nicer growth.



— 1/17 —
  • I really like how the tamp looks so I took T1 to cold storage slants as a backup.

— 1/19 —
  • Took the original T0 cambo to T1 even though it looks funky.
  • New cambo and cyan T0s are showing germination.
  • Nats are also on T1, nice quick growth.
  • Tamp LC is showing noticeable growth, mixed that shit up on the magnetic stirrer.
    I predict a week until LC2G.

Got plastered and did grain prep last night...
Ended up with 8 overfilled wet messes of WBS quarts, oops.
I hit 'em with some of the T1 tamp LC. :shrug:
Figure the WBS is getting trashed either way so might as well.
Transferred one of the new Pan. cyan germ plates to T1 now too.

— 1/24 —
  • Pan. cambo is on T2.
  • Tamps are on T3, tossed the T1 LC and made some T2 LC with lower nutes because the sediment was getting to me.
  • Nats are on T2, looking like they're gonna be pretty rhizo which is always cool.
  • All 8 of the shitty WBS quarts are showing tamp myc growth.
  • Swabbed three plates with Ghost so generously provided by Hillbilly!

From left to right here's tamp T1 LC recovering on shitty WBS, nat T1, and tamp T2.


— 1/28 —
  • More nat T2 transfers taken.
  • All 8 tamp quarts have been shaken at about 60-80% today. This was pure hell with how full those stupid jars are.
  • Cambos and cyans continue to look like hot garbage.
  • No germ from Ghost plates yet.


— 1/31 —
  • The nat is mixed with white mold, it's really giving me hell. Even more T2 transfers taken.
  • 6 out of 8 tamp jars reached full colonization today, slightly baccy but recovered from a shake quickly so I'm sending 'em.
    Did S2B 1:1 straight coir to spawn in 2x 20qt un(BOD)ified monos.
    Uncased, unlined, no top layer, compressed a bit.
  • The pan plates look like mold to me no matter what I do. Might remove them from my LAGM.

Here's a pic of one of the jars that's still catching up, a pic of one of the tamp monos, two pics of t1 nat plates with white mold present, and a pic of the new tamp LC which I plan to take to grains tomorrow.
The dusty stuff on the glass is not yeast or anything like that, it's a mix of starchy WBS mush from bad prep and that Bird-Kote stuff Pennington puts in their WBS:


— 2/3 —
Ps. cyan streaked today.
Final tamp mono spawned today.
2:3 instead of 1:1.

Still haven't made more jars, might wait a while.

— 2/10 —
First tamp pins coming in and tons of Ps. cyan germination!

All tamp monos pinned but they had terrible pinsets and a ton of weird mutants.
There was definitely something nasty in the spawn.
All three are now in the compost.

Ps. cyan and Ghost are now on t1.
Nats are on T3.
Prepped 10 new WBS quarts, not sure what I'm gonna do with them yet.

I noticed you’re using the little tiny agar cups sp its good to be on top of it, I’m using 100mm plates and taking it easy street since i have so many projects going at once.
