I'm new here, so hello everyone. I'll be doing all "albinos" for my first year and am excited to share my grows with you guys.
Cubes:
- Great White Monsters
- Albino Riptide
- APE
- Jack Frost
- Avery's Albino

1/1/23
Happy New Year to everyone. I am very excited to try my hand at a grow journal for the first time with you guys. If anyone has any pointers for me feel free to comment or shoot me a message. Anyways lets get down to the fun part!
Agar was poured on 12/23, I am still very new to to this so my pours aren't great. My recipe isn't perfect. Some have bubbles. Some have sediment. But its all a learning process, so I'm going to use them. I'll make prettier pours later.
Agar recipe is 5g Agar to 250ml Grain Water (I think) for all but one tray. One tray is just standard LME of 5g Agar to 7.5g Malt to 250ml Water. I have been having trouble getting my APE swab to germinate so I put one of them on LME to see if there is any difference.

Agar work on 1/1

APE spore swab, 4 trays 1 swipe 2 swab clippings on Grain Water Agar 1 swab clip on LME
AA+ spore swab, 2 trays Both are clippings on GWA
Albino Riptide spore swab, 2 trays Both clippings on GWA
Jack Frost spore swab, 3 trays 2 clippings on GWA 1 swipe on GWA
Great White Monster spore syringe, 2 trays First tray has 2 drops Second tray has about 2ml on it since I got a little excited
All are wrapped in cling wrap cut to about 1 inch strips.

LAGM 2023
MojaveMyc no longer lives in the desert! Watch me fumble as I get adjusted to growing in a new climate This year I will be growing Cubensis varieties Ghost, Phobos, Totoro Mak, & F3 of a Fiji x Gandalf cross I'm working on. I will also be growing Subtropicalis/Semperviva & Tampanensis var Cosmoplex.
1/1: I am hung over. Cult work tomorrow 1/2: Agar prep. I boiled 2 cups of wheat berries for three hours. Used two cups of grain water, 10g agar, & 1g nutritional yeast in my plates. PC'd for 1 hour @ 18psi. 1/3: Today, I put Phobos, Ghost, Mak & Cosmoplex to agar. Streaked 2 plates, buried the swab in the third. I will wait until my current semperviva and FxG f2 tubs finish to get those started.

Save me a Spot. Have to find some Spores so not sure what yet.
Still waiting on my spores to arrive but got plates poured today. Ready to go when spores arrive.
Spores arrived I will be running APE and Hillbilly
These grows are my first ever grows from spore.

Time for an update. Adding Lizard King, Redboy Revert and RW to the mix. All spores to plate on 1/18
LK has already germinated on both plates. Still nothing on the APES but we definitely have liftoff on the Hillbilly.

1/30/2023
Still Nothing on APE, Redboy revert or Rusty Whyte as of 1/25 so started new plates of each. Also did transfers of Lizard king and HillBilly
As of today the RW has germinated and the transfers are doing well. Sorry for the bad pics. too much condensation from my noob ass pouring too hot.

2/6 update
Hillbilly and Lizard King are almost ready for grain. RW T1 is looking clean but taking it to T2 before grain. Still nothing on APE or Redboy Revert

2/9 Inoculated 4 jars of rye. 2 with Lizard king and 2 with HillBilly from these plates. The RW is taking off rapidly on the T2 plates also

2/13 Myc starting to jump off onto the grain nicely. Hillbilly first pic Lizard King other 2. Second Hillbilly is doing well also but, no picture because the agar stuck to the jar a little high up and I have it tilted a bit so the grain stays in good contact.

2/20 update
Hillbilly and LK jars are going well. Shook jars on 2/18 to get them moving a little faster as the agar was stuck in bad spots in the jars. All jars recovered within 12 hours. The 2nd LK jar is way ahead of the others. RW and Redboy Revert plates should be ready for grain in a couple more days.
From left to right HB,LK,LK,HB

2/27 First S2B First Jar of Lizard king is ready. Everything else needs another day or 2. Gave them all a final shake yesterday and they are already recovering but this 1 was just too far along to wait. Spawned 1:4 in Shoeboxes. 1/2qt Spawn to +-2qt CV in each Shoebox.

3/1 Update Spawned the other jar of LK and 2 jars of Hillbilly. 1/2qt per Shoebox same as the First LK. Also did A2g on the Redboy Reverts so all of the spores that germinated are now either on grain or S2B now

3/8 Quick Update on Lizard King. The 4 shoe boxes of LK are doing great so far. The update is more about the differences between them. I had 2 separate spore plates and the 2 jars came from different plates. The Shoe boxes are looking completely different between the 2.

3/15 Update Lizard King wins the Race... First Pins showing on them with some nice little clusters starting. The 2 Shoeboxes with pins are 2 days ahead of the rest. From left to Right: First 4 are Lizard king from 2 different germ plates next 4 are Hillbilly also from 2 different germ plates. RW should be getting S2B today as well.

RW Jars prior to S2B

3/18 Veils breaking on first fruits already. Lizard King going to need picked soon.

First Harvest is from the Lizard King. Spewed spores overnight. This is officially my first harvest from spores->agar->grain->Bulk.

3/21 Update harvested 2 more shoeboxes of LK and the Hillbilly has pins. Probably be harvesting them in next day or 2.

3/27 Update Hillbilly have finished. 2 completely different looking mush between different sections of the germ plate. 1 was mostly tiny mush the other had beautiful large stems with huge caps though the stems were hollow.

4/2 Update Rusty Whyte is finally pinning in 1 of the 3 tubs.

Ok, just poured some plates, got my cultures ready. This what I’m working with. The PE and Malabar, gonna be from my own stock, and the others from vendors. Some are old, some are fresh. Everyday is a new experiment. Oh man, this gonna be fun. So we knock them up tomorrow then? Or after midnight?

Maybe a grow along will help me develop my skills.
Maz-print Jack Frost-swab Golden Teacher-print
All donated by this great community.
Happy New Year to all.
---01.02.23---
Late start, but putting spores to agar today, 3 plates per variety.

---01.05.23---
Germination in all 9 plates, a few more days and I should be able to make some transfers. Pouring some plates today in preparation as well.

---01.08.23---
Made T1 transfers today, 3 from 1 germ plate of each variety.

---01.12.23---
My T1 plates have dime to nickel sized growth, so today I made 2 T2 transfers from 1 T1 plate per variety.

---01.15.23---
Made two T3 plates from one T2 of each variety today. Grabbed the fasting growing mycelium from each plate.

---01.17.23---
Put agar to grain. 2x Golden Teacher, 1 Jack Frost, 1 Mazapatec. 1 Golden Teacher SSLC and 1 Golden Teacher T2 to soft agar. Had a pretty good buzz and was being rushed for dinner, so I dropped solid pucks in my grain jars.

---01.23.23---
Made some T4 transfers on Mazapatec and Jack Frost, haven't been able to get any good looking growth outta the other transfers so far.

Nocced up a jar of WBS with Mazapatec a couple days ago.

Decent growth on jars I nocced on the 17th.
Mazatapec

Jack Frost

Golden Teacher

Second jar of GT I'm afraid has some mold growth.

---01.30.23---
I've had to toss both jars of GT, and one jar of Mazatapec. They're in a planter with 2 jars of Escondido on the front porch.

Sent GT SSLC to 4 pints today.

Shook both my Jack Frost and Mazapatec jars that I have left.

I’m joining the grow-fest. Pan cyan ‘Estero’ Pan cyan (wild Florida)
Jan 3: I was sure I had a baggie full of PDA plates. Went to streak them, but they were nowhere to be found. Tonight's endeavor became pouring 22 MEA plates.
Jan 5, Estero: I swabbed 2 prints total 3 times. Each swab applied to 3 plates. It's been too long since I last started spores.
Jan 15, Estero: I took 2 transfers from each of the 5 best-looking spore plates. By Jan 18, most are showing mycelium growth.

I’m in. Didn’t finish up my last LAGM a couple years ago. Hopefully I make it to the end this go ‘round. I’ll be trying some:
Ghost Natalensis Semperviva
Update 1/1:
Ghost

Natalensis

Swabs to agar to kick off the new year!

The yellow plates are MEA 8g/ agar 8g/ 500mL water. The other plates are 50% grain boil water 500mL / agar 8g. I like my germ plates soft, but these seem even softer than I like. The agar is leftover from the last time I grew, almost 2 years ago. Maybe that’s the problem.
Update 1/4:
We have some visible growth on the Ghost plates! Nothing yet on the Natalensis.

1/7: Transfer time tomorrow!

1/8: Ghost transfers to two plates. I took the rhizo growth off the yellow plate. Nats still not germinating.

1/16: No germination on the Nats yet. Taking T-2 plates from these.

And sent the left over of the yellow plate to grain.

Finally some germination on one of the Natalensis plates! T-2 Ghost looking pretty nice. I’ll take a couple of transfers from the nat plate later.

1/25: Got some semperviva spores, and decided to drop some on agar for this round.

Hard to see, but already got germination four days in!

Ghost T-1 going well on wheat. We’ll give them a shake tonight.

T-2 looking good, too! Have to prep more grain tomorrow.

T-1 Nats looking nice also.

1/27: Semperviva germ plates showing some good growth, but also some bacteria. Pulled a couple little pieces of myc for some T-1’s.

Got growth on my second nat germ plate, and took a slice to T-1. Other nat T-1’s looking really rhizo.

Not pictured, but I sent some T-2 ghost to grain.
1/31 Last day of January!:
Taking some of my T-1 natalensis to T-2, and to some small grain jars.

Also took some transfers from these two semperviva germ plates. Avoiding that contam on the left plate.

2/5 Spawn to shoebox!

This jar of ghost on wheat went to a shoebox with 3 quarts of CVG and a 1/2” top layer.
Semperviva doing it’s thing.

Second update today! So I got a wild hair up my ass, given how long semperviva seem to take I thought I would try to speed things up. I took the plate pictured above, cut it up into tiny pieces, and tossed them in some sterile water in a 1/4 pint jar.

I shook it like a mad man to make some quick LI, and dumped into some muda bottles. Bottles have hydrated wheat, coir, verm, straw, and manure. Not what I’d planned on using for these, but it’s what I had left over from making bottles for pan cyans.

First time doing the bottle tek, first time running semps. This could turn into a real shitshow. I have a few backup T-1 semperviva plates just in case.
Did some things today. I’m dealing with some challenges. I have had quite a bit of success cultivating in the past, but now I’m running into a string of failures. Almost all of my shoeboxes and trays trich out when pins set in. I’m working in a new climate and new living situation. Spore load here seems high as there is evidence of some mold around some of the windows. This could be interesting. Anyway…
2/10 Update!
Took some transfers off nice looking T-1 semperviva plates.

Also did a poke to make some LC.

Also took some transfers from another spot of germination on an older Natalensis plate.

Sent three jars of Ghost on wheat to shoeboxes and some Muda bottles.

So now I’m waiting. Four shoeboxes of Ghost, four Muda bottles each of Ghost and semperviva. Natalensis on grain. Semperviva LC. I’ll be making more bottles next week, and crossing fingers I get some fruit before everything goes green.
2/19 Lost my first ghost shoebox yesterday.

The other three are still looking good, so fingers crossed.
Four Muda bottles of ghost have fully colonized, and now are fruited in a mono.

Semperviva bottles are not ready yet. Got Natalensis and semperviva LC taking turns on the stir plate. Semperviva getting close.

2/20 I guess the semperviva bottles were finished after all. Four of them are cased with verm and placed into the fruiting chamber. Also had a bit of Natalensis on wheat, so I knocked up four bottles. No pics today.
2/27 update!
Been busy with other stuff, new job, building my flow hood so haven’t been working on these much. Today I had some time for these. My Ghost shoeboxes are pinning!

Ghost bottles have colonized the verm casing. Semperviva bottles have not yet.

Natalensis bottles are almost colonized.

Clean semperviva LC test. Bottles I shot up last week will be good to go.

3/2 Update!
Natalensis bottles are ready to fruit. Myc looks like it’s trying to come through the glass.

This stuff is crazy!

Also squirted some semperviva LC to grain.

Ghost shoeboxes only threw up a few pins, but they’re fatties. More this weekend.
3/5 Update!
Ghost shoeboxes making some fat ones. Jars are Natalensis. Cased two with verm and two with coir. We’ll see which they like better.

Also sent some semperviva grain to two bags, and some nat LC to a bag. This is turning into me trying to grow a bunch of different ways.

3/17 Update!
Been a while, and things have been happening. Bags of semperviva are fully colonized and are getting cased tonight. One bag is wheat and coir, the other is wheat, straw, horse manure, and verm.

Ghost bottles put up some fruit. Cloning the big one tonight.

Second round of Natalensis bottles doing well. First set are cased and in the mono pinning.

More semperviva jumping from agar to wheat.

Semperviva bottles throwing up pins!

Still have nats in a bag nearing full colonization, more semperviva bottles just cased, and a ghost clone on agar.
3/25 Update!
Lots going on, but not much to show. I’ve got bags and bottles of semperviva and natalensis trucking along not pinning yet. I do have some ghost jars putting out some fruit.

These semperviva jars are working, but they are soooooo slow.

Also spawned a quart of nats on wheat to a shoebox. Things keep progressing.
4/5 update!
Semperviva bottles first flush. 60 grams and some caps on foil dropping prints.

Second round of bottles starting to produce as well.

Still waiting for my semperviva bags and Natalensis bags to pin. Nat and semperviva shoeboxes nearing 100% colonization. I think I’m done with ghost for now.
4/7 update!
Two more semperviva bags getting cased tonight. Cased a semp shoebox as well.

4/12 update!
Clones from my first semperviva and natalensis grows going to grain tonight.

Semperviva bottles still growing. Super slow, but beautiful little mushrooms.

I got a natalensis shoebox and two semperviva bags beginning to pin. Hope they’re picture worthy soon.
4/18 Update!
Crazy Natalensis shoebox.

Semperviva bottles getting harvested.

110 grams wet, and some caps to print.

Still going. Nat bottles seem to have stalled out, just slowly growing overlay. Semperviva is the star of this year’s grow. These things just keep giving fruit. I think they are my new favorite. Might even stop growing cubes.

More semperviva, this time from a bag grow.

More semperviva.

We still doing this?
Took my ghost spores to agar. We’ll see if I like this any more than the first go ‘round.

Also still running Semperviva. Four bags of my clone fruiting and making more grain from LC.

While we’re at it, I took 10grams of fresh Semperviva as tea the other day. So I went to spores to fruit to consumption in this thread. It was a great time. The inside of my home looked normal, a bit intense, but normal. Wood grain of my floors kept moving around, but that was about it. I looked out of all of my windows and the leaves hanging from the trees were green and yellow bats sleeping from the branches. They weren’t scary. They were calling to me. I wandered outside in a misting rain, and the bats/leaves took flight spiraling around me. In a blink they were back to their roost in the trees. I went inside, soaked but elated. It was an amazing experience.
