Here' s a bit of the pre-start

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 31 DECEMBER 2021
Who need to be drunk? Started to prep millet for the LAGM Mêlée. 10 quart and 4 3-qt bags of millet. Quarts were Crack's TEK and the bags were an 18-hour soak a la p9.
Set up the 75x. Forgot to close the stopcock for an hour. Got it corrected and didn't bother to add more disgtilled water to it. Then forgot it and went to a party. Ran the 75x dry. Exploded 2 bags. Ran it dry for hours and carbonized the millet.
SpaaceBaby indeed!

UMM, I might as well ask. Anybody in the mood to send some spores my way. All I have is humdrum varieties that I have already grown. I could always trade with those. Have ALCA, PE6, HUATLA, MAL...prints and spores
I've got a spare Texas Yellow Cap I can send your way

I've never run any albinos and thought an all albino giveaway would be neat and I just put like 6 leucistic varieties to agar last week. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to juggle 12 varieties at once, so you guys are all going to witness the shitness of my page

rince' grow v.2.022
KSSS
Species: P. Cubensis Variant: KSSS
Agar recipe: 10g Agar 10g Light Malt Extract 1g Nutritional yeast
BRF&VERM Puck recipe: ~50ml blended brown rice powder ~100ml vermiculite
1/1/2022 - Germination Hydrated spore and streaked 3 plates, but also made 4 BRF&VERM pucks because I've been having some trouble getting good growth from these spores.

1/2/2022 - Disaster I was awoken in the middle of the night by one of my cat and I instantly smelled smoke. Turn on the lights and my apartment is completely filled with thick white smoke. Run into the kitchen, and one of my cats managed to turn on my electric stove on full blast -- this plate I never use and I left the cover of my european pressure cooker that I was using during the day for sterilizing my BRF pucks. As seen in the picture, the thing caught fire and is destroyed, and my apartment now smells like burnt plastic.. Also, I had to air out all the smoke and I had to sleep with my windows opened, so I was also freezing..
Great fucking start of the year.

1/6/2022 - Package Day These plates are taking their sweet time, pucks are doing a little better though.. Sorry for the crappy pictures.
 Plate
  Pucks
GOT MY PRESTO BABY!!! I do miss my other pressure cooker though -- it was pretty nifty for prepping agar, ngl
1/21/2022 - Long Time, No See Sorry for scarce updates - I was super busy these past few weeks, I only just got around to my little LAGM project, and barely got around to taking a few shots.. The pucks turned out much better than the germination petris; I transferred from the fastest populated puck, and from the best looking stuff on the best looking petri (was not looking that great to begin with)
I've been trying to get some rhizo growth from this strain before, but had little luck so far... Might be the temperature (on the low end) or maybe it just doesn't like malt extract because I did get something resembling rhizo growth on the BRF puck.. Maybe I'll cook up some BRF or grain water agar ...

1/23/2022 - Quick Update It looks like the transfers from BRF pucks are doing much better on agar than the transfers from agar germination plates.

milkboysLAGMJOURNAL2.022!
Sup shroomies Happy New Year! Recently received these prints from a very generous member, this will be my first time working with PEAA and PESA. I intend to find a nice clone from each of these.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________AGARIn the nature of LAGM we start with agar so this thread will also start with agar. In the past I have used PDA with much success, currently using LME agar. Typically for spore plates my recipe is 2% LME and 1.5% agar, for transfer plates I up the agar to 2%. Nothing ground breaking here, although I do use ketchup cups which is seen as edgy by some. I like to let my plates sit for a week after pouring before I use them to ensure their cleanliness. Poured some plates 2% agar for transfers, sometimes I don't use food coloring but I really like blue January 1stFor LAGM I used the extra plates I had already. The blue plates in this picture are 1.5% agar and the clear are 2% agar. All four plates were streaked with a homemade inoculation loop made from a bread tie. January 3rdFirst sign of germination on 3 of the 4 plates January 4thAll four plates have germinated, now we wait January 6thTook a transfer from both PEAA plates. Didn't like my PESA plates, Ill be keeping an eye on them, but for the sake of mushrooms I streaked two more plates... January 15thTook transfers from PEAA T1 plates, and also took transfers from PESA ms plates that were streaked on January 6th. January 24thPEAA T2 plate will be going to grain in a few days PESA T1 plates, first plate will go to grain _________________________________________________________________________________________________GOING TO GRAINWill be using Oats because that's what I have at the moment they seem to work fine for me. Going to try Wheat in the future when I run out of Oats though. When I started I used bods oat prep tek. Gave me success so I have stuck with it. Rinse oats, throw in pot with water, crank that heat to high, boil for 20-25 mins. Check hydration before pouring into colander, when the oats cool off and stop dripping Ill throw them in the fridge overnight. I don't mess around with drying, this process gives me consistent results and its simple. Next morning load into jars and PC for 2 hours, 15 psi. I use synthetic filter disks with micropore tape on top when I go A2G because I've noticed an increase in colonization speed vs. unmodified lids. February 26thOne month after inoculation of grain. PESA had slow growth on grain, picture is after shake. PEAA colonized in that same period of time March 9thPESA has stalled out so I spawned the colonized PEAA jar in a shoebox, 1:3 with a thin toplayer, 100% coir. April 4th Flush 1 and 2

I think everyone who wants to play has been added to the OP with their own individual links. I'm still waiting to hear which varieties @arpeggiator wants to run but I'll keep an eye out for that so we all good
Some of these posts are already looking pretty awesome, can't wait to see how this all progresses!

I think I'll join, got my Natalensis print today just in time.
So put me down for Nats, and possible PEAA and APEU if I can find enough time to work with them as well.
I may not be able to get any good agar pics as I'm working with ghetto no pours in my limited space environment here with no flow hood, but I'll do my best. Look forward to joining you all, and thanks for runnin this shit Bigfoot!
-------------------------------- 1-8-22 update
Got germination on PEAA a couple days ago and took a T1 on that today.
Still no germ on the Natty's or APEU
--------------------------------
1-22-22 update
PEAA plate got some mold before I transferred in time, I don't make a lot of plates so I shelved that one along with APEU which I couldn't get to germinate.
Going to be working with just Nats and LPE now.
Nats went to grain a few days ago from a T2 and LPE from a T2 should be going to grain today.
Also took the Nats to an LC which is looking nice already.
Sorry I suck at keeping records and remembering stuff so this log sucks. Might get to posting some pics when I have something worth looking at.
---------------------------------
1-27-22 update
Natalensis went to a substrate today! Got damn those things are fast colonizing a grain jar.
2qts spawn, 250g coir, 1250ml water

All my grows gonna be in these bags cause I have like 100 of them left from years ago and don't have room for tubs in my house.
--------------------------
2-21 update
Got my first Nat pins today (3 of em lol) but the bag has a green mold I don't think is trich. C'mon nats fight that shit all I want is a clone!!!
Spawned 3 more Nat bags from some really clean looking grain jars I made from LC.
My LPE grain jars were all super bacterial but I spawned one a while ago anyway and it's still rockin.
LC's of Nat and LPE are looking great and I seem to have much better luck keeping my LC's clean than taking wedges to grain. I need to make a better SAB.
Anyway, stay tuned to watch Forrester keep failing!
 ------------------
2-23 update
Lots more growth and new natty pins in the moldy bag. Sorry for the shitty pics through a bag, I don't feel like opening the bag till it's more pic worthy. I'll get better ones at harvest time.
Man these things don't seem to give a fuck about some green mold.

------------------------
2-25 finally opened the moldy Natalensis bag for my first decent pic...

---------------------------------
3-12
Non-contaminated Natalensis bags finally pinning. Took 3 weeks from spawning to pin.

LPE 2nd flush. Did I ever post the 1st? Shit I suck at this.
Here's the 1st flush of LPE: 2nd flush pinning:

I'll go ahead and get this log started!
A little background on the spores I'll be using. I received some LC from a guy on IG. One of the cultures was unlabeled, so I grew out a sample on a BRF cake. The resulting mushrooms were a nice looking leucistic mushroom.
Here's the mushroom and print.

I look forward to putting it to agar on the 1st!
1 Jan This is only my second time starting spores on agar and I'm using a different technique, so hopefully I get a good inoculation. The first time, I made spore syringes. This time I used an inoculation loop to go directly from print to agar.

Jan 8 I just checked on my plates. 4/5 have clear growth I can see with my eyes. Nothing I can get clear pictures of yet though. There are one or two, 1/4 inch, rings of mycelium on each plate. I used an inoculation loop, and could not see any spores with my eyes on inoculation. So, I'm thinking it's because I'm starting with far fewer spores than from a liquid suspension from a spore syringe. Hopefully it'll be thick enough to get pictures of soon!
13 Jan Picture update! The mycelium is finaly thick enough for both pictures and transfers. 4/5 plates had cultures. I took a couple transfers from each.

17 Jan T1s are all looking good.

1 Feb I finaly got around to making my second transfers. All of my germ and T1s plates are clean, no signs of bacteria or mold. All of my T1s are tomentose. I picked the best three plates and took two transfers from each. Two were the closest to perfect circle of the bunch and the third was the fastest.
I didn't add any food coloring to my new plates. The mycelium on the germ plates started eating the color very quickly...which made it look like I might have some sort of weird contamination, until I realized what was going on.

9 Feb T2s are looking clean. I've got one more, but it's got condensation..looks good otherwise. They're still tomentose, but that's ok. I'm sure I'll see some rhizo when I put this to millet. I'll use the best 3 of these to inoculate one quart jar each....once they're grown out a bit more.

7 March I decided that I didn't like how my T2s were growing..... They're irregular and super fluffy. I kept waiting to see something I wanted to transfer, and it never showed up. So I decided to go back to my germination plates and see how they looked. 3/4 were clean with lots of interesting growth. The 4th had a small spot of something brown growing at one of the edges. I decided to take two transfers from the 3 good plates and start over at T1.
T2 plates - there are a couple more, but they look the same.

germination plates

14 Mar The new T1s are looking much better!! I've got one in particular that looks the best. I'll be taking transfers later this week.

19 Mar I took my T2s today. Here are the three plates from which I took 2 transferes each.

26 Mar Quick update, the new T2s look like they have very nice transfer options. I'm going to do one more transfer in a few days. I should have some candidates to send to grain from those.
I got a lot of condensation this round. I think I poured too hot.

30 Mar I've got several nice large sectors. I haven't seen any contaminants, even on the germination plates. So I'm going to go ahead and send wedges from 3 of the nice, large, rhizomorphic sectors to quart jars of millet. Here at go!

1 Apr I picked my best 3 plates, with large sectors of nice even growth. I cut a semi circle from the best looking sector, cut that into smaller pieces and transferred them to a jar of millet.

7 Apr I lost one jar to cobweb. Not sure how it got in there. But my guess is sterile technique on my part while transferring the wedges.

The other two look great! Moving right along. Should be ready to shake in another day or two.

10 Apr I gave the 2 remaining jars a shake the night before last. They're colonizing quickly now! I should be able to send these to shoe boxes in a couple days!!

12 Apr I decided to give Faht-locs a try! I'm following the instructions in his Using Ziplocs (Ziplocks) as Fruiting Chambers (FC) thread. Don't mind the purple in the picture of the jars, it's just running sharpie from spritzing the jars with iso.

9 May Nearly a month later and I finally have my first pins popping up!!

13 May FUNKY looking pins coming in!!

17 May The first, largest mushroom's gills are starting to turn colors. I think that means it's nearly ready? I've never grows mushrooms that formed like this. I do have several "normal" looking pins coming in.

18 May The big one is still growing! It's stipe is solid! The rest of that bag is looking crazy!! I've got a couple mushrooms growing on mushrooms, a couple growing upside down! There's so much going on....I'm not even sure where to start! lol!
The second bag is looking a little more organized....but just a little...

19 May I've got spore drop in the first tub! So, harvest time! Second tub will get another day or two.

My first triple digit!!!!!!!

AND! A cute looking plate pin!

20 May Holy fuck!!!! Those things stunk like rotting feet!!! I hope like hell they don't taste that bad!!!!!
20 May part 2 The second tub is starting to drop spores, so it got harvested today! I got another triple digit monster! It's not quite as big as the one from the first tub, but it's still the second largest mushroom I've grown!

The chonker from yesterday dried down to 17.39g. The total for the first flush from the first tub was 26.2.

24 May I cut out the marked section from this plate pin. I really like how the pin looks! Very PE looking cap and not mutated at all. I'll get this culture to grain after I make sure it's clean, with a transfer or two.

28 May Well, that pin clone failed...it was covered in mold spores! It rolled around the plate and left a trail of colonies....

The two fahtlocks are doing great! The second flush is coming in looking pretty normal! I had to remove the tubs, in order to re-use them on a couple tamp bags. So, I'm seeing some pinning on the sides.

31 May Holy cow!! The second flush was fast!!! The first bag is already dropping spores and the second was breaking veils. I harvested both and gave the cakes a soak in RO water for about 15 minutes, to re-hydrate them. They were feeling pretty light.

8 June This will be my last update for a while. I harvested the third flush from my second block today. The first block didn't push out any third flush pins. I'll give it another week before I toss it.

I took tissue samples from three mushrooms this flush. I took a sample from the largest, but with only one other mush in the cluster. And I took samples from the two largest mushrooms in the largest cluster. I'll eventually take these back to grain and fruit them again, but that'll be at least a couple months down the road. I'll update if this thread is still active.
