First time joining the LAGM!!

I’m a few days late but had no agar to germ on and didn’t have the time to make up some plates. Alas my time has come.


04.01.23 (DD/MM/YY)

My plates have been poured in front of the Ghetto Hood.

And my plates were germinated via Spore swab the very next hour! I swiped one plate and then stuck the swab straight into the second plate for both the JF and Mak :-)





10.01.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Alrighty! Since the plates were streaked and stabbed with the swabs I had been staying elsewhere looking after someone's dog. I got home late last night and had a peek at the plates! Mak still doing nothing but the JF! The JF has germinated REALLY REALLY well! Might do an early transfer tonight if i have time. If not then I will another day.



The aim for this is to make an LC as soon as i have a monoculture and then continue to do a couple transfers before doing A2G. whichever one is ready first is the one i will be using to first cultivate this.


13.01.23 (DD/MM/YY)


Alrighty I’ve done my T1 for the JF on above date (yesterday) but I was too tired to take a pic but I snagged one today. My agar seems really really soft so getting the transfer out of the germ plate was quite tough as it kept just mushing… was also using my SAB with really low visibility so that may have just been my fault. Anyways I did it and the plates seem clean with nice regrowth so far :-)

Okey dokey so i thought i updated this already but nope, One of two plates was having trouble recovering since the transfer. I suspected bacteria. Boy was i right. Im happy i did 2 transfers as the other one is looking great!

Hoping to cook up some grain and make up some LC jars. The one on the left will be made into LC as well as a couple transfers will be taken. Still nothing on the Mak.If i have time i will pour up more agar as i have gourmet plates that have been in the fridge for a couple months now. Hope with all the condensation bacteria has not decided to grow.



24.01.23  (DD/MM/YY)

Right so ive delayed the Transfer(s) from my T1 for far too long now. Unfortunately upon looking at the T1 plate i noticed that there was a bit of yellowing on the top of the Myc...bacteria? Hmm  fuck.



Praying my hardest that this was noting and ended up taking 3 x T2 transfers in front of the ghetto hood.
All transfers ended up being pretty messy as i must have messed up the agar and it ended up really soft. I Initially took 1 transfer and then decided two more couldn't hurt and this would use up the last of my agar so i could make another better batch. I also ended up finding some unused plates from my last batch which held up well.



as you can see from the T1 donor plate the agar kept sliding off my scalpel and sticking to the side of the cup. Was quite annoying. Im really hoping at least one plate takes off. I will finally take the time to make some LC for both my actives and my gourmet.

Here are my T2 Jack Frost contenders, There is again a slight yellowing on both plates but i cant seem to see any other growth on these plates so maybe its okay???



Im probs going to put the plate on the right into the fridge for storage and take transfers from the plate on the left from 7-9 O'clock. I will have 2 x T3 plates. Whatever they look like they will be going to grain (A2G) and be made into LC. Still a bit nervous with these ones. Really need to do an agar pour up this week.

05.02.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Right.
I dont know what the fuck is happening but bacteria is really kicking my ass. I found a very thin bio film on a fair few of the plates i was working on from my agar session on the weekend. I poured 12 plates and used a few to do some transfers.

Ended up with 2 x JF plates taken from different cultures. One was taken from the above on the left. It actually had stopped growing as there was bacteria elsewhere.



This became the "suss" plate. Funny enough it looks better than the other plate which looks like there is bacteria growing there too. FUCK


I didnt take the best pic but its to the right of the myc. Really hoping the "suss plate" grows out clean so i can work with it.



Turns out the suss plate is growing pretty clean so far and the plate that i thought was contam is. So im going to let the plate grow out and continue with that. Sucks but at least i have something to continue with.



13.02.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Cool so last night (above date) i ended up taking the next step with this grow. I had previously completed a sterilisation of a pint size NSNS WBS jar and that day also made up an MEA LC both for inoculation with my JF culture. Both the WBS and the LC looked really good and my culture was clean so i set up my ghetto hood and worked away. I only dropped one small bit into the jar which didnt actually drop, i had to swirl it through the WBS to pull it off my scalpel so its somewhat buried which is beneficial. The LC was the same, agar stuck to my scalpel so i used the edge of the jar to slide it off...didnt like that. Finally on top of that i did another transfer of the JF which is now T4. Im probably going to use the pint jar of WBS to inoculate 2-4 quart jars  of wheat for a quick G2G noc up.



Super excited for whats to come! I checked the LC this morning and the Myc has started to grow! its floating though which is annoying.



19.02.23 (DD/MM/YY)

My LC is now ready to noc up some jars! Growth on this was insane. I have only previously used honey but this time i used LME. I used 1.1 grams of LME to around 300ml of water. Used much less (weight to weight) of the LME than i would have Honey as its nutritionally complete. Worked a charm. Yesterday i PC 3.5 quarts of wheat. 1.5 quarts will be inoculated with the JF and the 2 quarts will be my regular GT. Not much happening with the A2G pint of WBS..





20.02.23 (DD/MM/YY)


Let me start off this entry by letting out a big sigh and following with a big facepalm.

Today after work I inoculated 1.5 quarts of wheat with my newly made JF LC. Actually getting some myc into the syringe was tricky as the growth was quite thick and my “agitator” (a bit of glass) was doing fuck all to break the myc right meaning I clogged a few times.  I ended up drawing up some LC and squirting it out before being satisfied and moving on.



I drenched my SHIPS, flamed my syringe and inoculated both jars. I was a bit high at the time and I didn’t see any bits of myc get pushed towards the needle when injecting 1cc of LC so I just decided fuck it and injected some more. May have fucked that right up but we will see.





At the same time I was inoculating 2 x wheat quarts with GT and I kiiiinda mixed up the jars before labelling them. All I know for sure is the have filled quart jar is JF. So yeah. All in all not a great cult sesh today..

24.02.23 (DD/MM/YY)

WE HAVE GERMINATION!!!



out of 4 jars of wheat that i noc'd up the other day, 3 are showing growth. I am unsure of what's what apart from the pint of wheat pictured as i know that is JF. Nevertheless, i am happy with how the growth is looking, hoping it continues to grow clean. Unsure when exactly the growth first became visible but i checked this morning and thats what i saw. happy days.


01.03.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Id love to say i let my jars sit and i fucked off without having a peak but honestly ive been looking at them twice a day. The GT jars i made up at the same time are a lot slower and have a different growth pattern so i have been able to identify the JF how good! The JF seems to be quite tomentose in growth but is doing okay and i will hopefully do a BnS tonight on both jars.



It has been much colder these past few days and i can see the colonisation speed has slowed due to this, Hopefully after my BnS i will remember to incubate the jars.



02.03.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Progress on the JF jars is great, wishing the growth was a bit more rhizo but eh. Jar 1 (smaller jar) was ready for its break n shake that i missed last night. I wanted to break up jar 2 as well but my partner is learning and that is her jar. Getting her to do the whole process (apart from agar work). I will try and get her to do it tonight before we head out and take some pics.

Hoping this jar finishes up mid next week to be spawned next weekend. As this is just over a pint of grain i think im just going to spawn this to a fahtloc, Its been a while since i have and i love the tek. I also dont have small enough tubs or containers for a grow this size. With a fresh culture of GT this tek was killing it (pint wbs).




I am planning to spawn the large jar to a tub i made for my Noob grow off competition that i hosted. This tub performed quite well if i may say so myself, just wish the tub was a bit taller.



Ill be happy if this works out well


14.03.23 (DD/MM/YY)


Its been a while since i have done an update for this LAGM. My two jars that i nocd up with JF are fully colonised and ready for spawning. They do have heavy condensation which i think is due to large temp swings and also due to the fact that its a touch bacterial.



I cleaned out my old af tub and spawned the large jar to it...maybe 1:3. Im not sure i don't pay attention to the ratio that much anymore. Cased with a 1/8 in psuedo casing. Same goes with the smaller jar. Spawned to a fahtloc and cased with the same.




Now we wait.

16.03.23 (DD/MM/YY)

I had actually spawned the tub and Fahtloc a day or so before my previous log so they have had the time to  do some nice colonising. The tub is looking awesome and the myc has started breaking through the casing layer. The bag has just got a couple specs of myc in the casing but is colonising well.



The tub has been FC since spawn, the bag had its holes poked through and had the top laid over to restrict FAE. I stood the bag upright this morning to set proper fruiting conditions. Super excited for what JF has to offer, my other GT grow in the exact same tub is doing fantastic and hopefully i see pins soon...on all grows that is


30.03.23 (DD/MM/YY)


Alrighty so good and bad news. The Fahtloc is not doing great, seems bacterial and it VERY wet. I have kept the bag open for 2 days now and it hasnt dried up. what is more concerning is ther is a patch of bluey-greeny colour on the bottom side. unsure what it is but i will keep the grow going. i will most likely quarantine it.

however in other news, My tub is going pretty good, id say it needs a tad more FAE but the surface conditions are looking neat. primordia everywhere. no pins as of yet. hoping for a nice flush and a good cluster to clone.






03.04.23 (DD/MM/YY)


Finally it happened! I got a pin! I am more than thrilled, i have never grown an albino variety before and this looks so cool even as a pin! I started a bit of fanning action over the past few days and its paying off. So far only one little guy but im hoping to see a few more when i get home from work.



In other news the Fahtloc suffered a hard contam and was kept outside to be buried soon. RIP

Another Pin spotted! These seem like they mature pretty slowly. The first pin has gotten quite big. I suspect that these both will grow rather large as the pinset is pretty aids so far...


11.04.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Alas the pin grew out very well! The second pin is also getting really chonky.


I ended up harvesting it and drying it the following day.

First fruit came in at 38g wet :smile:



Super shit pinset but nice sized fruits. As of today the second pin is pretty big and the veil is tearing. I also spotted 3 more pins.


In between all this drama i did surgery on the tub twice and now successfully removed trich (for now).


14.04.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Righto. I am the big sad right now.
I heard my mate pull up front of my house in his nice mustang and i tried to look out the window to confirm whether the rumbling i heard was in fact his car and i knocked over the tub and it landed fucking upside down and also open. the cake landed on the lid but removed pin number two (pictured below) and pin 3 which was only a little guy. I was fucking livid. I jumped up and down a couple times like a monkey in frustration. Yelled a few cuss words and then picked it up. So fucking mad at myself for this. The second pin was still not ready for harvest and came in at 31g wet (hollow stiped).



The cake is now cracked and probs will contam. there are two pins left on it. hoping i cam grow them out, dunk and get another flush. praying for a cluster.

Fuckin bullshit.



18.04.23 (DD/MM/YY)

awww shit muthafuckers!!! I got the green nasty last night!
The last two pins are still growing, the larger one has dropped its veil and the cap is now curling and the smaller one is growing so fucking slow. I cut off the small green spot and put the cake into a water tub. never ran one before but yolo.


However today i found 4 new pins coming in which i think is the second flush. Im going to harvest both of the last 1st flush pins in hopes that the second flush is bigger.




24.04.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Since my last update many more pins have surfaced on the cake. the water tub has been a huge success!
There are a few pins that are far ahead of the rest but im pretty pleased with this flush so far. not sure if the cake will be able to take all the pins to maturity so i may partially dunk later in the flush.





27.04.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Last night it was time to harvest the Jack frost. I could have waited another day or so but my FP+ grow was ready and i only have the one dehydrator. Most of the pins didnt end up maturing or ended up maturing quite small compared to the others. Biggest fruit was 60 grams. Took a couple swabs for the marketplace and cloned her. Total second flush weight was 269 grams wet. Currently drying out now.




04.05.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Fuck me, So the green finally came back with vengeance and the whole bottom of the cake was green. I went to go give them a bit of a fanning yesterday morning when i saw a tiny green spot in the corner going down underneath the cake. I knew that there was probs gonna be a lot under there and i fucking had another FP+ cake in the tub too. Fucking removed the cake indoors so hopefully i didnt fuck shit up. #Trashed

Luckily i took a clone before the grow died on its ass. The growth looks clean so far. Cant wait to get it back to grain. I made an LC from MS as well so hopefully thats clean enough to get me some more grows before the clone but im not sure.



26.05.23 (DD/MM/YY)


Mann i forgot to update this shit! I injected a bag this time with the same LC that left me with green once spawned previously. I actually inoculated 2 other bags as well with gt but i did the unthinkable, i put them on a piece of cardboard with a heat mat underneath. I came back to the bags a few hours later and they were HOT on the bottom. I quickly mixed all the bags to redistribute the heat to cool it off. I was hoping some myc didnt get cooked and i would able to save the bags. Cutting to the chase, both the GT bags recovered very poorly and the jf ended up making a slow recovery. Not surprising seeing and my GT LC is a bit bacterial and has since been tossed and replaced. Anyways the inoculation took place one month ago. Thats a while, the Jf looked ready yester apart from a few surface grains yet to be fully covered. So i thought. I shall do the final test. I did a break and shake late last night. I will spawn this bag on Sunday if and when it recovers.

06.06.23 (DD/MM/YY)


Okey dokey its been a while again since ive last updated this thread. I spawned the bag to a 30qt Ez dial  tub around 1:3 ratio with a light casing, i should have gone thick but eh. This new bag was spawned to the same tub i used as a water tub previously which was nothing but an ez dial 30 quart.

I spawned this on may 28th and its now fully colonised and consolidated, the myc is still thin all over but i don think ill get thick myc till i do my next JF clone grow.

The below pic was taken on 03.06.2023 (saturday) and is now fully colonised. This grow was spawned to fruiting conditions.





13.06.23 (DD/MM/YY)

Its now been a couple weeks since this tub was spawned and its covered in primordia! The below pic was taken aprox 4 days ago.


This morning i took a pic of some well forming primordia that looks like it might be a little cluster!! this may be the first cluster ive seen in 12 months! Very exciting!



In other news ive swabbed Yeti, p.Nat and a dirty GT swab from my first grow (swabbed a cap lol).
Lets see how it goes!

Bigfoots super mega ultra awesome LAGM


I've recently been the lucky recipient of quite a few awesome cultures but they're all cultures, not spores, so I can't run them in LAGM. You'll just have to trust me that they're super duper cool, and I'm super cereal! (They'll be in the marketplace once I get to that point).

ANYWAY, since I'm already going to run a bunch of cubes I'll put my skills to the test this year and do something totally new to me: Pans :cool:

Species: Panaleous cyanescense
Varieties: BVI (British Virgin Islands), Jambo, NecD

Since I've never worked with this species and they're rumored to be a little more finicky than cubes I'll stick with 3 entries for now.


2/1/23 Plugged in and got a 'new to me' flowhood set up and tested the filter with some plates. I'm going to wait for the results of the test before I pour some fresh plates and join the party. If the plates are dirty and the filter is fucked I'll pour some plates in my SAB and proceed as normal. Stay tuned!

In honor of a calendar year that will end with a date of 123123 I'm going to offer up a special prize.....a free, ONE YEAR SUPPORTER ACCOUNT!! I know, I know..try to contain yourselves. But, such an awesome prize will not come easy! To qualify you must follow the following rules:

1) can not be a TC, TC candidate, or obviously very experienced cultivator. This is geared more towards Noobs -> novice cultivators to encourage them to learn something new.

2) Spores must be started on agar ON or AFTER 2/10/2023 - yes, this is after people have already started but I'm joining late and didn't get this posted early enough so it didn't feel fair. You can restart a variety you're currently running, but it must be started on or after the posted date.

3) MUST BE A CUBE. I don't care what variety, but it must be a cube, so get your racehorse out

4) Plates and spawn must be verified clean...none of this questionable shit that you *think* will fruit just so you can rush through this challenge. Moldy substrates are a DQ. The point of this is to learn proper techniques.

5) Minimum 3 quarts of spawn in a tub greater than or equal to a 32 quart tub spawned at a 1:3 ratio or greater (either modded or unmodded tub. The size and spawn/sub requirements is to maintain an even playing field so one person doesn't spawn a shoebox at 1:1 and another spawns a full monotub)

6) Successfully grow your variety of choice

7) Take a clone

8) Grow out your clone culture

9) Collect spores (either prints or swabs, whichever you prefer)

10) Host a giveaway in the market place

The first person to meet all these requirements should contact me via :pm: and we'll get it sorted out


It's a lot of rules/requirements but this really is intended to be a teaching/learning experience and to help encourage a newer cultivator to take this hobby a couple steps past just drying harvesting and drying your fruits. Don't like my rules or my challenge? Don't participate :shrug:
