Any ideas how to replace marbles in LC?

I used glass from a broken jar in the last LC I made and it worked well but this time I'm trying SSLC and I'm worried broken glass fragments won't be heavy enough to stir well.

If anyone has a crafty suggestion I'm all ears (no magnetic stirrer). Thanks!

No need for that IMO.

Go outside (if worried about getting airborne spores in your place), fill with  water and bleach mix, dump.

Proper sterilization will happen when you PC your next grains in that jar.

Honestly I don’t hardly even wash my lids in between PC cycles. If I have a bad contam I’ll replace the polyfill but otherwise a quick soapy rinse and another PC cycle to prep more grain and you’re just fine.

So I'm not worried about contams on the lids just worried about opening a jar that is heavily contaminated and increasing my already high spore load in my home. Only reason I mentioned lids is that I wanted to save my kid and filter and that's why I didn't just toss the entire jar.

I normally do just dump them but this jar was super bad and should have been tossed months ago. Oops.

Don't even worry, just dump it out in the trash and rinse and repeat.

Make sure you close the door tight behind you or more spores will come

Quick question:

Should I be worried about a little dust on my grains that has settled to the bottom of the jar after PCing? I didn’t realize they were dirty until after cooking. New bag and all that.

Nah, its totally fine. I usually have a bit of dust in my jars due to the high amounts of dust in the cheap oats I buy

So I live in a remote backwards island. There is no grain grown here so rye is inaccessible, wheat is over $2/lb I was able to get a 50lb bag of oats for $35. So that being said there is no straw anywhere here.

I'm planning on doing a bunch of outdoor beds next summer. Ps mex, pan cyan, and ps Azure.

Is it possible to throw a light layer of potting soil or 50/50 coir verm lime casing and plant clover and wildflower on the manure based mushrooms and what about the Azure woodlover. My backyard is secluded but I'd rather not have a woodchip pile and soil beds with nothing apparent growing on them.

Now I've checked TMC, GGMM, Mycelium Running, UTFSE, and done a bunch of online research with nothing.

So there is a very limited selection of trees here but there is alot of balsam fir. I think it would work for the Azure. What edible mushrooms do you think would also grow on balsam?

You could always put additional plants into the woodchips, every house can use a nice flower bed around the sides or perhaps some squash in the back. Mushrooms enjoy a little shade as well, it can be a win win.

Hey guys,
Using bod's flip the lid tek. Does this look good? I'm afraid it's covered in cobweb mold but at this point I'm also paranoid so wanted to consult.

Is that a crazy coir to spawn ratio or just not mixed well?

Column A, column B. I used 1:1 grain to substrate. Will this impede the growth considerably/should I just add some casing?

1:1 isn't ideal, the mushrooms benefit from the added water the coir provides.
You can case it now and I think you should to get a more level surface as well.
There isn't enough emphasis given to a level substrate on the shroomery.

I level my substrate, but I don’t know why I do it. What benefits does it provide?

Honestly there are a lot of great guides and resources but I've ended up finding outdated ones that set me completely off course on a few occasions. Appreciate the help.
To be clear though, this does not look like it's covered in mold?
