Fantastic!  I figured it would work, but wanted some confirmation from folks here who know what they're doing.
Many thanks!!

I have 4 new tubs that I went direct from substrate to fruiting stage. I am misting daily and have the tubs cracked about 1/2 inch. I just found out I need to leave for three days.

What's the best course of action with these tubs assuming they may dry out a bit?

My advice is to just set the lid on normally and it should be fine till you get back. The moisture in the substrate should be correct so that you're not misting it daily to begin with.

So my all in one bag is ready to be put into my monotub.

I have a bag of coco coir casing mix I'm going to layer in with the already colonized bag.

Sound good? Any tips?

Layering is old tek. And I'm not sure of the instructions you received or what teks your following. But normally we break up colonized spawn then you mix it with the coir in the tub really well and level it out, then add a small top layer that covers it all.

Are those rye berries on top the uncolonized ones from the all in one bag? If so that's gonna be super moldy here soon.

If the grain was completely colonized it could be fine. I've always ran tubs without a coir top layer, the grains sit there on top, they bounce back and grow out. Just put the lid on, get the hygrometer outta there, and leave it alone till it's all colonized.

Set the lid normally as in fruiting conditions? Slightly cracked? I feel like the substrate was a bit off.

Set the lid normally for now. You have holes in the tub so shouldn't need to crack the lid till its fruiting.

Quick question: is there value in taking tissue samples from a sparse but THICC second flush fruit? Each of my golden teacher tubs are throwing a typical second flush, but in the same spot in each tub there’s an absolute unit growing.

Now I know if I cloned it they wouldn’t all be that large. Just wondering if you guys normally take from flush one, or if it’s more of a “whatever looks best” situation.

I prefer to clone the largest fastest growing fruit that's in a cluster. I've clone single giants before and it does preserve that trait but it seems like that's how it fruits in the future. Solitary giants that would need an epic amount of water and substrate to produce canopies. Possibly making them less bio-effient I dunno. With prolific clusters that blanket that substrate they can be smaller in size but it's easy to increase the efficiency of their water usage by adding more water and coir and suddenly this blanket is thicker and taller. I dunno know any of this to be fact though just my observation and could be wrong for sure.

One of my most productive fattest mushroom producing cultures was a clone of a small stemless mutant cap that grew upside down. I didn't get what I expected but what I got was great.

Big fruits are easier to get a clean sample from than thin ones and I try to select fast ones from the first flush by keeping an eye on it while it matures. Sometimes the results are similar, sometimes they aren't. I think you don't really know what to expect from a clone for size & clusters till you run it, but is better at increasing the odds of recessive traits and mutations you come across.

What does F stands for? I feel like someone people use it do describe how many generations away from the wild and others for the number of flushes. Thanks :fishy:
