Not a bad idea.. but I guess I'm more worried about "babies" little ones that are too small for me to easily see their bodies floating in vinegar, but still big enough to get in there, set up camp, and raise some hell

That is mostly genetics. Those would have likely continued to grow. My Fiji for example often pops it's veil as pins but they continue to grow to be pretty impressive. Some that do that will dump spore everywhere and some won't.
