Do you rinse your mushrooms before drying?  I do a light rinse to get the dirt off.

Ive done it before but stopped after realizing the water was all blue and i was likely losing potency.

I just cut the dirty tips off, but I suppose you can do whatever floats your boat.

Hi,

First time growing actives and my tub is starting to look a bit strange and not forming pins. The tub has been colonized and in fruiting conditions for 12 days. I’m not exactly sure what is going wrong but if anyone has any advice on how to progress from here I’d love any suggestions.

So I’m pretty confident in the answer but, my last grow the jars looked like this too, and well,  those Nats  kept on fruiting for 2 months almost before they triched out..

I guess I need to be coddled and validated right now haha,

So, this IS bacterial, right?

The condensation and wet grains stuck to the walls of the jars are definitely raising flags for me. Someone more knowledgeable may have better insights than that though. I've heard others recommend sending questionable jars to their own shoeboxes or top fruiting inside the jar itself.

I say send it, might be slight sus but nothing I would hesitate to send. Especially if that is Nats also.

I'm not seeing any milky or translucency in there although it os excessively wet, this time of year with drastic temperatures changes can have some effect.  Though grains probably were were overly wet to begin with.

Oh I’m sending it to bulk regardless come tomorrow haha.
These are Nats too, the ones Dkeppel was sending out back around August/Septemberish.
Definitely aggressive.
I was hoping to get them on some clean spawn and see how well they can perform but, seems my grain prep still needs work. I know I need to work on getting my hydration perfected so the pc cycle is as effective as can be.

I appreciate the responses guys.

So grinding up mushrooms produces quite a lot of dust. Is the magic bullet considered one of the better grinders for not having a bunch of dust?

I think I have a Hampton and it’s just not sealing well at all.

The magic bullet is the trick. No dust and it grinds it to a finer powder than anything else I've tried.

When did you spawn this tub? A fair bit of us just go straight to fruiting condition from the get go. More information would help, ie. what variety, ratio of spawn to substrate etc.

The Ninja single serve is pretty much the same thing. It works well, and keeps the powder in while you run it but still gives a puff of powder when opened for me.

I wonder if the Magic Bullet is better somehow?

I'm not gonna eat it or anything.  Just wondering if it is, then it is a sign from the universe.  Because I been doubting myself about the purpose of this journey.  tbh, I'm gonna call it a sign no matter what. :lol:

I try to let it settle, but it’s not even an issue of dust being inside of the container. It’s dust escaping out of the cup while I’m grinding, so there’s powder kind of shooting out the sides and on the counter.

Which is just unacceptable.
