I made straight coir as a sub and mixed 1.5 sub to 1 grain. The coloration always goes well for the first couple of weeks with the tubs almost fully colonised but when I took them down to see if it started to pin, I knotised they now have Trichy starting on top.
I have got through the cycle 3 times. First I thought it was the coir so the second I PC'd for 2 hours. The 3rd was a different brand of coir.
The first two I used the same water spray bottle and thought that was the case but the 3rd time I didn't use any spray bottle at all.
Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

It is my understanding that PCing your substrate gives other contamination an edge over just pasturizing it. And I personally haven't had much contamination issues using bucket tek substrate weeks after it's been sitting in my cooler.

I can mix 2000g of substrate by hand within an hour in my cooler, it still is hot af though. I personally would still probably run the sub you made.

Or just make more if you have more coir.

Are these Mycogone because they are blobs or are they Mycogone because they are reddish colored? Is the reddish color Mycogone or is it "mushroom urine" or whatever? That's where I'm having a hard time.

Yea but I made so little coir that it only stayed hot for
like 10 minutes. Isn't it considered pasteurized when it's hot for a longer period of time? Thats why I was thinking of giving it a steam bath since it cooled down way too quick

Is pouring boiling water over substrate even necessary? I think I read some people just pour regular tap water onto their coco coir/cvg without heating it up now
