I considered punishing the shit out of the surface of two shoeboxes and then stacking them with the punished sides against each other, hoping they would recover and fuse together. Just to save myself a bit of work come harvest time. I think that would be less risky than breaking them apart, but who knows...try it and let us know.

Hey all!

I've been following this updated PF Tek Guide to grow some Nats.

I've got the cakes dunked for ~21 hours and covered in about 1 cm thick hydrated coir layer, than placed in water tub at 99% humidity, as instructed. I noticed that the tek shows significant colonization in just 48 hours, however mine are just slowly colonizing, after nearly 5 days starting around the top edges (probably where the coir layer is thinner):



Did I overdo the coir, is it likely too thick? Will it have any negative effect on them? I don't mind waiting, it just seems to take a lot longer than the tek suggested.

You can crack the lid a bit and start FAE, in the original guide Mateja used Liquid Culture or Liquid Inoculant so his cakes were probably faster or more colonized than if you start from spores. You don't need to let the myc colonize the whole coir layer, with a bit of FAE it will start pinning in a week or two.

Those look fine to me, I pack coir on pretty thick. (Forgive the bad lighting, the cakes aren't actually pink.) 😂

Is there any sort of "lost" or changed potency depending on when you harvest or  dry the fruits? There have been times I've been traveling and have come back to see some pretty mature fruits that could have been harvested a few days prior! I just want to ensure that I'm not losing out on potency or causing other damage by being late to harvest

Hey guys, the brf in my agar loves to sediment and I can't really do no pours with this mix. Anyone has any TEK for sterilizing empty pp5 containers so I can just do a normal agar pour on them in my SAB?

Put them in a grow bag n pc them with the agar or wrap them in foil

Okay so a 25 min 15 psi PC cycle is enough? Can I stack the cups and lids or should I keep each cup + lid assembled together so the steam can clean them better?

Heres one of my shoeboxes that made it (currently struggling with high failure rate). 377 g wet, 28.0 g dry from 1st flush. 1 oz on the nose. This typical for the rest of yous? How much do yous guys average on first flush dry?

I do that exact process u just decribed quite a bit.  Works well for me

This a 6qt or 12qt? For 6qt, 28 grams ain't too far from what I get depending on species. High end 380-400 wet grams on the 6qts for me. These are what type?

Yep, 6 qt shoebox with 1 qt spawn. This was sent to me labeled as APE but theyre different from the APE ive cultivated in the past. Most notably, the caps dont turn dark blue when theyre done growing.

The blueness is not actually correlated either potency though, right? From what I've read.

I've only used mini monotubs so far and want to step up to bigger monotubs. Which one of these tubs would you pick and why? The 50 quart is taller and more narrow. The 58 quart is wider but shorter. I'll probably be putting 5 quarts of grain spawn and a brick of coco coir and verm.




I see a bunch of people using 66 Quart tubs on here but the closest I can find to a 66 quart is 70 quarts. Which tub do you think would be best? :hmm:

And is there any pros in using bigger monotubs other than wasting a lot of time spawning to bulk a bunch of mini monos which takes forever
