So after about a month my ghost finally has some….pigmented side pins
There’s a couple albino aborts on top so it must be bacterial or something.

Got 5 quarts of Ghost almost done colonizing, agar to wheat on 4/15, shaken twice after innoculating. Planning on 1:2 with 50/50 coir/verm. 1/2" pseudo casing.
Soun like a good plan?

50/50 is a crazy ratio. I do 650g (dry) coir, 2 quarts medium grade vermiculite and 1 gallon of water.
My ghosts did well at 1:2 but I'll do them at 1:3 next time (if I remember lol). 1/2-1" top layer should be plenty good

Appreciate the response. I have 5 quarts leftover coir from last winter and didn't want to start a new block as I'm wrapping up for the season. Thinking it'd be best to give them highest quality substrate as possible. How much substrate does your recipe yield? I'm assuming a lot more than I need for 5 quarts grain spawn...? I could always save leftover substrate for the fall or just use it in the garden, now isn't the time to cheap out lol.

Some Nutcracker going at a snails pace. A bit of surface trich but the shrooms are winning for now.

it yields somewhere in the ballpark of 10-12 quarts prepared substrate which would be perfect for 5 quarts of spawn whether you did them all in shoeboxes or in one monotub.

I’m trying to imagine how a bucket dehydrator like that even functions. It seems as though it would be convenient as fuck however.

It’s as simple as it looks and very convenient. I basically have a smaller bucket for the stem butts and I rip out fruits by the handful, snip the butts into the small bucket, and pitch the rest into the big one. Then slap a dehydrator rack over the bucket and flip it onto the dehydrator and turn it on. A full bucket will hold much more than trying to use the trays and the fruits don’t need to be split or cut up to fit.
