Is ghost crazy slow to pin for you guys?
I’ve had a tub colonized for a couple weeks now. Only other one like this was MMTP.

This is my Ghost tub 13 days in. I think it started pinning around day 11. Quite a few aborts, dunno whether that’s normal.

^ tat is extremly potent. it's up there with ape. however depending on the isolation you may get a low potency culture of tat -less so with ape. other than ape, tat is the only mushroom with a visibly blue powder if you blend the fruits dry. not just a little blue, very blue. i got my swab from cocaine buffet and sent a few swabs in the past. I'm just pulled out my tat cultures, so will send out more swabs when i finish that grow.
you may notice pictures in this thread, some are blue topped, some are more white cap looking.. yea those blue cap tats are insane. they usually pin for me day 10 after casing.

About the ape-like potency, only the yeti I've grown can match. Gandalf is very potent too, but not over the roof.

re: potency, mine (Jack Frosts) have been a major let down unfortunately, but I speculate that if I had a culture that formed fruits slower they'd be more potent.

yea i actually do. for potent cultures, when they mature them caps are blue-black.. i remember growing culture b c d and e, culutre e and d where weak as hell, so in my experience only 50% of tat cultures come with heavy potency.
 
above are two seperate isolates. i have another weaker culture i didn't post a picture, they mature 3 or 4 days faster and don't get nearly as potent, they also lack a blue top.
this is the powder i'm talking about, other mushroom powders look like a tan/ whiteish color:

My PEU I just powdered a few days ago looked a bit bluer IMO (but I know how hard it can be to get the colors to show true), just thinking maybe this trait isn't exclusive to TAT. It surprised me when I saw it and my gf was marveling at it for awhile, called it turquoise. I'll see if I can find a pill. Harvested these a bit after this pic so they blacked up a tad more:
Regarding the quicker shrooms being less potent, I think that's why my JF sucked. It was crazy fast, which was cool, but I'd say my PEUs were 3-4x more potent (tried them at equal dosages about 3 days apart) but also waaaaaay slower.
I bet you could make a REALLY blue powder if minced or even shredded your shrooms before throwing them on the dehydrator..

the color didn't pick up very well, the picture you see is almost ashy grey, i have those under a white floodlight. with that said, i have powdered what i would consider strong penis envy, they where visibly tan.

Interesting, def interested in trying. Never used swabs, any good resources on going from swab>agar to start up some of these?

yea. My favorite way to germinate swab spores is:
1. pour sterile water into a sterile petri plate, those super small petri dishes are best.
2. take sterile 11 size blade and GENTLY scrape the spores off of swab into that small petri dish. -if your scraping swab fibers off the swab your a scraping too hard.
3. Let sit for at least 8 hours - so spores rehydrate -i usally wait till next day.
4. take inoculation loop, scoop 5 - 10 drops onto agar dish
5. use plate spreader to evenly spread spores across surface of agar dish.
wait for germination.
i'm sure there are plenty of other ways to do this, i tried plenty, but this best for my setup.

Sounds easy enough! Other posts seem to say theres no harm just swiping the swap directly on agar - outside of being more sterile any advantage to the method you outlined?

in my few attempts of swab to agar, i had inconsistent results. I also want a reduced number of spores to germinate; makes it easy to achieve multiple single sector monocultures on first transfer.

It's only average in potency. I've grown it for the last 5-6 months. Multiple isolations. Now I'm doing ghost, yeti, APE and ahhhh... Zero comparison.
