What's the furthest RW F so far?

I got an F9 a couple years back and have brought it a few generations but I know some of you have a lot faster generational turnover... Where is this thing at right now?

I’m sure a few people have taken it pretty far. I also got an F9 print and grew out and printed an F10 culture that had all the desired RW traits and this culture is from one of those prints. So far, the F11 is as tomentose as my F10 was. Lol

I think the farthest I've seen is 15-16. RW is known to be a tomentose culture.

That may have something to do with the conditions...

I'm not a pro by any means but I've attempted an automated system for this and I'm running both these and pans in the same chamber with success.

I gotta say thanks for clearing this amazing substrain of cubes because I wasn't ever going to try and grow basic cubes.  I just thought they were rather lackluster, but your project has created in me a new passion for cubes.  Way to go with the Rusty whytes

Anyone have a Rusty Whyte print for trade? Can trade for a Yeti swab or a Texas Yellowcap print.

***Edit*** I have found a RW source.

Thanks y'all!

Hello beautiful friends

Could someone more experienced give me an insight about why this two little rw boxes teached the point of almost blooming and then froze ? It's been two weeks now and they are doing nothing , I'm keeping temps at 22 c , and surface conditions at point, the only thing I could imagine might have affected them I'd that I put them out of the house for two days when knots started to appear, outside temps was around 9-16 C, I thought they would pick up when out back inside at steady 22, but.... :X

Should I try scraping the surface ?

Thank you all much love

I think you answered your own question when you said you moved the fruiting substrates from a good environment into a really bad one for some reason

I see fruit formation on the top sub which means the colony is trying to fruit but the environment isn't quite there and that's why you only see a tiny pin here and there even tho knotting is prevalent throughout the substrate. The bottom sub doesn't look better, uneven surfaces with mostly matted myc and both tubs look like they are being misted a bit too much, how often are you misting those?

I believe you are right, I put them out where It was colder because I wanted to stall growth buy I thought they would either grow slower or Begin growing again when I introduced the right conditions but they just pause :p I tried to mist them a little more because I thought they might lost lots of moisture ;x

Thank you for the insight )

I lost this culture about a year ago. just put some swabs to agar. Hopefully I can bring it back into rotation.

I know this thread hasn't been bumped in 4 months but I've found lots of great info here and thought it's definitely a thread worth bumping.

I got a F11 RustyWhyte swab a little while ago and I put the swab to four Agar plates. These two woke up over the last 24hrs and the myc are taking off nicely. Sorry for the shitty pics, I swear I'll get a new phone eventually:

Like I said, not the best pics but in the center where I gently pressed the swab into the Agar you can see the myc taking off. So I'll hopefully have the opportunity to grow some RW coming up.

Anyone else growing RustyWhyte recently or plan to? I'll try to update as I go and keep a good thread goin.

Ok I've given these RustyWhyte T-0 germ plates 4 more days and here's where they are today:

They are growing really well. I'm going to start taking transfers in two or three more days. I made some fresh plates last night and have them sleeved up ready to go.

I'm getting excited to get spawn going. But I would like to get at least two transfers before going to grain. I'll have to see how it goes.

Here's something interesting I thought would be worth checking out, RW F11 vs Pin Mold. Two of the four germ plates I put swab spores to back on 8/15 developed contams. I know this happened because my lack of sterile tek, I've since rectified this. The plate with the swab tip developed green mold and the other got what I believe to be pin mold:

I'll say that the RW mycelium grow pretty aggressively vs everything else I've grown. Thought it was cool how the first plate is basically having a showdown with the white pin mold. My other two germ plates are looking good:

Taking transfers from these tonight onto fresh agar. Try to get some rhizo growth.

ETA: To correct myself, my understanding is that RW is prone to more tomentose growth on agar correct? So rhizomorphic growth may not matter or be common?
