Hello and welcome to Qookin W/ Quantom.

I'm going to show you how to make a fruit leather using a combination of two recipes I found on the internet.
As someone who has been cooking anything from hamburgers to rumcakes to DMT (any way you like it) for about a decade, believe me when I say that the juice or fruit you use is going to make a difference in time/consistency! And that this is an art, like most things. You want it to look good, make it.
So the two recipes we used were.
https://www.freshoffthegrid.com/diy-fruit-leathers/
https://www.theblackpeppercorn.com/how-to-make-fruit-leather/
And I guess after rereading its probably just more like the first one... But it doesn't hurt to have more info on this treat.
MAIN DIFFERENCE! WE WILL BE REHYDRATING THE MUSHROOMS WITH JUICE! NOT STRAIGHT FRUIT! SO IT PUTS ALL THAT SUGAR IN THE SHROOMS AND THE SHROOMS ARE PRETTY MUCH THE FRUIT! (Im sure you could use fruit in the same way. This was just convenient for the first couple rounds for me.) A big part of why I did this is because I've heard people say they think chocolates stay potent longer than straight bagged mush. And I'm tired of chocolates ha, hopefully this can be another way to utilize overstock while maintaining potency.
So lets do it!
16 oz organic mango pineapple juice in a pot.
Oz mushrooms
Steer! YOU REALLY WANT THAT POWDER TO SOAK UP THAT WARM JUICE! REHYDRATE THEM!
I think I did like 2 ozs of honey.. which was probably too much at this point... The mixture is pretty warm now.
After it's at a simmer throw it in the blender
Pureed onto a dehydrator tray. Maybe a little thin right here, pretty watery, almost spilt it even moving it into the dehydrator, probably should have cooked it down a bit more.
Dehydrated for about 7 hours I believe. And geezis I should have laid down parchment paper dammit!!!!
The consistency and texture is there, but I fucked it all picking it up....

 Round 2!
16 more ozs of juice! Throw all the pieces of the last batch in!
(THIS IS WHERE THINGS MIGHT GET CONFUSING. "he's adding the shit last batch to the new batch, deer lawd." It's still just fruit pulps, and sugar. That's about all were working with. And moisture. Sugars will become hard when dehydrated, fruits even. But they are inclined to hold some moisture, giving them form, stability and shape. As long as your mixture is consistent, you should be able to adjust the moisture levels until you are happy with the consistency. I even figured if I had a batch that got overdone, and cracked some even, I could dampen a paper towel and put the batch into a ziplock with the damp towel as to provide a humid environment on which it could reabsorb some moisture. You can do that with alot of things. And while we're talking about moisture. Moisture is what's going to make these things NOT last outside of the fridge forever. So less moisture means less likelyhood to spoil. As well as the extremely high sugar content of these things. High sugar, low moisture means it's way less likely to spoil, like a candy. But mind we aren't pasteurizing these in a sealed container or anything like that, so I would keep these in the fridge/freezer just to be safe, and in a cooler area festival or camping.
Old scraps to another 16 oz of warm juice! What I see here instead of scraps is what I put into it, and I could have checked the bottle for grams of sugar but I didn't. Rather than scraps I see (scraps=28g mush powder, probably a half oz of sugar or more, couple ozs of dehydrated honey, dehydrated fruit pulp) Get it to almost a simmer and blend! I used a handheld emulsion blender this time, coz my other one was still dirty

Another 28g mushpow
Now I like the consistency here, maybe a little chunky. Probably should have added just a little more juice so that it spread more evenly on the tray. Oh well.
Pyewp it on there and spread it as evenly as possible

7 hours later
 Cut em up
Then I cut strips of parchment and transfered them, rolled them up.
This was a 12*10 sheet. I cut like .5" by 5" so I ended up with like 26 pieces. 56g/26 = 2.1g per piece. And they taste good!

Storage in freezer. Individually wrapped then in pouches then in freezer bag.

UPDATE: ONE SAT OUT FOR 2 MONTHS AND WAS ENJOYED AS EXPECTED BY HOMEBOY AT BUMPIN UGLIES CONCERT. CONCLUSION-

Seems like a nice idea, anything to make them easy to consume is good right. But I wonder about the shelf life without any preservatives. Even with the high sugar and fridge storage how long will they last before they go moldy or spoil, frozen would stop that being a problem though.
Since they've been re-hydrated and actives have been blended throughout the juice/honey mixture will more potency loss occur, especially with the high surface area, will they be just as potent a month from now... if they aren't eaten before then I guess this depends on how they're stored, frozen will help and maybe all the sugars and honey will protect it
Chocolate doesn't really hydrate the material, seems to coat and seal it in choc which limits contact with the air, also only the outside layer of choc/shroom is exposed while the center is kind of protected..
Keep us updated how they hold up over time.

Okay I'll put a couple on a shelf in a second.
I feel like some were dryer than others. I meant to mention that when spreading it it could be very important because of this, that's kinda why I want to do molds to so they're more evenly portioned and dried. Might even be worth rotating the tray in the dehydrator too. And that will definitely play into the shelf life of the product, with regards to the moisture content mainly. It was also kind of hard to tell because of the honey I think to, maybe real sugar would be better because of this, it felt kinda soft and oily almost in some spots, but it felt honey-ey also so idk.
Again there's alot of ways this could work out bases on the fruit or juice you use, your dehydrator, how thick they are, your powder ratio so many things.
And I bet if you wanted to you could probably add some sort of preservative... But idk about that, I like the freezer. And I don't see anyway they would degrade especially stored like I did initially.
This is more so meant to be just an example of the possibility a, rather than an actual "you should follow these steps exactly" type of thing. There's more than one way to bake a cake with a skinned cat.
It would be cool if they were shelf stable, but idk if you can handle frozen fruits or jams this should be no problem.
I think I'm terms of this vs chocolate you might be able to fit more by weight per serving, I could have probably made more potent pieces even, these are vegan, in theory are less likely to melt than chocolate (again alot of factors there I'm sure), I think you get i finer mushroom consistency when blending the liquid mixture compared to adding mushroom powder to chocolate (unless you have a melanger), and I'm willing to bet these taste better than most mushcocolates, it also containers citric acid which should fast track your experience(if your into that). Vs gummies they're probably way more potent and may hold up better at higher temps.
Are the gummies people make around here shelf stable?
Weed gummies are shelf stable right, like from dispensaries?

I wanna see someone’s face at a festival when they pull that out to eat it and have trouble figuring out what it is.
Lol, just eat it bro, I got tired of making chocolates.
Props on fixing the jacked up batch! When I was reading the post I was thinking, I bet you could re-rock that shit. Then you did! Props!
I would try a piece, I was just talking ish…good job!

Ya really just another thing to do. Really just want to concentrate the product and try to preserve potency.
Might even try completely dehydrating some and making a more candy type deal.
I've been wanting to make a honey candy for a while and didn't think I could get it consistent, but with the aid of some juice or fruit I might be able to come up with something. I got a bit of powder left and a a bit of time before the event that these are for so I'm sure I'll be pushing out some stuff.
Going to do a chocolate write up just coz I tried to see how much I could concentrate that, it was kind of funny ha.

I bet if you made a real strong tea you could strain out the mush and make some kind of concentrated simple syrup( like they make for fancy mixed drinks)
Then get creative with that stuff! I bet you could make all kinds of stuff. I wonder if anyone has made magic hard candies?
I like all your pictures! Good job on the write up.

I'm a good mix of horrified and extremely interested. Is the mushroom taste gone entirely or is there still some earthiness too it?

for ghiardelli 70% dark chocolate, I've found about 18% by weight to be the upper extreme limit to still be able to pipe it into molds. Any more powder and it turns into like pottery clay.
I'd imagine milkier chocolates can take more powder but I haven't tested it yet since I did all the math for my molds with ghiardelli

I've seen a write up for gummy bears doing something like that so it might be possible. I think having too much non-sugar in it will prevent it from becoming like a hard candy which is why they did gummy bears.

I feel like something happens when you concentrate a tea too much, I'm not sure, but idk if people seem to be getting the gummies strong enough imo. I don't want to have to carry around a bunch of shit, the more concentrated the better imo.
I made chocolates at a 1:9 ratio,or 10% by weight, they needed to be hand packed. I experimented with 1:1 to 1:9
The earthiness seems to be completely gone.
Ide like to see a simple syrup or something like that, but again idk how much you can concentrate a tea, the gummies seem relatively impotent by weight. I'll have to check for an average weigh on these guys since I cooked off so much water, it's alot easier to calculate chocolate. But ide guess these are 10-20 gram pieces, so probable about 10-20% by weight. And no worry about losing anything potency wise like concentrating a tea and straining stuff out, it's all there. And never got as hot as a tea would get even.
And although the chocolate covers it, this I believe no ability for oxygen to get into it through the sugars anyway. Then parchment and a wrap, and freezer, I see no way these things could have degraded. Except maybe a hair in the dehydrator, but we dehydrate fruits for longer initially anyways so idk.
Definitely a work in progress. Would love to see someone try their own or even a candy next!
Sadly I don't have time to eat them but I'll try to find someone asap. I just tried like a small piece, tasted really good actually ha. Like scary good.

Awesome writeup I can't wait to try this! My wife and I are always gifted bags of peaches and plums so this will be a new (and better) way to use them up! I've kinda gotten tired of chocolate bars so this will be perfect. Thanks for taking the time to write this up and inspire me

I haven't made hard candies yet but I've run several batches of these magic gummy bears and they're freakin awesome. They will take some dialing in to get dosages right but they're pretty quick to make and it's a fun way to eat mushrooms.
