I hate links, why not just post the pic? theres even a link to help do it everytime you post------------------ -From a registered Mad Scientist "From a certain point of view" -Jedi Master Obiwan Kenobi (also a Mad Scientist tm)

jerry petri dishs can be obtained from fungi perfect at http://www.fungi.com/ or american science and surplus at http://www.sciplus.com/ petri dishes are filled with a medium for germinating the spores. if there is any contamination once the spores have germinated you can isolate the healthy uncontaminated mushroom mycelium. what i mean by isolate is to cut out the section of healthy mycelium and transfer it to another media filled petri dish. petri dishes are not recommended for fruiting the mushroom.

Where's that pic from? Does it claim to be a mexi? And I'm not lazy, I'm....uh....efficiency oriented. I thought in TMC stamets says mexicannas need casings. Well everyone is that or is that not a mexicanna as we can all see that it is coming from a petri dish whatever it is.------------------ -From a registered Mad Scientist "From a certain point of view" -Jedi Master Obiwan Kenobi (also a Mad Scientist tm)

the pic looks like from an experiment in the 70ties at sandoz-laboratories...i think there are a very few people that managed to fruit them like that...BiO.

The pic looks fake, so i guess you couldnt tell what strain it is. But it is possible to grow mushrooms on agar, but its a waste of time. You would only get a gram or two off one petri. Wht do that when you could use the same petri to grow pounds. Grow some spores out on a petri and wate, let it set in the light and you will get pin heads, then place it in the growing chamer and there sure to grow up. You wont get shit out of it though. The only thing the shrooms grown on agar is good for is cloning, you defenantly have a hardy strain if it fruiots on agar. Good luck, i hope you dont waste your time to try it. Ps. IM pretty sure that pic is just someones fancy computer work, it looks fake (too colorful) but it is easy to do.

Hey 5150, do you have any experience fruiting agar? I've been looking for some experience as I'm about to try it. Not for yield, but as you say for cloning. I hate testing isolated strains only to find they won't fruit. Any pointers?------------------ -From a registered Mad Scientist "From a certain point of view" -Jedi Master Obiwan Kenobi (also a Mad Scientist tm)

Hmm, any tips. Not really, but after i read this post i decided to through a lil casing on a petri. That should protect the agar and the mycelium. It should work, there just not nutients to really get a good fruiting. if your goona try it to clone, then make some agar out of your substrate, like birdseed. that way you will have some sort of isolation for a strain that favors your substrate. you know what i mean? A strain that likes malt extract agar and fruits like crazy on it might not like birdseed or rice flour too much. Good luck
