Re: potency of straw grown mushrooms
    #10883 -

I have been growing on straw for two years now and have noticed a few changes that are consistant. One, is that I get much bigger flushes. Two, most flushes tend to grow larger and more robust. Three, the fruits are more solid and less liquid( hence, they donot shrink as much when stored) Four, Less maintence as far as blocking contamination. Because straw its self is a very good germ blocker if you dont cook it too much it retains its natural germ guard.

As far as potency goes, it;s hard to say. So many friends have enjoyed strong trips and others mild trips off the same fruit. The mushroom may be very potent as far as chemical content, but only cause a mild trip. It, to a certain extent, depends on the weight and body chemistry of the individual who is partaking of the fruit. To me thats a tough call. But as far as growing is concerned. You should definatly give straw a chance.
