potency? ... help!
    #469711 -

I have now grown mushrooms 3 seperate time (3 different strains) on PF Tek and then cased 50/50 mix. I have noticed that the potency of these mushrooms seems low compared to shrooms I have bought in the past. Perhaps even to the extent that I would have to eat 2X home grown to purchased for the same effect. What grows in my chamber looks near identicle to the pictures I see online and I get good flushes so I am confused. Does substrate effect potency? Is there some mistake I am making? Currently I am trying to innoculate rye berries which I plan to case on horse dung and hay straw. Will this make a more potent mushroom? Any advise or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and BTW great message board.

not to say the obvious thing, but are you eating the right amount dry weight / wet weight wise?

The oens you purchased were probably higher psilocybes or pans - but cubies grown on birdseed seem more potent to me than other substrates

from what I understand every aspect of growing affects the potency. The humidity level is a big one, and so is the substrait. Try casing in compost, they love shit!

Exact opposite is my observation. I have NEVER done any mushrooms I didn't grow myself, but I have a friend who buys them. He has always said the stuff he used to get from me is 3x stronger than anything he ever bought.
