Hello Slither and Kush. It is NOT spent compost. It is extremely rich and designed for mushrooms. When it is "cooking" Kush, it pretty much kills off all the bad bacteria, and since the ph is between 7-8, many other pests dont like it either. My friend has tried both ways. Streilized and not. All occasions except for one experiment where more wheat straw was added to the top layer(caused contaminiants) came out with out contamination, both sterilized and unsterlized. But to be on the safe side, She says to just pasturize for a short period, not as long as you would regular wheat straw or jars. Just enough to make sure. When I try to add a pic file, it doesnt show up. How can I get some pictures up on the thread. I really liked the (add pic to post) button on the old board. Havent quiet figured this one out yet. AS for the shipping costs. Email her your zip code and she can reply to your question slither Or she will give you hers and you can go to US postage.com and see how much it would be depending on how fast you want it. If the shipping costs get to high, she will just send it to you for the cost of shipping. Remeber she isnt tring to make a profit, just seeing all the newcomers wanting to get huge yeilds, pretty much convinced her to basically give it away. If you dont want to get any shipped to you, she is willing to give you her recipie if you ask. Then you can experiment on your own with compost. Either way she told me she hopes she can help.

Problem is most if not all the people that would buy the compost that ryche is selling for what he's selling it for, wouldn't have anything to compare it to cuz they've never used compost. You don't see him offering pics of the compost he is selling. Nice thing your doing Bluehoney!

thanks slither. My friend has had an over welming demand by email for pics of mushrooms grown on this compost. So here is a tray of equadors on compost beginning to pinn, and the next one is of the india strain fruit already at 7 inches, and the cap hasnt even opened up yet.. P.S. Both trays of compost were mixed with only 1/2 pint cakes one for each tray, and yet the colonization times were alot quicker. One thing my friend likes to do is place a casing layer of wheatstraw that has been soaked and rung out on top of the compost. It helps to keep the compost moist throughout the growing cycle and gives the mycelia something to hold on to. Just a VERY thin layer is all thats needed.
