APE Cultivation

So I recently got a APE spore syringe however the inside looks more like a liquid culture. I've put some on agar a few days ago and I'm still not seeing any mycelium how long does this strain typically take to grow?

APE is 1 of the slowest to germinate. Give it a couple of weeks or so and see how it looks.

Albinos have clear spores which is prob why it looks that way.


Spores can take up to a couple weeks to germinate but ime if they haven’t started in a week they’re probably not going to.

I've had the same experience, but once I looked under the scope I found that they were indeed spores.



Usually takes about a week to germinate on agar, maybe longer if pf tek. It's generally much slower growing than other cubes but some experienced cultivators have found cultures that grow pretty quick.

Nice microscope work! Mine came just like that too, bur I've been fighting sloppy work n such, or else I'd have some fruits by now.

Like everyone else, I had trouble with a vendor syringe like that. 5-6 plates with a single drop had no germination.

I overcame this with rage- instead of a drop, I squirted several mls into 2 plates so it was pooling very slightly. Just enough that there's a slight film of liquid across the plate.

If it germs, the myc will initially look like a wet pimple. Tilt the plate away from the pimple so excess moisture is removed, it will dry and fluff up in a day or two and then transfer quick.

Rage tek increases the chance of contam, but it also increases the chance of germ if you've got a low spore count syringe. I've done it several times with success on mss I couldn't get to germ normally.

Every time I squirt that much onto a plate, I get bacteria around the edges

With a hard start syringe I don't really care much if it goes bacterial as long as I get some viable myc to transfer.

You could also try dropping several mls onto a sterile swab, and dropping the bud into a plate. That will concentrate the spores and improve chances. Swabs usually create tall aerial myc which is great for escaping bacteria.

My goal with a stubborn mss isn't a clean plate, just a viable transfer. Germ plates are presumed dirty anyway.

I just recently had success by going straight to grain. Same looking syringe. Took several days longer than normal but all of them worked.
