Hello fellow shroom enthusiasts! Iv been following these PNW actives threads for many years now, but this is my very first post so excuse any lack of etiquette ๐Ÿ’œ

My partner and I went out to Westport yesterday to check on our Azzies and it is still SUPER dry there. Like we didn't even see a single Russula it's still so dry. We also checked out all the spots we have around where we live in Olympia and it's the same thing. Although, we had some luck in Lincoln City Oregon. No Cyans or anything active, just Chanterelles and Lobster mushrooms (yummmm๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ)

Anyways, we can feel them coming for sure. If we get some good rain and the temps keep dropping like they have been, we should see some good azzie pins on the coast in about a week or 2 I'm sure.

I love seeing all your beautiful comments everyone! Can't wait to see how this season goes.

Yeah, i would do best to stay away from popular areas there, the police were cracking down last year.
I saw a number of arrests, be careful!

Back after what's it been....? Three years? Did some checking of old spots last year and they were all dead. Come to find out that portions of the Snohomish Valley were being sprayed with some kind of fungal pesticide or something (that is what a farmer told me). That way the local governement could stop the liberty caps from growing. If anyone could confirm or deny that I would appreciate it. Anyway, hopefully we have a fantastic season. I will see you on the feeeeld!

Oh man! Thank you for the heads up. We were in a pretty popular area most of last season and didn't see any cops thankfully! And we picked about a hall pound!! I'll keep my eyes out for those pesky porkchoppers for sure๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿค™

Ovoid find in Whatcom Co, WA. Almost certain these ones were propagated by my friend and I last year from a rogue ovoid patch we found in a different area, so it kinda doesn't count, although I didn't believe that's what these were at first cause they looked friggin weird. Exciting either way though. They were getting a ton of sprinkler water hence the age of the flush I think.

DRONES MAN, FOCKING DRONES!
Anyway, stay away from the mouth of the columbia, the dunes will be patrolled remotely.
And don't think your hippie ass can just act cool when you see one buzzing about, the ones you need to worry about are higher up than you can see with an expensive set of binocs, but they can read you your neck tattoos.
Don't believe me, ok, but I'm sticking to the swamps this year.

Are these scare tactics to keep people away? Any reference articles or trustworthy accounts or this happening?

I definitely heard a drone above me last year near C Riv mouth. Never saw it just heard it. I was skirting the treeline. It lingered momentarily, then moved on. I chalked it up to hobbyist/videographer activity and kept moving. Didn't find anything Wasn't looking for anything that day anyway.

Are you certain of these drone tactics? You seem to be, so I'm just curious what you know... and how you know it... (as we all are, so please elaborate if you can).

With or without the drones I won't really hunt actives there anymore. Just delicious edible/culinary mushrooms and beach walks for me. Kind of hope I get stopped and checked this season when all I have a basket full of king boletes. Mostly curious about the demeanor in which they would approach. Anyone who has had a run in with LEO/Rangers; Do they seem to probe/investigate anyone who looks suspicious in the slightest, or just when they're pretty certain they caught you?

I would imagine it's like other type park le MO. Sit,watch, gather intel/evidence, send someone to confront you? they don't even need to search you because theve been watching you from afar. Thats how they got that dude a few years ago. He ditched his back pack but they allready seen him filling it. He fought it in court for like a year and ended up losing for that reason. Dude lived hours away and would have to come back to court many times. i forgot his name though.

Has anyone had a moment like I have been having recently and wondered if there could ever be too many pickers who were carelessโ€ฆripping up mycelium, tearing up pins, etc.,which would lead to almost an extinction of Cyans in the area? Is that possible?

So I'm definitely a paranoid hippie too, but why is this the first were hearing on this drone business? That just seems like a big misuse of tax payer $$$. Drones are definitely used for crime hotspots, but I find it a little hard to believe they would spend the USD to find mushroom pickers?? Sounds a little too far out there to be real๐Ÿ˜… Besides, tons of folks use drones on the beach??lol

Checked on one of my planters and found a couple Ovoideocystidiata pins pushing up through the soil! Praying that some clusters start forming and I can share some cool pictures with yโ€™all as they progress.๐Ÿค™

Still no azzies on the coast, or really any mushrooms in general. Its gonna be a barren wasteland for a few more weeks it seems.
