I don't see why not.  Eventually though, the more aggressive species would take over the remainder of the substrate.

Thanks, Mr. M. I guess my reason for wanting to is kinda obvious - trying to use the space best. I understand that even though they fruit at opposite ends of the year, the bed colonising stage for say, Ovoids and Subs would happen at a similar time of year?

i don't know for a fact, my guess would be yes though. i want the ovoids to make it all the way up to maine also, they look fairly potent

Ovoids and subaeruginosa fruit at different times of the year.

I'd say that's an excellent plan.  To answer your question from experience I just took a photo of three species fruiting next to each other in an Ovoid habitat, Ovoids, Wine Cap and Psathyrella.

So you think perhaps I could colonise a bed with both species and I'd get a few flushes of each in their respective seasons? Or would the mycelium of one outcompete the other and leave me with only an annual fruiting?

I think it would be a cool experiment.  I know different species that occupy the same habitat.  Since the mycelial grow rate of wood lovers like Cyans and Ovoids are similar if the chips inoculated by the spawn were mixed thoroughly there shouldn't be any reason to have a fall fruiting of Cyans and a spring fruiting of Ovoids.  Alternatively, no matter how much space you have you can divide the bed into two parts.  I've seen beds that were only 30 cm x 30 cm.
