Man it seems like it takes forever for mycelium to climb off the agar wedge and colonize the grain. Do most of you guys do this, or make it into LI? It seems like LI colonizes WAAAAY faster. The extra hour or two to prepare LI can cut weeks off the colonization.

by virtue of LI, I think it will always be faster than just a a2g
I think its just extra steps and vectors for fucking up so people dont do it every time :shrug:

are you just dropping it in, or dropping it in and shaking the shit out of it? When I was starting out my a2g experience, I was just drop it in the grain and giving only a light enough shake to move the wedge about mid depth into the jar so it wasn't just top colonizing. Now I drop the wedge in and shake the living shit out of it, which seems to help a lot more.

I used to make special plates for knocking up jars. They were super soft so I would gently shake the jar until the wedge was in the middle of the grain and then shake it really hard. The agar was soft enough that it basically turned into li and spread all over.


The myc usually grew weird on them and it was almost impossible to pick the wedges up without them breaking though.

Shroomery is the one place you won’t really have to worry about that, if somebody posts bullshit claims or advice they’ll get called out or corrected immediately.

I just put my first clone samples to agar last night. The shroom was uh, very bluing. Looking at the plates today they just look like shriveled up dark blue, almost black, strings with maybe some baby mycelium coming out. Just wondering if this is a problem as most peoples clones I see still look fairly white after transfer?

It's the first big fruit I've had, so first time I've bothered with trying to clone.
