I ventured onto mycotopia a few times and watched a few youtube videos. I wouldn't dare go to reddit or a fb mushroom page. I get 99% of my mush cult info on these boards. Shroomery FTW!

I hate to do this, but could someone PLEASE pm me and help me with some issues I'm having with spores? I guess I'm having horrible luck, I cannot seem to find regular cube (non PE) prints that aren't intertwined with some parasite. I can easily clean plates up, move away from bacteria, my flowhood work is sterile etc. I know this because I have PE plates which look great that I do all types of clone work and xfers on.

I can not seem to find a print for a regular cube that isn't sooo dirty that pretty much all that grows is bacteria of some kind, and the myc that does grow looks so weak and off, it's obviously contamed heavily.

That being said, I've been putting emphasis on getting PRINTS and not syringes as I feel like in the past, prints are cleaner. Does it really matter?? But the past 3 prints, and 1 syringe, I've gotten have ALL produced nothing useable. Some looked good at some points, but none looked useable by t3 it was so obvious they were contam RIDDEN not just satellite colonies, the entire body of myc is surrounded by a circle of bacteria and nothing inside looks at all healthy.

I'd love to get some advice on this, as I'm sure 4/4 is pretty bad. I know my work is sterile, test plates, my PE strain work all being clean, etc. Maybe this is normal, and I just need to buy like 5 prints/syringes at once instead of just 1-2. Really getting frustrated, as PE takes so long and more work with casings, and I freaking desperately want a print that will produce something useable. I am super careful and sterile with my streaks and I can't imagine I'm doing anything "wrong", as I've had no problem with streaking my own PE prints.

As this is the agar thread I can't really recommend any shroomery sponsors for your agar related needs.  But if I was to need spores for microscopy, I would check the sponsors subforum and read some reviews posted there.  As I know when I was big into microscopy, that I never found any contamination when going this route on my microscope slides.

The 2 prints and syringe that I bought were both from vendors on shroomery. I guess I have bad luck. Other prints sent by members on here, idk guess it's just a losing streak and I should buy like 10 from sponsors. I just didn't think others had this amount of failures but maybe I'm wrong.

Dude I could show pics of my test plates and my PE plates, everything is clean as could be. I've already ran a dozen tests, not a single plate contams other than those which I've stated. Not test plates, not cloned plates, not other prints, nothing. I've def been getting poor prints.

Do they germinate? I don't understand what you're saying here because prints and syringes are supposed to be dirty, it's literally the purpose of agar.

It's great when they're clean, but definitely don't expect it.

They germinate but nothing clean could come from those plates lol...I've taken over 60 xfers easily from 30+ germ plates (some 1, some 3, some 5) and they all either completely contam out (no myc growth) on t2, or they show super weird scalloped growth, not just sectors, like obviously contamed growth that up to t9 doesn't go away. I am going to go see if I have any germ plates left, or t2 etc, to post a pic.

Meanwhile I have multiple PE strains going that are completely fine, I take clones, make prints, do all types of work with no issues, sometimes some bacteria, sometimes maybe a couple xfers to get away from contam, but not this. I've never really had plates like this before, but I've gotten 2 orders of spores this month (only 1 from a legit vendor) and both have been germinating so poorly. All xfers, contam is present. I'll try to grab pics

You get 100% contamination, no mycelium when streaking from prints?

I've had bad luck with syringes, but they were from shady spore101. Even with dirty ass wild prints you should get mycelium.

Grow them out using Josex's in vitro brf pucks.
