top plate, bottom wedge anywhere from 1:30 -3:30 and or around 6

Mid plate bottom wedge 6 oclock

Bottom plate maybe around 7. I’d go for smaller xfers if you can manage. Def don’t cut into any of that raised up myc, can’t tell if it’s crawling over something or just environmental but I wouldn’t trust it.

Sweet, thanks for the advice. I just poured some plates so hoping to take some transfers tomorrow if I have time.

I hear you on the smaller wedges! I'll definitely be doing that. The large ones I've been doing have been hard to see individual growths. I took some cube transfers with some .5cm x .5cm ones and it's much easier to see the individual sections.

Upgraded my hole punch to this ghetto version of d3monic's tool. Bent metal straw with a tape handle. I'll test it out later.

I made up some plates with activated charcoal powder and 1g yeast and got sediment dried to the agar bottle after pc-ing despite using a hand blender to mix it thoroughly before hand. Not sure if it was the yeast (used Braggs brand, same as some other forum uses) or charcoal powder. No issue really, it still made jet black plates but may not have the yeast in and the whole reason I made them with yeast was to test with if it prompted rhizo.

Hey guys,
all my last grows went green before first flush so i decided to get into agar...

i cloned two pins (GT) and would like some opinions

1. Cluster pin
original plate:

T3 plate 1:

T3 plate 2:

2. Fat single pin
original plate:

T3 plate 1:

T3 plate 2:

would you spawn any of these?
since i do have only small pins on the original plates, will all my mushrooms be only small pins and not mature if i spawn them?

The only one I wouldn't run is the second T3 plate 1. That wedge of clear stuff at 12 o'clock looks sketchy, I'd transfer from the bottom of that one.

The others look good to go

I'm not sure I understand the question. You mean on the plates? Typically they will grow into a mature, albeit tiny mushroom. People usually just snag those to clone with, I wouldn't put them to grain or anything. Just the nice transfers that you have

i meant because on the original plate the pins just stay small, if i spawn the good looking plates, may i have cloned "small fruit genetics" and i will only get tiny fatties in my tubs?

Nah, the size difference is because there's not a lot of nutrients on the small agar puck when compared to a full grain jar. Some people have cloned plate pins and wound up with small fruits but that's either bad luck or a different factor.

I love the thick rhizo growth you get with tissue clones. Makes you tempted to just send it. I tried that recently, even though it looked nice it triched out in the jar unfortunately.

This kind of raised growth indicates bacteria right? Should I try and transfer away, hot pour, or BRF puck it?

As opposed to a nice flat clone plate:

Idk about it indicating bacteria... I get plates like that fairly often and I haven't noticed a major issues.

Trying out this chef master brands purple, see how it performs. I did one drop purple and one drop blue. The purple has red 3, red 40 and one the blues already in it. I’m hoping that there’s so little red 3 that it doesn’t negatively effect any plates. I’ll be sure to do side by sides with it to compare growth. Only pouring a 10 stack with it incase it sucks

I'd really like to know the answer to this too. I used a culture with raised fluffs like this and there was obvious bacteria in the jar, spikey stressed mycelium and a few wet spots, also creamy white as opposed to the healthy transparent growth I get from healthy jars.

My experience so far tells me this MIGHT be bacterial sample but my experience doesn't mean anything because I havent confirmed over and over.

I don’t think it’s bacteria or anything, sometimes it just does that.

Don’t see it much with cubes, but natalensis...

I'm having a hell of a time getting anything from these prints I got. Anyone see anything I could salvage from any of these? I was thinking maybe this tek https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24806569#24806569
But it just looks like 100% contamination to me...

I have no contam issues like this in my other agar work, def dirty prints. And only did small drops with an inoculation loop in the center of each Y slots. (I have since gotten some huge dishes and used gentamicin and the following tek with the multiple swipes with fired loop in between swipes https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24330957/fpart/all/vc/1)

Also, can't get anything at all to happen with the 2 PE swabs I got. If anyone has PE to trade PM plzzz
