Ok, I`ll give it a try:

Frog herself stood up against the commercial slavery system incarnated in her boss. I suppose her boss was angry at her because she was prioritizing non-profitable values, instead of following her boss` thirst for money. So Frog starts working for herself! What is the significance of this? She is a rebell, not happy with the system as it is, and she consequently makes her own firm so she is in controll of her own actions.

I'm not so altruistic.  Actually, I started working for myself because I'm an ADDer, not because I'm a rebel, although I suppose I'm sort of a rebel.   But not in terms of what is good for business v. people and what is not.

We all have to do something to make money.  Most of us work for others because either we don't have the intelligence or the ability to work for ourselves.  It takes a lot of initiative and stamina and creativity and other shit to start your own business.

As an ADDer, I will inevitably forget to do something.  Also, I fly by the seat of my pants, and many employers don't appreciate that "quality".  So, my "boss" would come down on me, and I would inevitably tell him to fuck off because he couldn't understand the way I do things.  Rather than repeatedly lose my job, I'd rather just work for myself.

The bottom line is we all need to make money.  We live in a society that revolves around money as the barter system.  So, to make money, we have to work.  We either work for someone else, or we work for ourselves.  Or we live as beggars.  We have to fit in somewhere, rebels or not.  I prefer to work for myself.

Quote:
The thing is, we would all "get fired" if we spoke our minds truly in the mason slave-state. But then frog tells us to submit to the system because everyone can`t win: "Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated!" -The Borg

I am not saying to submit to the system, except in a sense.  What we have is the only system there is that works, at this point:  Capitalism.  The Russians tried a different system, and it didn't work.  The sense in which I believe we have to submit is that there are only two options at this time:  Work for someone else, or work for ourselves.  If you can't work for yourself, and you don't want to be a beggar, then you have to work for someone else.  Don't you want to eat?

Quote:
There can be no trancendence if not the entire morphogenetic field is changed. And if this is to happen, humanity as a whole must brake free from the price tag that is set on their heads. We must all start our own business, the business that has no price, the business of unfolding the self!

And this is the where frog is wrong; she is thinking within the system. When working for the corporate slave-state you work for yourself (for money), but let others do the thinking. If you truly want to work for others (creation) you must think for yourself...

Well, of course I am thinking within the system, to a degree.  Again, this is the only system we have right now.  I may be working for myself, but I am still connected to the system.  I gear my business around working with the system.  I may do it differently, I may have different values, but I still have to deal with the system.  But I make the decisions.  My way of doing business is dicated to by my clients, not by the system.

I still don't understand those who say we can get away from "the man".  Find or create a different system.  I personally don't have time.  In the meantime, I have found my niche in the system, but I don't have to sell-out.  I don't have to grind people or rip people off.

The moral is thus:
Do as she does, and do not what she says, haha

I just don't think most people can think for themselves.  I'm not going to be politically correct and say that just anyone can do it.  Many, many people are born to be hamburger chefs, grocery clerks, trash collectors, etc.  Not everyone is born to think for themselves and work for themselves.  But we need people to cook our burgers, right?  Nothing wrong with that job.

Just because crime can't always be regulated by the elite doesn't mean that no one can be regulated.   Regulation is, in fact, possible, and it works.  Look at how well our government is supported by all of us taxpayers.   Some criminals are just smarter than other criminals, is all.  And there are always criminals that will step into the shoes of the not-so-smart criminals.

where is the majority of your money going?  let's looks at some company names

(1) Murdoch-FoxTV-HarperCollins-WeeklyStandard-NewYorkPost-LondonTimes-DirecTV;
(2) G.E.-NBC-Universal-Vivendi
(3) Time-Warner-CNN-AOL;
(4) Disney-ABC-ESPN-comcast

In the 60's there were over 300 major media outlets in the country(300 independently owned)... By 1983 there was only 50, now there is 4

let's se some others

(5) HP-ISO-Digital GlobalSoft-compaq
(6) philip morris-miller brewing comp  (remember, morris makes more than jsut ciggs...hehe they make cookies too, among a host of other products)

more companies are merging...jsut keep watching the news. more companies merger trigger even more comapnies merging. they told us in school that there aren't many monopolies.  when we can see that this is a bunch of lies. they lie to us to keep us dumb, so we don't think. they'll just keep the company names up  oh...and btw...don't eve nthink for a second that our govt isn't connected to these companies at ALL.  especially with the ridiculous term of "soft money"

microsoft btw ownes about 7% of comcast which is the largest cable company in the world.  companies are merging left and right...the money of the billions of have nots are going to the few have's.  while many of us struggle, and many of us die because they couldn't pay the heating bills...they sit up there, not caring about us at all. And again, many of us here are content and pacified to do nothing since a lot of us jsut have enough.

What does a cable company have to do with heating?  If you look at your bills when they come in, btw, most of them offer either free or reduced services for people falling under a certain income level.

we have an idea here that money is our goal in life.  filling up bank accounts...it's so hollow.  so much strife could be ended if helped each other out instead of being seperated and not organized. are we to just sit here and not care while millions in our own country starve or have no shelter? we are so hellbent on making money that we will either lead to our total self-distruction, or we will be controled to the point where even our basic freedoms will be gone

Why, that's what we have welfare for!  So that we can help each other, whether we want to or not!  Don't you think that if we wanted to help each other, we would?  If we wanted to help each other, why are so many people on welfare?

am i paranoid...or is this just a little toooo real.

I think you have to create a different system.  I can't even begin to imagine the overhaul the current system would need, and who would do it, and how you would shake the masses off their  asses.

No, I don't think they are benevolent. Benevolence is besides the point. It's like this forum. I don't know how benevolent MAIA and Trendal are, and I don't know how much it matters. They aren't here to be benevolent. They're here to keep us from being assholes.

Same out in the world. The rules are created to keep people from being assholes. For instance, according to the rules of ethics, I can't represent 2 clients against each other unless I get them to sign a waiver of conflict first. Many lawyers might do this, just for the money, without regard for how it might hurt one or both clients' interests for that lawyer to represent them both.

And it doesn't make everything "peachy", but at least it helps.

How about dentists using drilling equipment without cleaning between each client? Or food handlers not wearing hair nets? Or people not cleaning up after their dogs? Or smoking in restaurants?

None of those regulations makes anything peachy, and the regulators could be assholes themselves, but if there aren't rules, the assholes will be assholes.

Fuck them. It is my life. I do have a choice. TO think there rare people who dont get abused like this is BULLSHIT, i advise anyone who believes such a thing to open their eyes and take a look at the world once again.

Well, quit. Instead of pointing at the rest of the world and blaming it for there being jobs like this and abuses like this, don't take the job in the first place. As long as someone will take the job and take the abuse, the abuse will occur. If no one takes the job, the employer will have to make concessions to pay a fair wage.

i agree frog control to a point, but the point I made was that there is way too much control. ther are too few people that have too much, and way too many that have too little.

We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Maybe i am add after all Frog. Maybe thats why i have decided to do architectuer... So i wont have to work for other assholes! I can work with people... i just have trouble with assholes dictating me. Especially at my shitty job!

But i dont think that means just because we have this system that it is the best, i want to keep myself from getting too wrapped up in the confines of its structure. Ill we be an outside, and be more of an "oustide consultant" and work my magic as i see fit.

Re: what are you working for? [Re: Zero7a1]
    #2649641 -

That's the thing, Zero.  Work for yourself.  You'll find a niche.  I found one.  I'm not making tons of money yet.  I'm still scraping by, although it's getting better.

What I do, while I'm working on getting my own clients, is I make appearances for other attorneys, and I've associated with a couple of paralegal offices who are legally able to draft certain types of legal documents for people representing themselves, but I make the appearances if needed.  This way, I make survival money while I, here and there, get my own clients.

Most people would not do this, but it doesn't mean it can't be done.  As an architect, you can do consulting first, and take small jobs, and stuff like that, while you wait to get your own jobs.

And I'm not knocking working for "the Man".  It would probably actually be better for me to work for him, because I need a lot of structure.  I need someone to tell me what to do, because I get lost a lot.  But I hate assholes, and most people are assholes.  Me and the assholes will get along a lot better if I work for myself, even if I stay poor for the rest of my life.

Kaiowas, I see what you're saying, I just don't think it's so bad as you are saying.  The position you are maintaining sounds extremist.  Maybe the condition of our society is extreme.  I don't know.  Don't take advantage of me saying this, but I am pretty much clueless and I can't often see outside my own little world.  I don't read the papers very often, I don't watch T.V., I am not interested in politics.  But it just doesn't seem as bad as you are saying.

Re: what are you working for? [Re: kaiowas]
    #2651112 -

First, the pain or anger you feel right now is nothing different that anyone else in any other time in history. You said "there are too few people that have too much, and way too many that have too little. " duh....when in history has this not been the case? We are slaves to our own desires, you can't blame the man for selling something that everyone wants because the people buying it are trying to fullfill their own desires as much as the man selling it to fullfill his...its as much "the man" as it is the person buying it. YOu are as much as a mason as a mason is you.
The world is an illusion...everything you are is a tiny atom in space held together by god knows what, we are all just waves of energy and through our mind we percive things things, so yes, the perception that I am me is an illusion.
Masons do control our thoughts...everytime you turn on the TV its throwing images of reality that aren't true at you....did the mason make you buy a tv? no, can you do what you want....yes, can you think what you want...yes,
money is not a bad thing but its your perception of it that controlls what you do with it. If there are two rich men and one thinks " I have to make enough money so I can "have" what I want" as opposed to the other rich man that thinks " I have to make alot of money so I can "do" what I want"...see the difference...
Our metality as whole is something to consider...the majority of people right now are happy living an illusion and untill that changes, well don't do it your self? whatever...the only confines of your mind are the ones you place on them....If there is nothing you can do about it, don't worry about it, if there is something you can do about it, don't worry about it.

Good call Buddha.

For the dude that said "Companies are merging so the wealth is being given more and more to an elite group," no. Do you understand how the stock market works? How mergers works? Shareholders don't "lose" capital when companies are bought out or merge, think about that. If they did, mergers wouldnt happen unless companies were 100% owned by CEOs and VPs...

The system we have is what we have because given our social, economic and political history, this system works. Mabye it won't work in the future, mabye it will lead to ultimate discontent with life. Who knows...what we do know, is that the system works, better than most systems around, and that EVERYONE has similar motivations and drives...this world is exploit or be exploited...

My mission here is to figure out where I want to stand on that spectrum.

You must be terribly blissful, cause you sound terribly ignorant in any case. Of course third world countries starving has nothing to do with Western companies making those people work for slave wages, threatening to move away if the government doesn't accept the low wages ! Of course they didn't become poor in the first place because the West exploited their natural resources during colonisation ! Of course the money spent on weapons in the West couldn't be better spent on programs to help those people out ! Sheesh !
