I been out a couple of times last few days trying to find some places.. how does everyone do it? I drive to a area which looks good on good maps but then once I'm there it's like ok where do I go now .. I find like one or 2 fields but when I go and look they just dont seem like the right kind of grass.. I dont know

This kind of grass.. it seems kind of like straw an also lots of other little plants among the grass

Thereโ€™s nothing necessarily wrong with the grass in your pictures, they can grow on manicured sports pitches to rough mountain grassland so itโ€™s at least a possibility. That being said, in pastures where Iโ€™ve found them the fields with mixed types of grasses which provide some break from the elements have been the most fruitful.

Ideally I like to head out to a national park where thereโ€™s acre upon acre of grazing land and beautiful views, if thatโ€™s not possible you may still be able to pick a few in a local park. Another tip if thereโ€™s not much pasture land around you is using technology - check satellite maps for sheep fields, back to back with footpath maps to see which ones you have access to.

Iโ€™m looking forward to you finding some! :mushroomgrow:

:whathesaid:

if you put in enough miles you will find them, you just need a little luck.

i've heard it suggested to try anicient/historical sites because they're left alone. i had a little luck with this theory last year by chance on little holibobs daytrip but haven't had chance to test it further this year yet.

12g dry weight for the first haul of the season, also been finding suspected ps fimetaria in the location I pick at, really cool finds!

4 suspected Fimetaria found growing on very old dung next to 2 semi's for comparison

Suspected Fimetaria dried with visible blueing

First haul dried

Happy hunting folks! :tongue2:

I heard that washing them with water significantly reduces potency since the psilocybin/psilocin is water soluable. Might be wrong though.

Ehh... nope. This would mean that the mushrooms would lose potency in rainy weather - which they clearly don't.

The best argument against washing them in water is that adding moisture will speed up decay and make them dry more slowly.
If they're soiled or in otherwise dirty, you can try gently rubbing it off with some kitchen paper or similar.

Yeah I thought that, but then I thought the mushroom is shaped like an umbrella, so maybe the top part protects the gills from the rain? I'm only repeating what I've heard so could be wrong, the only way to be sure would be to try a dose unwashed, then washed I guess..

On Dartmoor there are some walled off, greener fields which I presume are more fertile and owned by farmers. I've never found any libs on these fields, but on the grazed moorland literally the other side of the wall you will find them. maybe the farmers put something on the fields?
In this pic from an OS map, the white fields wonโ€™t have libs but the yellow ones very probably will!

You would expect water full mushrooms to be more potent since I assume they convert to psilocin a lot faster than if they were dry within ya system .... just a thought....
And speaking of a caps shape is more reflective of our own spine , brain and central nervous system (mycelium) and I would think spores love the water since they can inject themselves further into the soil via it , and I guess this is why the Stropharia Cubensis loves the Dung beetle , in the same respect the spore filled dung gets help by the beetles digging it into the ground where the mycelium can then propagate perhaps ??

Btw dippy , becarful with uploading maps....

Happy you found your old password for the PsyMindz account, but a request: could you please resurrect the DMT machine-scape/manga palace GIF from your old ahura account?

I miss it :crazy::rasta:

When out picking libs iโ€™ve been finding a lot of mushrooms growing from old horse dung, like ALOT! Didnโ€™t really know what they were, Ps Fimetaria after using search bar could be them, I need to do more research and collect pictures next time Iโ€™m out

Found out on our first hunt in Wessex! Possible Fimetaria/Liberty mix or just lookalikes?

We were traversing waterlogged grasslands that were being heavily grazed by horses and cows, the grass was not so long maybe 2-5cm and it was rather lumpy ground, alot of dung aswell but these shroomies seemed to prefer being next to the more waterlogged areas

Gills are all over quite dark, brownish more so than purple for the most part, ranging to almost black on some

Guessing that the 2 on the left in this one are different species from the ones on the right?

the one on the right here being the first one we found that made us think we might be on to something!

Alot of fun for our first trip! :mushroom:  :mushroom:  :mushroom:
