To What extent will wrapping plates cut down on contamination? In my microbiology lab we didn't wrap any plates and had better results working in the open air than I have had using an SAB so far.

Try keeping a control plate that you don't knock up.  I doubt your contamination is due to your lack of a wrap.  What are you inoculating with?

Secondly what do you think of this culture.  It always grows thicker than normal cubes and colonises slower.  This looks good to me but the mycellium is fluffy in the centre.  Have I been piggybacking a contam?

Yes sir, I'm not sure why I am only getting contamination to grow. I know a singe drop is all it takes and I dumped some big squirts on one or two of them. They all have the same mold growth, is it possible that my syringe is contaminated? I will try another one on my other plates.

I use the same recipe for clones, cleaning, transfers, and germing itll grow on whatever level of nutes, i dont think you'll even notice the differences if you did go thru with changing nutrition between plates.
