Hi everyone! This is my first post and I'm so thrilled.

So I've been looking for subs the past 3 months going on heaps of bush tracks on the North Shore and reading everything you guys have to offer... but came up empty handed every time.
Then today coming back from a  disappointing hunt I look out the car window at this busy intersection and I see all these mushrooms growing. I knew from a quick glance that I could be on. But it was too risky to do during the day. So on my way back from work tonight I quickly stopped and there I found a very fruitful patch. I was lucky to find them when I did because heaps of them were already dead. Anyways so happy! I'm like nearly 100% sure they're subs. But any reassurance would be nice... can't wait to enjoy my first experience.

Hi all!
Was the mid north coast just had a lot of rain!!! In the area for a while and thought I might have a look for some mushrooms. What sort of habitat should I be looking for?
Any advice would be most grateful!

If your not finding subs in these conditions in Sydney you're looking in the wrong places. I'm finding a serious abundance of mushrooms everywhere.
My mega patch has yielded a whole new array of mushrooms but unlike last time, which in the moment of excitement picked all mushrooms.
I'll wait for them to mature and get their wave, i'm estimating 250-300g. Been a great year so far.
I either didn't dry them well or my specific patch doesn't seem to be as intense as described when relating BM and Sydney mushrooms potency.
Then again I didn't grind this batch up (which i will do soon) and I only had a .4 dose. Will make a better judgement call when I jump on a solo 2-3g. Yewwww SYDNEY BABY

Morning chaps,

I need some advice. Just found a pretty big patch patch right next to where I live. Unfortunately many of them were (what appeared to be) rotten. What to do with rotten ones? I have left them, and took the healthy ones. Also left the pins etc.

Some of the ones I took home look a bit rotten (i.e broken stem etc// picture linked). Should I dispose those?

Got the itch after my find so went on to find another patch a bit further away!




I have better pictures of the rotten ones now. So what does one do with these? Just leave them? And since this patch is close to me, is it worth watering it?

Hey mate, nice patch you've found. My thoughts would be in trying to utilise every part you can. I would be looking into using those decomposing ones to start a new patch somewhere close by.
Otherwise I can't think of anything else you could use them for. Maybe take the caps off and make a spray mix or something along the lines of that. I'm sure there are teks.

Yes unfortunately appears to be no subs from your collection; but as you say, I also take great pleasure in walking in the BMs. If I find nothing, I still feel very privileged to be living in a part of the world which offers such beauty!

I recently did the Centennial Glen trail in Blackheath: A truly wonderful walk and would recommend anyone to do it. Also nearby the Coachwood Glen Nature Trail where there's plenty of interesting fungi...

Lately I’ve been having more luck in Sydney. Last week Monday I went to my spot in the BM and it was extremely difficult to find anything mature.
I normally spot a tall sub from 5 meters away but this time I had to pick a spot, squat and have a proper look around.
I have a feeling they’re growing quite slow because of how cold it is there now.
I would be looking in Sydney, I’ll be picking my patch up within the hour considering I had a look yesterday and the suns drying them up. Shame they couldn’t mature more. Goodluck

Hi All, another newb here! From the Wollongong area.

After much searching and trawling through these awesome forums I thought I’d give hunting a try.

The first spot I headed to is a pine grove out of town, huge number of Amanita Muscaria and some other mushrooms I couldn’t identify. What are people’s veiws on A.Muscarias?



I’ve also explored local parklands and around around Mt.Keira, lots of mushrooms around but nothing that seems to blue, even after a few hours.. What are people’s thoughts on id apps? I’ve tried the Mushroom Indentificator on ios, it picked the Muscarias, and suggests most of what else I collected were Boletus or Gymnopilus varieties.

I was beginning to think the world was playing a big trick on me and there were no subs growing in the Blue Mountains. Last week I tried a new place and bingo. Found about six dried grams of subs. It was a place in Leura that had old wood chips and lots of fallen eucalyptus leaves near a little watercourse next to a walkway.

Went back six days later and the council had cleared the whole area. The entire growing substrate had been swept back off the path. It is as though they were trying to get rid of them! I could see areas of mycelium that had been turned over.

What is the likelihood of them growing back in the future?

Blue Mountains foragers beware. It looks like the police are targetting magic foragers. See the attached picture. Also in last weeks Blue Mountains Gazette there was a report about a bust of a forager in Mt Victoria.

Magics are generally low priority for police but it looks like mountains police are real arseholes.

Still pick them and take the caps off n keep the stems some arnt as bad as they look
