To a certain degree

But to me every one is close minded, It's from constructing an image of who you are and how you see the world.
It's your ego and every one has one

The most powerful trips I have had in my life have been the bad trips, I have learned the most from them and they have deeply changed me for the better.

You can be open minded and are less likely to have a bad trip but that mind set can bite you in the ass

Would Mt Everest be so powerful at the top if you caught a gondola and walked the last 100 meters compared to months of training pushing your body to the upmost limit and conquering the summit?

Mushrooms are a real life drug they can show you utter bliss and your worst nightmare in one trip

Don't get your ego convince you that if you are open minded you wont go to the darkside.
They will teach you yinyang  :chilldog:

By the sounds of it you have just dipped your toes in, heavy doses are a whole different game.
You have much to learn as do I.

With proper preparation, test kit, research, and the like, its nearly impossible to have an outside influenced bad trip, once you are sure you have eliminated those non inside influences, you can rest assure the medicine is working. my recommendation is for everyone to know your mind, body, and substance before any journey. Let it heal yourself.

It depends. I've seen a few different "true realities" while tripping.

My first bad trip was caused by racing thought loops that were so fast I could neither accept nor deny them. The fact that the TV show I was watching was playing as if on 4x fast forward, but the clock was not moving, didn't help matters. I think in that case I was just overwhelmed by stimulation, and really just wanted it to be done as it was exhausting.

I have had trips bad where I felt like I was learning a "truth", and it was one I didn't like. This caused a tornado of negative thought loops and immense feelings of eternal loneliness, which to me is the worst possible feeling. I don't know if that was anything I had a choice of whether or not to accept, it was as if the mushrooms had taken over my brain, and were going to drill the thought into my head until I fully understood.

I feel like bad trips are caused more by situational things to be honest, and inappropriate timing moreless. I feel like psychedelics are almost a wildcard; that dude at the bar everyday whos just getting into fights and screaming like an idiot may just become some hippie buddhist monk dude after eating some shrooms/lsd/dmt/mesc. and other way around where a super spiritual, self-proclaimed hippie treehugging dude may take a psyche and feel the exact opposite (negative) effect due to whatever is going on in their life. maybe one is more or less likely to happen but who knows? what is open mindedness? the ability to accept new ideas?

I trip with my girlfriend strictly now.

I used to trip alone for years.

We have such a great time from beginning to end that the thought of a bad trip is a joke to us.

I am also a very good teacher when it comes to tripping with someone new such as my girlfriend. It was pure magic <3

Just stay positive and don't dose to high.

2grams for us is perfect. Not to intense but just the right amount of craziness.

Good luck

No that's not the only reason for a bad trip ime. I once had a really bad trip because I was talking too much for my friend (who was also tripping) to be able to handle it so he became non-responsive. I then began to think he was a figment of my mind and did not exist, and that thought took me to a path of never ending insanity that somehow led me to smash my phone. I'm just happy I did not try to harm myself on that trip.

I would advise you not to generalize too much when it comes to bad trips because even the most experienced psychedelic users have them sometimes.

I don't agree, at all.....

...I feel that's a rather naive & simple minded way of looking at the root cause of "bad trips". A "bad trip" can be catalyzed by such a broad spectrum of things.

How many "bad trips" have you had?...and why were they "bad" ? Where did you come up with this line of reasoning that bad trips only come from people being "closed minded" or "not accepting reality" ?

After over a decade of working with psychedelics and somewhere around 200+ trips...I've only had one single trip that I'd label as a "bad trip" or on the verge of a "freak out" (it didn't occur until after 9 years of working with psychedelics and well over 100 trips), and it had absolutely nothing to do with me being "closed minded" or "not wanting to accept true reality" ....The few times I've had to play trip sitter over the years with friends or random people, their "bad trips" also had absolutely nothing to with being closed minded or "not accepting true reality" .

No.  More like complete unending existential dread, often with no specific cause discernible.  Possibly it's a basic prototypical mammalian condition amplified by the drugs.  Typified by feeling there's no hope of release, so basically infinite regression into total blackness.  Not much fun if it happens, and it will happen if you trip enough.  But you can learn from it just like from any other trip, and of course it does pass eventually.

well I've had unpleasant trips on salvia but never on mushrooms or acid. been doing it for 15 years about.
Ive seen one major bad trip where my friend i assume passed out, woke and zombie ninja warrior-ed, fucked up his parents house, and had to spend the night in the hospital. He wasn't scared or anything... just went crazy a bit.

I have never had that kind of trip on shrooms or acid, I stay pretty lucid and aware and dont tend to freak out about stuff while im on it.

I dont get this break through, enities or ego death stuff.

hmm maybe one day ill understand what a bad trip is

Yes we are all on our own trip, moment to moment. Seeing outside culture shows you the world is a trip and/or multidimensional wilderness. At any moment, everything - EVERYTHING - is defined by your state of being/mind.

There may not be a 'world', only something that kind of hovers around in mindspace appearing as this, appearing as that.

Bad trips I've had never had to do anything to do with me being close minded.

When I was younger one bad trip was caused by me coming home when I still lived with my parents, and trying to function normally in front of them.

I've had bad trips from watching movies that were rather scary, and put me in a bad state of mind.

I've had bad trips from things becoming overstimulating, and just not being able to comprehend what was going on.

Never because of being close minded about something though.

About 8 years ago I had a trip where I took like 5 tabs of acid and these kids who I had ripped off on a drug deal invited themselves into my house when they weren't invited over about 25 minutes into my trip and continued to fuck with me for 8 hours straight till I could drink enough liquor on the comedown to muster enough liquid courage up to yell at them to get the F out.

That was a bad trip.  And you know what, it took a while to forgive them for that and I still don't think I do but I've forgiven what happened with myself.

Then I had a trip with 5 grams of shrooms, alcohol, and caffeine on the come-down that really fucked with my brain chemistry.  I wasn't respecting the shroom or any drugs at the time and it was teaching me a lesson.  I couldn't do anything but drink alcohol for a year and a half after that because I had non-stop panic attacks.  Then I started this medication called Naltrexone and since I have been healed.  Now I just smoke herb lol and live a good less crazy life.

I couldn't accept sober reality and I was using drugs as an escape so maybe I wasn't able to accept true reality?  Maybe you are right OP.  Or maybe I was just very careless.  Or both...

I also had a trip where I took a walk in the woods and at the end there were a million people and I freaked out a little when I saw them.

And I've had bad trips sitting alone in my room and from taking too much and getting in a weird headspace, maybe it was the brown acid...

But in the end with tripping comes bad trips.  So learn to accept the bad trips and they won't be as bad.

I agree. I once gave this chick a capsule of 4-aco-dmt and she said she had a bad trip because she felt so weird being by herself and all this crap about her own feelings contributing to the bad trip.

If you think being by yourself is weird then you will definitely have a bad trip if you trip by yourself. That's why set and setting is so important. You need to have the right kind of thinking and be in the right place or the psychs will reinforce already established beliefs.

I agree with the general consensus here.

I don't think bad trips are these things that are super beneficial or some kind of lesson etc. all of the time.

Many people here are under the impression that psychedelics are perfected chemicals that are borderline supernatural that can only do harm if you mistreat them and are otherwise entirely beneficial.

I think they should be thought of more as unperfected yet still mind blowingly amazing tools.

All my "bad trips" have nothing to do with any mind set stuff etc. simply just bad situations as others have said. Suddenly getting overwhelmed. Not being able to sleep. Running into someone i know and having to pretend I'm sober. etc.

And sometimes its simply just down to brain chemistry. Like the other day a single tab mind fucked me randomly to the point where my brain was just kidna fried for 8 hours and couldn't think of much apart from "what the fuck is going on" However I know a load of people who can do things like take 3 tabs just for fun after bashing cocaine for 2 days, drink a bottle of vodka and go clubbing and still have a good time.

I find some bad tripps are from people scared to let go. They allways wana be in controll an when tripping its hard to control how you feel an what you see if you never tripped before. But i know there are many diffrent factors as well to cause a bad tripp. I never had a bad trip yet i just let go an go with the flow. Tripping is not for every one i feel.

While I haven't had a trip that was like ^that^ through out the entire experience....I most definitely know how that goes :yesnod: . Mushrooms in particular bring up that theme for me more so than LSD, and it's typical for me to go through a little bit of those feels during the come up of a strong mushroom trip.

A huge variety of catalysts & reasons can bring about a "bad trip".

Simply being too high....being in a setting that's uncomfortable...existential dread....paranoid thoughts...feeling the the pain and suffering of the world...Having negative repressed memories and experiences start to bubble up to the surface...Recalling or experiencing traumatic/repressed memories all over again....The classic "I'm dying" freak out....etc etc etc....all sorts of things can make a trip really really unpleasant.

Like simply being too high for the setting.....Years ago a friend of mine took 3 doses of L while we were at this underground party (I took 1 that night and was super high). Long story short, they were some incredibly potent tabs and the setting was overly stimulating (massive sound system, lots of deep red colored lights, lots of people dancing, it was hot & humid, so humid that there was condensation "raining" down from the ceiling so everyone was soaking wet)..It was one big hot mess lol.....It was basically excruciating torture for my friend, perpetual sensory overload, he couldn't talk, he couldn't do much of anything, he barely held it together and I basically played baby sitter and followed him around all night because he was on the verge of running out of the place (and this party was in an industrial/shady part of San Francisco, so not the area to be running around with a gourd full of LSD at 3am).

The experience was so stressful and hectic for him that it left him out of sorts a bit for a couple months after.

My only "bad trip"......I've always sailed quite smoothly and keep a level-sensible head when the going gets weird. But that all went out the window for me one night.

It was brought about by a single thought. The thought was something along the lines of "What if I was seen picking the mushrooms earlier today" , then from there paranoid thoughts started to spiral out of control.

I picked some mushrooms from some patches in my town one day but they were all in very open public places, one of them was in the landscaping of a bank. Later that night I took about 2g of allenii in tea.

2 to 3 hours after drinking the tea the thought of getting caught up with what I had came about (several ounces dry, and a few pieces of cardboard spawn). This thought quickly started to fester and spiral out of control. My "level headed-ness" went out the window, paranoid thoughts & imagery started to manifest only reinforcing this thought & feeling that I had been seen picking the mushrooms and a search warrant on my place was likely inevitable .

As this worry, fear, and paranoia blossomed I started to feel very hot....a hot & itchy, pins & needles dysphoric feeling swept across my body, inside and out. I soon tore all my clothes off and was pacing around bare ass naked in my room, pulling my hair about every which way.

After about a minute of being stuck in the state of "I'm fucked, I'm absolutely fucked" , I changed modes into "No, I'm not going to let this happen". I got a trash bag and immediately began to throw away the cardboard spawn I had going, and some mushrooms I had drying at the time. (my dry mushrooms was the next thing I was going to grab, and it was going down the toilet). Once everything was in the bag I put on some shorts (fortunately I remembered to put at least one piece of clothing back on) and darted out the front door....Now mind you it's about 3am & 25 degrees or so outside and all I have on is a pair of swimming trunks...no boxers, no shoes, no shirt....along with some crazed saucer eyes.

I had no idea where I was going or what I was going to do with the bag I had in hand  , I just wanted to get rid of it and out of my possession ASAP . I made it to the center-line of the road in front of my place, looked left, looked right....at this point a little bit of sense & clarity of mind came through and said "This is how you're going to get caught, get the fuck back inside the house now" .

I ran back into the house with the bag still in hand, still chock full of fear and panic. There were brief moments where I could see how ridiculous I was acting and have some clarity, but the fear kept engulfing me....I desperately needed to talk to someone about the situation I was in. I repeatedly tried calling the only friend I knew I could talk to about what was happening, no answer.

I lived with my sister & her BF at the time and made the decision to knock on her door. Straight away I told her I was on mushrooms and tried to explain to her that I needed her BF to give me a ride to a trash can so I could get rid of what I had . She's not experienced with psychedelics what so ever and didn't really understand the seriousness of what "I" was going through  , and probably a bit annoyed that I was waking her up at 3am for such a thing . But she was patient and as understanding as she could be I guess lol. She explained that it would be very sketchy to drive around and dump something like that somewhere in the middle of the night, I understood her point and agreed.

...Around this point of talking to my sister, I start to come down and realized the absurdity of how I was acting, though still filled with fright and not knowing what to do with my self. I apologized to her, told her I was coming down and that we could resolve this in the morning, and I was going to try to chill out & calm my self.

Shortly after this my friend called me back...I spoke to him for a few minutes explaining the whole ordeal, there was still quite a lot of lingering anxiety and fear but the "panic" had subsided. Just talking to someone helped tremendously, I was already laughing at my self but still stressed the fuck out in a way that I've never felt before.

I spent the next couple hours coming down, going inward trying to create and nestle up in a calm & cozy internal space.

The entire experience was very humbling in a way, to say the least. Like mentioned, I've always remained cool & level headed during all my previous experiences with psychedelics....What triggered this little freak out for me was that I rarely have anything in my possession other than a gram or two of pot, and if I do have something other than pot it's a mere dose or two worth.....so I've never had any worries about getting caught up with possession of something that could actually put me behind bars.

Potentially being seen and ID'd as the one picking the mushrooms and having some "weight" on me for the first time ever planted the thought of getting caught up and put behind bars (literally my biggest fear)...and it all spiraled out of control from there. For the next couple weeks after I was a bit rattled from the fear and anxiety I went through that night, but it's made me even more wise & careful about these sorts of things.

I know this is a really old thread, so sorry. This just happened to me. I used mushrooms to get sober from alcohol (13 months, yeah!!),  and I was tripping every 2-6 weeks - high doses. I had some disturbing things happen, but manageable, and so much wonder and  magic and hard work. But last night I experienced several hours of nothing but hopelessness…I didn’t believe in myself or anyone I know and felt completely alone in existence. It was the most horrible and lonely feeling I could ever imagine. One message I got is that I need to lay off the mushies for a long time, maybe for good. But I’m also worried that I’m permanently fucked up and will never be happy behind β€œthe veil” again.

Somebody who’s been there - please tell me it goes away!  I’m so sad my mushies turned on me.

It sounds like you're putting too much emphasis on the mushroom and not your own mind. Maybe you felt that way because there is a reason that has nothing to do with mushrooms.
Mushrooms bring things to the forefront that we may carry deep inside (as I'm sure you know) it did it to you this time in a way that is unfamiliar to you.
Maybe laying off mushrooms will help but I feel like trips like that just happen too.
It will fade just like how after a "good" trip that sensation leaves in time.

Perhaps the message they were sending you, or you uncovered in yourself (however you see it), was simply that mushrooms aren't the answer to any of your questions right now.  It seems like people get the message when it is needed.  Sometimes it's to give a chance to walk independently on a path that doesn't include ingesting them.

I've watched my best friend go back and forth between alcohol abuse and mushroom use for almost 30 years.  He gets really great messages from mushrooms but never follows through.  It sucks to see him throw wisdom out the window.

Going back to alcohol is nothing to do with wisdom, it's about understanding the psychological mechanism of addiction. Once you realise which parts of your thoughts are addiction and which parts are you it's easy to separate and dismiss the addiction.

And...

Difficult trips will happen if you take psychedelics regularly. There is no escaping that. It's not a world of rainbows and marshmallows, it's mirror of our cognition. For example, if we didn't get a good night sleep the night before, ate a meal that didn't really agree with us at lunch, were maybe exposed to a virus that our body is fighting off but don't really feel, but generally we we to feel okay... then we take psychedelics, it can bring all of this minor stuff that's not really identifiable to a great big sort of existential crisis. All the little things just make it a damned nightmare. Fear and dread can kick in, but it's hard to identify why or what is going on. Sooner or later we get a rough one.

I've tripped 100's, maybe 1000's of times, and it still happens from time to time. I just ride it out, don't freak out, chalk it up to experience. Even scary trips are kinda curious if you've been there before and don't let it take over your emotions.

I am more surprised by people who seem nonchalant about psychs as if it is a walk in the park.

Sure, many a bad trip can be avoided by the correct set and setting and reasonable dosage. But psychs can put you through a ringer no matter what imho.

How open-minded do you need to be to accept psychedelic death fully with a smile on your face? How can you not freak out?

Sure, you can "let go" and see bliss on the other end. Or you can get stuck dying over and over and over again for eternity...

Mind you, I have never had a "full on" bad trip myself, yet I am terrified every time I come close to mushrooms.

My last bad one was with shrooms. I would classify 'bad' as anything that extends for most of the duration of the experience (not just the initial come up).

I thought I had long since mastered the whole surrender/let go thing, but that night, I was just using those mantras as magical words that would allow me to do no such thing!

For whatever reason, that night, I just wasn't in the mood to surrender.

Felt I was on the verge of complete alien auto-pilot/take over at one point, but I got into bed and followed my old rule. Do not move, no matter what they tell/show you! All I could do was suffer and fight my attempt to fight it for a few hours!

Was a good trip eventually (I've only ever had one trip that was bad even in hindsight) and one I look back on with fondness and nostalgia now.

Sometimes you just have to suffer!

I find that the best way of avoiding bad trips is to use psychedelics less frequently.

In a way it's kind of like friendships.

If you are a bit of novelty then people will often be more likely to welcome and enjoy your company!

Spend too much time together however and both parties tend to start getting on each others nerves and winding each other up.

Same with the entities, or spending too much alone-time with manifestations of ones own subconscious!

Sooner or later it will turn on you!

Or, at least, mine will!

I am only nonchalant about low and moderate doses.

btw, wisdom and alcohol occasionally seem to get all blended together and I am not sure much can be done about it.

Alan Watts' son complained he was a drunk. then again https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=drunken+buddhas
this is often the case, although the older buddhas will likely seem drunk anyway, and if they get much alcohol it can kill them on the spot.

then there is this sort of thing
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/michael-stone-yoga-dead-1.4218210
when the opiate call of the flesh toys with the clever little Buddha in our heads.

Michael Stone did a lot for the furtherance of mindfulness training in Canada.

I love PS's posts!  I think he was "last seen" a few months ago?  Hope he's okay!

Thank you to everybody for the responses!  It helps just to hear from others who have been there.  I definitely am not nonchalant about psychedelics - I found someone underground to help me out of desperation, because I could not stand living as an alcoholic anymore, after 20 years.  I learned how to grow them, did lots of research, tripped with people, decided that they were more distracting than helpful, tripped alone.  I've had a few hard trips.  I only grow PE and I took large doses because I was on antidepressants.  I've since weaned off of those, and I still seemed to need large doses to do anything other than a recreational trip.  I think this has changed.  If I do this again, I'm going to assume my brain receptors have grown back and I no longer need the huge quantities.

I've made it a point to make each trip a ceremony, with lots of ritual, just to differentiate it from getting fucked up on alcohol.  But I think I've started to use it as a crutch.  I always want to get back to that point of connection, where everything makes sense and has a reason, everything is easy, and there's nothing to fear.  But maybe that's the same thing as chasing a high, at this point?  I don't know.

This last trip, there was NO good whatsoever.  I wasn't panicked - I was just numb.  I couldn't think of anything that mattered.  Every person in the world seemed like AI - I'm actually still struggling with this a little.  It's the worst feeling I could imagine - being completely alone, being able to do whatever I want, and not being able to think of a single thing I want or that matters.  Eating, sleeping, joy...whatever.  It was just total emptiness.  Being raised by Southern Baptist missionaries (and never having alcohol until I became a lawyer at age 31), when my trips get challenging, it's easy to feel that I'm damned to hell, and I deserve it for not going to church and reading my Bible. So yeah, there's definitely some underlying stuff and history going on there.  (Then again, I've had some pretty amazing Jesus moments out there, when I thought I had turned my back.  Even made me dig back in the Bible a bit.)

I agree that you can do this too frequently.  I'm going to take a long break and enjoy being sober and trying to regulate my emotions in other ways - therapy, friends, breathing, yoga, scuba diving, maybe meditation.  I've got plenty of mushies if I want them later.

I wish this stuff were legal and available by trained professionals.  When I tell people my story, they tend to want me to trip sit.  I've done it a bit, and it's so impossible to predict what the medicine is going to do and now it's going to conflict with people's expectations.  I took a trip sitting course, but I think I'm retired from that endeavor.

I started to attend an online recovery meeting last night to see if it would help get me back (haven’t been to one of those in a while, they never helped me get sober). It’s a women’s group called She Recovers. I’m sure they’re wonderful, but they all started their shares with their pronouns and litany of things they’re recovering from and spoke in such careful terms so as not to offend anyone for any reason…I had the creepiest feeling they were all AI and the world had ended. I said NOPE and turned it off.

Rational recovery is a way out of alcoholism. I figured a lot of it out myself with other addictions, but the book really helped with alcohol. I know it's not for everyone, but it does work for many people.

Oy, I’m not sure my protocol would be helpful. I had been on SSRIs for several years, so it took probably around 6-7 g of APE my first time (in three doses).  I stayed at between 6-10 g after that. Sometimes, it was too much, and I got my ass kicked. I became much more careful about measuring my doses and also (on advice of my therapist) asked the shroomies permission before taking any more.

I’m just a hack trying to figure stuff out on my own. Very grateful I’m not drinking 1.5-2 bottles of wine per day. I wish I could be more helpful. I wish everybody who’s an addict could go to the Johns Hopkins guys and get their hands held.

Okay, I must respectfully disagree. People return to alcoholism because the insights they uncover with psychedelics don't compute with the world they must return to. People go back to wanting to feel numb. We live in a cruel society = rampant alcoholism. The Russians aren't just boozing morons. They live in an even more cruel society. I know three people very close to me who are dead from alcoholism. I know what causes it and it isn't just "alcohol addiction disorder." A.A. ... I've been in A.A., and the whole thing is based on alcoholism being literally an "allergy." That is just plain nonsense. A.A is a re-education camp.

Quote:
Life, as we find it, is too hard for us; it brings us too many pains, disappointments and impossible tasks. In order to bear it we cannot dispense with palliative measures... There are perhaps three such measures: powerful deflections, which cause us to make light of our misery; substitutive satisfactions, which diminish it; and intoxicating substances, which make us insensible to it.

I'll give you an example. In A.a. they stick you in a big room full of other people and, through coercion, get you to openly confess to being merely "an addict," and then they use that as evidence that your alcoholism or addiction comes from the simple Christian dogma that you are fundamentally debauched and greedy for pleasure at the expense of reason. This is why my friend Nelly May drank herself to death with Canadian Mist in the back woods of southern Louisiana. She knew it was all a lie. It is just like how in North Korea they make you confess to crimes, and then sentence you to work camps. It is just a softer version. Unfortunately it leads people to suicide. So it is arguably worse. Wolves in sheep's clothing. But they are robot wolves doing the bidding of the actual wolves.

Humans drink for a myriad of reasons. Addiction is a multi multifaceted beast and can not be distilled down to 'society is cruel'.

People wouldn't drink otherwise. I've seen hundreds of people brainwashed by A.A. yes, I can speak for others who cannot speak for themselves, and I can speak for myself, because I used to drink a bottle of Tanqueray every day with my husband. I also come from an alcoholic family. Both of my parents are alcoholics, my brother was a world class bartender who served drinks to the likes of Carlos Santana and other stars. Two of my grandparents are alcoholics, and one of them is recovered (with religion).

The word 'addiction' is bullshit anyway for the most part. My husband's mother shot him up with methamphetamine when he was 13 years old and got him hooked on it. He got off it by himself when he was 16, and he says the same exact thing. It is a substitute. It is escape from pain. That is the source. 'Addiction' is how people are sucked into systems that don't give a shit about them and are designed by people who want obedient workers. Addiction is a lie. Finding yourself and recognizing an inner meaningfulness that can combat the pain (and unnecessary struggle caused by a cruel society ran by sociopaths) is the only way to actually stop seeking numbing agents, and excuses and substitutions, which is exactly what religion is, and is exactly why so many people call Alcoholics Anonymous a cult.

No you're wrong about the roots of addiction. As a person who has lived through addiction several times over and come out of it all, you're simply wrong.

Whatever the treatment scams and mistreatment around it all is, that's not the point. It's not even a point, it's just diffusion.

And just to amend that... I don't like the term 'ex boyfriend.' We still talk, and we still care about each other, and my husband knows and understands completely. It is called care and concern. You don't cross someone out of your life whom you loved.. and once you truly love someone, that never disappears. Blahblah people 'move on'... and often to heartlessness. There is such a thing as staying true to love, even though it may take careful consideration. Anything that actually matters and is real is possible. It's just that so many people don't make the effort, and so people think many things are impossible, and they act as such, which reinforces the false notion that they are indeed impossible, and that there would be no point in trying at all. Etc. Etc. Yeah.

If we are able to communicate ideas, we share the world.

Guarantee housing and universal basic income, guarantee that workers choose what is produced democratically for the benefit of their human race and community, guarantee access to affordable healthcare that doesn't bankrupt a 75 year old man and put him in a hotel which then puts him out on the streets! Guarantee an education not designed to put people in the hands of the rich who use them for their own interests. Guarantee freedom of speech, guarantee that elected officials will not be bribed against the wishes of their constituents. Guarantee a free internet and access to telecommunications not designed to program people. Guarantee that algorithms cannot be produced to hypnotize people and manufacture their consents. Guarantee the police are not pawns of corrupt lawyers and judges who own jails and imprison people for exploring their own consciousnesses! Guarantee that water is not poisoned. Guarantee that the soil is not poisoned. Guarantee communal food production and affordable access to healthy food. Guarantee that commercialized drugs cannot be pumped to people by fake experts owned by pharmaceutical executives, along with faulty medical devices manufactured specifically for poor people, reserving what actually works for the richest of the rich.

But for the first time in 20 years, I don’t have to make sure I’ve got enough alcohol to make me pass out every day.  I’m not going to say I’m β€œcured,” but I just don’t think about it much anymore. I’ve lost 40 pounds and strengthened many of my relationships.

I’m still pretty shaken from that last trip, and I’ve had some other hard ones, but I wouldn’t take  them back to be back where I was 14 months ago. I’ve also had some pretty wonderful experiences.  Including  joining the community here, most of the time.  πŸ˜‚

Thank you, that was still helpful even if I don't think there's any chance they'll want to take doses that big

Please bear in mind that my research suggested that many people on long-term SSRIs need 30-50% more to get the same effect. I am pretty sure I fell into that category. So yes, that’s a huge dose, but not as huge as it would be on a regular brain. And I won’t take that much again, since I’m pretty sure my brain has returned to its normal state after being off of antidepressants for a good while.

I have also noticed that people who have gone through prolonged adrenal fatigue also have a hard time trippin and tend to require a lot more of a dose and still don't get all the powerful subtle energy layers.

Many people on long term SSRIs are completely immune to mushrooms. Neurochemistry is a hella complex topic that is really not well understood.

My wife was immune to mushrooms on one SSRI, another they just made her feel angry (odd I know) but LSD works great on her. Her last trip was actually enviable. She saw the universe and all its connections all at once.

If she eats the L first do the mushrooms then work while in the throws of the L?

L folds cells in a special way...

No idea, she's not a tripper like me. Only has a go every year or two, or three. I don't think I'd encourage her to stack psychedelics, might be a bit wild for her. :tongue2:

Perhaps a bad trip is tied to something deep down like the Oedipus complex.

You might be accessing essential elements of your psych that you aren't normally aware of, but that have a very strong hold on your whole existence.

I can imagine a baby/toddler feeling like it's having a bad trip when it has it's narcissistic security in being the center of affection blasted away by feelings of alienation and rejection by the universe/mother.

It might be just like any other trip matter, but it's uncomfortable because it's manifesting a part of you that you aren't familiar with.

Every day, you avoid the practice of starving yourself of universal love and narcissistic reinforcing narratives. You do the opposite. So you are skilled and familiar with that territory of your mind. You like it.

But that horror you feel during a bad trip is probably something we all are carrying around with us locked away deep down.

So while blissful feelings are familiar to us, Because we constantly strive to embrace those feelings,on the other hand, dark feelings seem intrusive, even though they are just as big a part of us and play a massive role in how we operate.

After all, what is it that keeps you constantly running from some imagery dread?

It must be the dread deep down inside of you that keeps you fighting to be the center of universal affection.

Maybe you are just tackling your Oedipus complex, or some sort of similar mechanism of your normal psychology.

That's why I'm so eager to take the bad with the good while tripping.

There are parts of us that we find uncomfortable, and those parts don't get enough recognition, acceptance, and mental working out.

Bad isn't always bad. Sometimes it's just part of you.

Edit: my signature below is my description of of a bad trip.

"existential mystery" "abhorrently sublime"

I'm describing the wonder and amazement "awe"/"revelry of the power behind a bad trip.

That amazement for how horribly it is, will carry you across to the other side.

So you can imagine how I don't view a bad trip as a negative thing, but more like a novel experience that you have to give credit to.

It's a unique experience to encounter those uncomfortable aspects of life in such a powerful way

Forgiveness is the road to peace, and forgiveness requires you to look at the realities of uncomfortable truths about yourself.

Take the good with the bad...... take um like you get um.πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

--------------------
Just take um like you get um.

Those ephemeral spasms of infinity, in suspended animation, born across a boundless ether of existential misery aloft a revelry (of awe) for the abhorrently sublime.

Thanks for the perspective, Sub-easy - love it!  I do feel like my brain/mind is not ready for whatever the reality is out there. And I guess it’s telling me that too much medicine too frequently can become a problem, and I need to moderate.
