Hey does anyone know good way's to come down from a bad trip ?? (ie.) Other drugs ? Activities ? Or just things in general that would calm you down, and put you in a different/positive frame of mind ?

I'm told that thorazine will abort many trips, but that's a hospital type thing. For casual psychonauts, I suggest
Laying off the scary music
Giving them some sensory input to distract them, maybe a movie
Put them in the bathroom (patterened tiles are non-trippy)
Telling them that the effects of the drug are only temporary
telling them they are in a safe place
telling them that they are loved.

I agree with your other suggestions mostly (not thorazine I hear it's like a mental straight jacket)... Some anti-anxiety like Benozs (valium or xanax or rophynol or something) or some opiates might help reduce anxiety/increase happiness...
Those are the best in my experience.
Ice on the nuts or a cold shower may shock them out of it too but is not the most pleasant..
Take my word for it.

nothings impossible, but this isnt likely.
The effects of psychedelics are very similar to that of schizophrenia, but most schizo hallucinations and mind trips are negative. So i guess if you had latent schizophrenia and the mushrooms triggred somthing you could stay on the trip FOREVER! muhuahahaha!

Hmmm, I have heard that psychedelics cure schizophrenia. Also what if you have border line schizophrenia ? I do not have any of these but I am curious to know.

I've found the best way to stop a bad trip is to stop trying to stop the bad trip.
By trying to stop the trip, your'e automatically thinking about it more and more, verifying "is it still there?" and even if its gone, the fact that you're thinking "is it still there?" will lead you back to it.... its a train of thought something like this:
If a "newcomer" is to take shrooms or acid or something, and suddenly think the cops are comming, or thier parents just walked in, or the all-time classic among people I know and I: "Are my friends not enjoying themselves?" and "Oh NO I'm I going to be stuck like this FOREVER?! I've REALLY done it this time! They were right! I'm gunna be screwed for life!! I have to WORK in 2 days..." I belive it is mainly attributed to the idea spread around by the war on drugs that "drugs are bad." People take these drugs and feel SOOOOOOOOO fantastic, TOO fantastic, so they start searching thier mind for something that CAN go wrong and ruin the whole thing. Its almost self-punishment for doing such "naughty" things ;-)
By doing so, they "flip/freak out" and as can happen on drugs, thier dreams become a reality for a hopefully short period of time. SO much thinking goes on during these moments it is utterly fascinating.
It can get carried exponentially further when the person realizes they're freaking out, but doesn't get up and do anything to settle down. I've tripped out with internal dialogs somewhat resembling:
Holy @!#$ this is so awesome!
I hope nothing lame happens to ruin my good time.
Oh no did "something" just happen?
Oh no "something" just happened!
God dammit "something" just happened and i'm all disabled on drugs
Nothing just happened, why did I think something happened? Everything's cool.
Everything's REALLY cool!
Holy @!#$ this is SO AWESOME!
Holy @!#$ this is TOO AWESOME!! Is something wrong? Did "something" happen?
No nothing happened, what's wrong with me? Oh no I'm going crazy! Good GOD I've really screwed myself THIS time!
Usually in these cases the person doesn't want to move. Get some water, eat a piece of bread, sit up straight, and try to relax. Observe your peaceful surroundings. Offer a bong-hit to a friend if you're tripping with somebody (although smoking one might intensify whatever's going on, so just give one to somebody else to prove to yourself that you're still capable of human interaction and connection)
The trick is to understand that the outside world is still operating normally, just like it did yesterday, and JUST LIKE IT WILL BE DOING TOMORROW, with YOU along WITH it. Then realize that you're wasting your trip thinking about your trip being wasted and get back into the flow!

There are different types of schizophrenia. Serotonergic psychedelic trips are actually very different than most types of psychosis. Back in the 50's and 60's they were researched as agents that would cause a "model psychosis".This was later abandoned because they actually only had a few similarities to schizophrenia.Most people that are fully psychotic usually have complex audio hullucinations more often than visual ones.
Not that psychedelics have absolutely nothing in common with certain forms of schizophrenia,but to say they make people "crazy" is probably too generalized a statement.
People with hardcore mental disorders should probably avoid psychedelic drugs though.

If you want to trip for ever jut go to the doctors and complain about depression, try and get some long lasting MAOI. Some of these can take upto a month to start working and about 6-7 week to stop working. Then simply eat up the shrooms and never come down for a long time.

and a nice cup of cocoa or chamomile tea can do wonders...
even standing on the earth in bare feet can "ground" ya ...
a couple valium can take the edge off...
check on the 'net for something like "the good trip guide" & info on handling rough trips at places like lycaeum & erowid...

Get a drink of water. Take a piss. Go outside to take a breather (if you're tripping indoors). Change of scenery/music. Focus on breathing, try and relax your body and hopefully your mind will follow. Small things seem to help.

In my personal experience I have to say that bathrooms are the craziest while tripping! There is always some type of crazy wall paper or something there to entertain you. I also always begin to feel the first effects of my trip coming on while I am in the bathroom....

i keep a bottle of xanax handy for emergencies,3-4mg. will abort a high dose trip
this is true for other benzo`s.i have tested it
i never abort a trip just because it`s bad. only if there`s an emergency that i would have to take care of, like a fire in my house or one of my kid`s nead medical attention,ext.
bad trips can be the most important kind they can be horrible but you might be working out some important stuff. aborting in the middle of this leaves this unresolved and can make you depressed after word for a long time.
try some positive music and try to stop thinking. bad trips are useally your mind clinging to stuff which produces panic. let go and be free

watch the cartoon network, those shows make no sence when your tripping and they will make you laugh at the mass confusion. Jus lay down, watch cartoons and know everything will be ok a a couple of hours. After its over your gona wonder what you were so worried about.

I would not recommend weed as it makes the trip more intense (for me anyway).
The cartoon thing was a good idea, also you can try eating food and drinking plenty of fluids this really seems to bring me down from a trip.

for some people weed can inrease anxiety and paranoia making the trip worse espesialy if there prone to anxiety and is why there having a bad trip
and for others it could help
weed has such a wide variety of effects depending on the peson that this would be up to the pesonality of the one having the bad trip
personaly i wouldn`t smoke with someone freakin out unless i knew it had a calming effect
for me weed makes my trips stronger which i useually like

maybe you feel like drinkin water calms you down. But it does not "wash all the psilocybin out of your system". Psilocybin can be found in different parts of your body up to a week later.

My experience is to turn off all outside stimulation. Huddle up somewhere, where you feel safe and try to stay in a calm mood. Then it comes down to waiting it out.

Take a really nice E.
If you're having a bad time on shrooms then it's not really a problem because they don't last that long anyway. But a real nasty one on acid can go on for days, so take some E and give yourself some nicer thoughts and feelings.

I've taken an E when i've been bad tripping on acid a few times, and it's really helped. I've also had some bad ones without E and I know which I prefer.
Think of the difference between acid on it's own or in a candy flip. If you're having a really bad time on acid then drop an E and turn it into a candy flip.
Bear in mind that this is not a good idea if you've got a dodgy E, you could make a bad situation a lot worse if you downed a ketamine laced pill.
It's like I can't deal with acid and shrooms at the same time unless I take E with them. Acid, shrooms and E is a really nice combination, but acid and shrooms on their own is a total headfuck.
Well that's how my head works anyway.

I would never go with such advice. If you're already fucked I dont think you should be taking any more. If you're having a bad trip.. deal with it. Dont run away, confront it. Explore, you'll soon find your self sitting in intrancing thoughts about your inner self. Bad trips are a whole mind fuck that feed off of themselves. If you dont explore and learn from this I think you will never reduce your chances of having them. So next time... go ahead, change that music, go for a walk, talk to some people, but dont just put it aside wondering if its still there. Dont just blur it by flooding your receptors in order to forget about it, change your mood from the inside as well. Exceptance is the first step.

MDMA [and similar chemical structures] are causing among others Empathogenesis, which means it will actually help a bad tripper to feel more comfortable with the enviroment and the people around.
BUT -
MDMA will also make the bad tripper's (from shrooms) heart bounce like a compressor pumpin out the water of a well. lol. anyway, i think its a risk, MDMA will help for the first hour, but when its coming down, the combination with Psilocin perhaps will be toooooooo tiring for a bad-tripper.
In general, i say when you are in a bad trip, say to yourself: "am i in a bad trip?" the answer will come so fuckin easy. "Yeap". And then, you can reply to yourself: "fuck! potent stuff. i will just lie down here and wait till i am better. I know i am safe and healthy and its only a matter of time till i feel cool again." Then start thinking of nice things.
Thats what i do and it works for me 100000%

I don't know why almost every psychonaut i've ever come across has had an almost rabid whiskyphobia. Booze will take the edge off any harsh trip. Yes I know this defeats the point of the psychedelic experience, but booze is always around, not everybody has instant access to benzos or E, and there are times when a trip needs to be aborted: (this happened)some moron broad just broke up with her boyfriend, ate a bunch of acid at a party to make herself feel better and now shes on the floor crying, her friends left her there, and she can barely comunicate. GIVE HER A SHOT. It will take the edge off. Then, give her another.

Have a read, and next time you're up on shrooms munch a bar of pure dark chocolate and see what happens.
I've got a few more experiments to try with this, I need to work out how much of the effect was due to the chocolate and how much the sugar, but it would help the scientific method greatly if a few others would join in.

Milk and sugar.
A guy i saw in Amsterdam was selling his freshly grown shrooms to a bunch of people. And one of them asked what to do in case of a bad trip. He said to drink milk with lots of sugar and it would bring them down in about 10 mins.
Haven't tried it myself yet, but I've also heard from other people it works great.

i had a bad trip on weed and on lsa. On the other hand on salvia i was seeing devils and stuff like that but they all seemed so funny.
Anyway a good way to stop a bad trip is to find the cause of it and try to solve it.

1) ride it out
2)take more acid/mush

If you're having a bad trip, remember to breath, and just focus on big deep comfortable breaths. The "bad trip" will fade away (or it should). Don't trip yourself out though.. that's really the only way you can have a bad trip IME. You know what you're getting into.. once you eat the drugs you gotta know what you're in for and you should try to enjoy it

Had to make the comment, it was too funny not to. I actually did turn my head away and close my eyes and refocus to make sure it was an animated .gif or something or just me.
Still, there's always fun to be had from old posts. If not, there'd be very few boards still going out there. Forums in general are kept alive and exciting by peaople unknowingly answering 10 yaer old posts or, unfortunately, trolls. It's like going past a car crash.

Old post? Why care. It's sort of like dissing a library because the books have been on the shelves for a long time. Anyhow, aside from Benzos, if you can make it to the shower take a cold one, or a hot one. Thermoregulation is usually a key component of a trip. Shocking your body will ground you.

I find alcohol is great for calming someone down and losing paranoid thoughts, I have used it many times to smooth a trip out and take away any paranoid feelings, negative thoughts, alcohol is a pretty crap drug but it is good for ridding the mind of fear, It will not bring you down but it will help if a trip becomes too negative or paranoid.
I recommend no more than an amount that would get you a little drunk "tipsy" even, the idea is not to get drunk but just to relax the part of the mind that worries
I also realise that people will frown upon someone suggesting to use alcohol on a trip, but many would frown on someone using mushrooms. It's worked for me and others facing some pretty intense thoughts and it works pretty fast.

I KNOW some will disagree with me on this! For me when I have been "peaking" to hard I have been able to use weed to knock me down a bit. Something for me about hitting a bong a few times that calms me down and keeps me level. I much prefer weed while tripping for some reason, although I never feel like I am getting high lol.
