Just bought some toys to play with;

got myself a bottle for pour agar, some pre-sterilized petri dishes, whatmans and synthetic filter discs (btw it says Particle Retention = 2 to 3μmm on the package, that must equal 0.2-0.3 microns as 1 micron is 1 μm right?)

Can't wait to try pouring agar for the first time and make LC lids and try LC also for the first time .)

Turns out that the bearings in the blade aren't water/air tight, duh, so if let to sit for an hour or so moisture will be present on the outside...

Actually now that I look closer at it, there is a cup facing downwards directly under the blades... I'm assuming it works in the same way that the gooseneck in a toilet works... So as long as you aren't tipping the jar around side to side there shouldn't be an issue with that... Also right at the top center of the blades there is a piece on the end of the shaft that holds the blades on... It also isn't water/air tight... It actually has a little extra space that lets the blades move up and down slightly, and again this is an assumption, but its probably like that to allow the blades to jump up and down slightly so there is less of a chance of getting in a bind when blending ice or some shit... So I am putting some silicone on that piece to seal it up. That will not allow the blades to move up and down anymore, but I'm just blending agar so it won't matter... Hopefully that'll stop the leaking issue so that I can trust this thing... It'll probably need a little bead of silicone between the actual blades too.

Shit glad you posted this and I saw it before I tried to make one.. guess I'll just stick with my lid.

One question: Is that a new blade? I've got an old one that leaks through the blade, but I've left my new one that I use for drinks out all night with liquid in it and have yet to wake up to a puddle, the thing doesn't even seem damp

This is how I did mine before I got an Eberbach unit, its water tight but I couldn't get it silicones properly so it was a two piece lid. Kinda hard to work with :shrug:

$220 spent in total. I don't quite care about the pre-filter being 100% as this is just a temporary one until we get the 36x36 filter.

The inside down cup part prevents liquids from going up and around it as long as you aren't flipping it upside down it shouldn't leak... I didn't actually check if the water is leaking from between the end piece and the blades, so maybe it doesn't... Yeah it is a new blade.

Sorry about that. I had originally used the image tag and the pic was huge.

Took me a minute but I figured out how to upload.

I didn't take one of the flame... but if I leave the fan on max setting the lighter will blow out... a little bit above medium and a good constant bend is throughout the table space in front.

I am using a 440 CFM fan with a 12x24x3" hepa filter with 150PA and a 1 inch prefilter with assumed 25PA. I know the prefilter isn't super secured but it is better than nothing until we upgrade to the bigger filter.
