ID help please Dunedin NZ

Species 1:

Habitat:
Woodchips

Gills:
attached grayish in smaller ones darker in the older ones

Stem:
solid white

Bruising:
Dark black/blue bruising

Still waiting on spore print.


Species 2:

Habitat:
woodchips

gills:
White attached

Stem:
White hollow

Bruising:
Blue bruising

I think some of the specimens in your first collection may even be Psilocybe makarorae (didn't realise they were this far down south?). Second are P. subaeruginosa for sure.

Woah woah, you're in Dunedin, right? First Dunedin confirmation if so!

The second ones at least look like subs, but some of the top ones look weird?

I agree -- in fact, I think the majority are P. makarorae. There are two with a significantly thicker stipe, which look a lot more like subs (the big-ish one with a cracked cap towards the lower-third, and the mushroom immediately below the highest mushroom), but even then the cap colour is weird.

Could we get some higher-resolution pictures? Quite a cool find.

Also, I had a little look around, and there was a collection of P. makarorae recorded from Dunedin in 1967, apparently. I found that out from this journal article.

Oh derp ofc you're in Dunedin. Since it literally states that in the title... SMH.

I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and have a good hunt around, to see if I can find a patch or three.
