ID 4 NZ mushrooms
    #5596627 - 05/06/06 12:49 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Found these in a woodchip garden. I was told about this spot from an old shroomer.
Spore print is purple, though it doesnt show up well on my camera.

The only thing is that it doesnt bruise blue?

Can anyone tell what it is?

I was thinking it look like a Psilocybe subaeruginosa, though unsure if these bruise blue.

that looks more like a hypholoma - subaeruginosa stains strongly blue - if it doesnt stain blue then it aint a sub.

Thanks bluemeanie

I see the hypholoma species is editable...though not 100% conviced it is a hypholoma spec so will not try it out.

some hypholoma are edible while others are quite poisonous. THere are a lot of woodlovers that grow in similar places to subs are very poisonous so i wouldnt eat them.

What are subs supposed to spore print like? BM do you have a pic of a sporeprint? Are they purple/brown or vary between both colours?

My friend said they use to get loads of mushrooms from this small spot but then they just stop growing?

I was thinking more likely that someone was always beating them to it.

Is it plausable that the mushrooms where over picked?

I'm with bluemeanie on this one. They're not active and not worth messing with.

the spore print is usually classic purpleish, not brownish. The eucalypta variant has a more brownish sporeprint but its still purpleish brown rather than smoky brown or brown.
