yeah but wait. ive experimented with a few ratios and i have one more coming. im about to post an updated one with the 2 quart slurry. that one is a better ratio. its 2 quarts blended and poured into 9 quarts of substrate. its fruiting after day 12. my grow room temps were sky high today though. i still have to make a few adjustments to the new growroom.

THAI LIPA YAI: WBS 2 QUART GRAIN SLURRY TRIAL #1

Substrate Ratio Per Tub:

1:4.5 Ratio Spawn:substrate
  • 2 Quarts of WBS grain slurry spawn
  • 9 Quarts Volume: 3/4 Brick Coir/ 1 Quarts Verm/ 1 cups gypsum/4 Quarts water
  • 1.5" Sub Depth

TUB 1 YIELD: TOTAL 105 g 3.75 oz
1st: 73g
2nd: 32g
3rd: Had to dump the tub as family is in town. But it was looking great 3 days after a dunk.

13 days from spawn to harvest
]

FULL PROCEDURE: GRAIN WAS PREPPED USING FOOMAN'S GRAIN TEK IN 2 HOURS

MADE 40 QUARTS WBS GRAIN JARS FROM 1 PF JAR SLURRY (THAI CLONE FOR A TEST RUN BELOW)
1st Flush:

2nd Flush:

NOTES:
Dry yield wasn't anything special just normal. 73 grams. the substrate depth was only about 1.5" thick with no casing. 13 days from spawn to harvest. 23 days from clone to fruit. lighting speed! dunked for a 2nd flush. I plan on attempting this with a 5 tub uncased and 5 tub cased test next to get a wider range of results. The speed goal was met, yield was fair and the grow was extremely easy. I need to do some grow room tweaks to get it dialed in properly. But other than that I plan to try this same 2 Quart slurry with a 3" sub depth and cased tubs. This was an extremely fun experiment. I plan to take it to the next level in the next few months. I'm fairly confident this is repeatable and will get past 3 flushes. I am also confident that the contam ratio won't be any different than any other method I have used. I'd put my money on it. The only obstervation that I believe would cause an issue is if you use larger size grain like Rye berry or Oats. The size of the inner uncolonized grain ends up being too much exposure for contams to set in. The smaller millet or wbs grain doesn't quite get pulverized as much so the grain itself isn't as exposed. In addition, I believe that the drill bit blender wasn't as powerful as my oster is. So it did not break up the grain as much as it would have had I used the oster blender. I think using the hand drill on the oster wide mouth blade attachment is ideal for this method.

Nothing special, just a mushroom jar grow.

Spawn was a sliced up agar plate that already had transfers taken and was allowed to overgrow,  and a small sprinkle of WBS that was stuck to the side of a spawn jar after spawning.  Less than 1 tbsp WBS for sure.

No noticeable bacteria.  Suggests that spawning agar directly to a bulk sub can actually work, no need for sterile tech past inoculation of the plate.

You'd probably need a shit ton of agar though

This wasn't even one of my intended novelties, just thought it was kinda charming.  Heh.

And actually it wouldn't be the first time I spawned agar to coir and had it fruit so, not that much agar, actually.  I bet an LI would take hold pretty well and at least push out a few fruits.  I have an agar plate (in a 1/4 pint jar) I cased with CVG as well, that is pinning right now.

My bottle tek is basically agar LI to CVG. The CVG is supplemented with oats but the CVG colonises fine as well.

There you have it.  I put some LI to straight coir once and it was a little too wet so it didn't work out but, it surely would.  I wouldn't waste your time doing it on just coir though, Gyo.  May as well give it some gusto.

Granted, for novelty grows, coir is your best friend.  Can stuff almost anything with it.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21084210#21084210

i got 32 grams off 2nd flush. i have to dump the tub now but it worked through 2 flushes and after the 2nd i dunked the tub and its been 3 days and its looking great. but unfortunately i have to dump it bc some family is in town not bc of contams.

Second flush off shot glass grow ( I know it's been done b4 but had extra spawn so decided screw it)

First flush was 11 wet grams, this one only two little mushies.

Also did a glass grow with extra spawn that had tons of bacteria on it so I stuck it in a glass and a two litter bottle cut in half with perlite and a ziplock bag over top to keep moisture in. Actually gave me some 6 inch tall mushrooms weighed in at 84 grams wet.

Can't really see the glass under the little canopy

This bacteria ridden spawn had mycelium grow up the side of the glass and produce a mushroom that grew off the side of the glass with no substrate underneath.

Probably common but I'm new so it was cool to see for the first time!
