ok here is an update on my wbs 1 quart slurry. 2 pins began to form today. i see a bunch of knots also. no signs of contamination. you can find images on the log below from the op in this thread.

the image below this paragraph is one of the 1 pint wbs to 1 pint water slurry tubs. it began to fruit in one tub. so i want to show you the failed attempt. although they did not fully colonize they did not contaminate. it is quite funny actually. i hope to get the recipe to get decent yield on the next go around. im going to make some water volume adjustments as well. this substrates moisture content is a little low. so i think that will ruin the yield. but if it will grow ill make the adjustment on the next trial.
here is the failed attempt that didnt colonize the sub 100% this has 1 pint wbs grain slurry to 1 pint volume water. this was slurried into 10 quarts cvg.

This is really cool...
I wish I could take as casual approach to growing out in the open. I grow many different plants and love to cultivate, nurture, and watch things grow and unfold in their natural beauty. The ol' shrooms hold the same fascination yet due to some silly laws it just isn't ok to grow like this unless you have a lot of privacy.

You can grow and nurture all the oyster, lions mane, shiitake, portobello... etc that you want in the open. But that wouldn't be any fun now would it :smirk:

Oh buddy - this is awesome!  I've been wanting to try something like this for a while!  I have a few planted terrariums with dart frogs and have been thinking about something similar.
