Easiest method of growing

I'm interested in trying my hand at growing. Does anyone have any suggestoins? Meaning, a good strain to start with, easy method of growing, and where to acquire the supplies needed. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes, I have done a good amount of research on growing but i feel that this kind of thing is best learned from people who have done it before and are familiar with the procedures. I want to be as cautious as possible as I don't want to end up ingesting something that is going to cause my body any problems. Just trying to be safe.....;o)

well mushrooms are poisonous and should be eaten with very much consideration.

Check out the suppliers links. Most have detailed information on what the growing difficulty is with each strain. Then once you have a strain in mind you have to decide which method you want to grow them with. Easy-cake, Moderate-casing, Difficult-straw/compost. Once you have decided which method you want to try, then ask us how to do which ever growing process you select, and we will try to give you the best way to accomplish your goals.:)bluhoney

I really aprreciate the help. I had an absolutely incredible experience this weekend with shrooms. It was actually my first time and I have to say that the only word to describe it was incredible.....lol Have to love mother nature......:o)

do this without fear of legal reprisal.

heres a pretty good starting system, at least thats mho. http://www.shroomwizard.com only problems i found is he is skimpy on sterilization. which is a very major factor. he is also great about answering any questions ya have, and he WONT flame ya for asking newbie questions

*** note *** i just read the fungi fun link above..dunno why i hadnt found it till now. this is a MUCH better method.. i would opt to go with this one( and will on my next attempt.... but i would still check out the wizard, and any other site you find, to much knowledge aint a bad thing .

LOL, ok, ok everyone lets calm down. Ok you need some suggestions on strains and growing. Here goes:)
Buy a spore syringe of the B+
* its a forgiving strain and will let the beginner try*
!Go to the grow find section to locate a supplier that has the spores!
Buy some Brownrice flour
*Available at healh food stores*
Buy a Pressure cooker
*size doesnt matter  hehe*
Buy some wide mouth canning jars

Buy a can of lysol, latex gloves, dust mask.

Buy a bag of vermiculite

Buy a bag of Perlite

Buy 2 bottles of H2O2

Buy 1 bottle of rubbing alchohol

Buy a shoebox size rubbermaid container

Buy a large rubbermaid container big enough to hold your shoesize container and still have plenty of room.

Buy a bag of finch seed

Now Lets begin.
1 Get a large pot and fill half way with finch seed.
2 fill it up with water
3 Now simmer the seed stir every once and a while
4 add water until the seed double in size
5 now drain and pour seed in large mixing bowl
6add about 1/2 cup of brown rice flour to the mix
7 add 1 cup or more of vermiculite until the mix isnt sticky
8now fill your pint jars half full of the mix dont pack it
9 take your lids and turn them rubberside up and screw on loose.
10 put in pressure cooker
11 follow cooker directions(on adding water) put lid on
12Leave the jiggle thing off and heat til you see steam from the jiggle stem
13Now put the jiggle thing on and cook for 45 minutes at 15 PSI
14 Let cool
15 take lysol and spray down bathroom real well
16 after lysol settles, bring in cooker and spore syringe
17 MAKE SURE NO LYSOL FUMES ARE PRESENT BEFORE PROCEEDING
18lite a candle and sit it on the sink beside cooker
20put on dust mask and gloves and a hat
MAKE SURE YOUR CLEAN
21Now take off lid and set a jar on the sink
22 take the syringe and heat the end til its glowing red
23 shake the syringe(a drop or two will come out and cool the tip)
24 NOw with a quick movement barely open the lid then squirt about 1cc in the jar
25 tighten the lid and shake vigorously
26 now loosen lid and put in a clean,dark, 86degree place(styrofoam cooler works well)
27 repeat for all jars
28 now wait a week and then check jars for white growth
29 anything else, throw out
30 shake jars if you see white slightly
31 wait until jars fully turn white
32 when fully covered buy some peatmoss
33 buy some hydrated lime
34 take the shoebox container CLEAN it with H2O2
35take the jars and dump the cakes out and break them up in the pan
36make an even layer 2inches of the white stuff.
37 cover with aluminum foil and put in dark warm place for 4 days
38Now it should have grown back together if not a few more days will do.
39 now take a bowl and pour some peatmoss in itand add a few tablespoons of lime in it.
40 add water until it is soaked good.
41 add enough water until the moss only squeezes out a few drops.
42 put in an oven safe pan and cover
43cook at 300 degrees for 1 hour
44let cool
45 take the container holding the white stuff and add a layer of 1 1/2inch of the peatmossover the top of the whitestuff(mycelia)
46 now take your large container and CLEAN it with lysol and wipe clean
47 take your bag of perlite and fill with the 2 bottles H2O2 and water.
48then drain and add a 2inch layer in the bottom of the large container.
49put your whitestuff(mycelia) and peatmoss covering(casing layer) thats in the small container in the big one on top of the perlite.
50 put the lid on and put in a 75degree, it can vary in temp but not to hot,place with some light source.
51give it atleast four hours of some type of light a day.
52 take the lid and fan twice a day for air exchange
53 if walls of large container are dry then its to dry and you need to spray the insides of the walls with H2O2/water solution
54 kepp this up and soon you will see pinns, then small mushrooms, then large ones
55 pick them and scrape old casing layer off then add another
56 you will see a few more flushes.
57 then start over and grow some more.:)bluhoney
