Easiest Newbie Strains
    #710219 -

Ok so im not a veteran but I have a bunch of casings under my belt and thought the new peeps would love to have the following information.

So far out of all the strains I have done I have found the following strains to be easiest to grow, and very forgiving toi newbies.

PES Amazonian - This one basically grows itself
Treasure Coast - This one too, just a little slower them PESA
Equador - Monster fruits, yet another on its own shroom
Gulf Coast - A step higher then the ones above but still pretty simple.
Acadian Coast - Nice even pased colonizer, A sit back and relax kind of cultivation experience
None of those needed babying by myself, they pretty much did there thing
And I strongly recommend them to newbies for there ease.

The following are strains that I would say are not newbie friendly only because my experience and what I have read online

Puerto Ricans - I have not succeeded with them, hard strain, needs babying
Cambodians - im still undecided on these, they seemed like a weak colonizer
Golden Teacher - another funny colonizer, that never makes it out the jars for me

There are more I have not tried, please add your opinions or experiences if you like

I must add dont let my number of posts fool you I am a newbie as well this is a great hobby though and I dedicate my time to knowing whats good or bad, it has made me good at the hobby and I dont have as many questions but a few arris3e from time to time. I really am not too willing to experiment anymore because I realize the way it has to be done is pretty much unmodifiable.
cant re-invent the wheel..

Great post!

Im on my first 6 cakes now and im doing PR's:( I ordered the syring before i knew anyting about them. Well theya re fully colonized now so there is no turning back. What was your trouble with PR's? What would you suggest i watch for or make sure i do? I am cold shocking because i heard they are hard to pinn and im dunking them to get bigger fruits.

I saw your PR thread where they were growing like spaghetti, i havent seen that before...strange!

Thanks!
Fd

I have nothing to contribute, but just wanted to bring your post up, because I find your post an interesting one for me (a newbie). And I would like people like Anno, who know many strains contribute to that post.

There may be no real answer to the question of what's the best, but if someone experienced could confirm or in-firm that idea... simply discuss it and make it clearer... that would be a good start.

LilMerlin, interested.

I would have to disagree with you on the Golden Teacher. They are some of the easiest grown mushrooms, and produce some of the largest and more potent fruit.

Good luck

I'm trying growing for the first time and I'm using Puerto Ricans. Ten jars and no contams yet. Just birthed them and my first pins are showing. They seem to be a bit slow but they haven't been a difficult strain. We'll see how they yield.

Tasmanians are a breeze. The mycelium destroys millet, and it rips through coir like nobody's business. Maybe a little prone to overlay, but fruits like a raging weasel.....

Can't say enough about these.....Friend of my cat tried TC and Mex for a first try and had good success, also.....

I have to say that my Puerto Ricans have been very kind to me. They're the first of my casings that got an even pin set and no problems fruiting even in this damned heat. My other strains are suffering but they're fruiting beautifully.

I think that everyone will have a particular strain that grows well for the conditions they have going on in their set-up.

For me, EQ is the only strain I have used so far. It is very forgiving and seems to grow all by itself.

I will be trying Hawaiian soon, my 12 jars are almost ready.

In reply to:

I've never had a problem with Cambodians colonizing slow.
I've had smaller fruits sometimes.
But they have a great trip to them!!!
