This is not a new tek. It's Hippi3's invitro (AKA the neglect tek) tek. PF even put it on their website with a credit to Hippi3. It can be used with good success, and I have myself used it with modest success growing thai and b+ mushies. With multiple flushes yeilds are comparable to regular cakes in a terranium. The only real downside is that your jars are tied up for longer periods. Yeilds are considerable better with casings. It's the easiest way, really, that's why it was dubbed the neglect tek. can that be used with PS b+ strain? I could remove the dry verm and just let em grow upwards. Ill probably just leave one jar like this and put the rest in a fruiting chamber

whoa theres enough shrooms in there to make an elephant trip!
the jars have been turned upsidedown? also some of the shrooms look squashed.
does this inhibit full growth? Id still try it if more than 2 of my jars survive
I have a 6 quart shoebox tank, I can put a bottom layer of moist verm and sit the cakes on it and keep the lid on, or maybe should I leave it open to allow room?

it's gonna be hard to get those mushrooms harvested completly, most likely when you try to pick them, they will break in half leaving part of the shroom stuck inbetween the jar and the cake. :confused:  chronic tek is a whole lot better. :cool:

That is far from a new tech .
I remeber back in school days , meeting some cat that grew 50, 1 gallon sized jars at one time ,"hippie method" is what they called it , but I am sure if you go back further you would find ever since indoor growers have been around  , and had glass jars to use , is when that started .
Is a lot more tricky requires alot more attention , i.e. contam risk way higher , humidity harder to control , overlay more likely to occur , lots of wasted materials , is very inefficient in the gal method .  :cool:

After Running across the Hippie invitro tek at PF I decided to try it once with one PF cake jar. After the month and a half colonizing and pinning time I decided to crack the lid open to let in fresh air. I knew it wasn't a sterile enviorment but the cake was colonized and I had 4 baby shrooms growing so I thought it would help. Anyway as soon as I opened it- there was a vacum and the cake and my babies truned green so I opened it and smelled it. It smelled kinda sour but not really rank. They never grew anymore and I chunked it. Whats the problem here?

My friend wanted to try a birdseed cake invitro like in your picture. I told him about what mine did but he still did it hoping it doesn't do the same.
