INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Nov. 9, 2014) – A child shot another child on the north side overnight Saturday and the victim has died. It happened just after midnight in the 1700 block of Century Circle South in the Oakbrook Park apartment complex.

Police say a 5-year-old boy was shot by a sibling who is younger than 10. Their grandmother was watching three children, all siblings, in the apartment when one located a gun in the home.

When officers arrived they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was unconscious and taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health where the child died a short time later.

If only the 5 yo had a gun to defend himself...

PUEBLO - Pueblo police say a 3-year-old girl was accidentally shot by a 5-year-old who was playing with a gun left unattended by the mom's boyfriend.

The child was shot once and the bullet entered and exited without breaking any bones. The child underwent surgery and was listed in critical but stable condition.

It happened after 10 a.m. in the 3200 block of Colfax Avenue in Pueblo. According to police, a 9-year-old was in the backyard of the Colfax home with the other children and was able to manipulate the gun. The gun was then handled by a 5-year-old who pointed it at the 3-year-old and pulled the trigger.

When the 9-year-old was asked how he was able to manipulate the handgun, he said he learned it from video games like Black Ops, according to a police.

The victim's mother and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Adrian Chavez, were both home at the time of the shooting. Police say Chavez fled the scene before police arrived. He was later picked up for a no bond warrant for failure to appear.

Police say Chavez is facing charges of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Thank God it wasn't a burglar that shot the child.

Not sure to what logic you are referring or where I mentioned a ban. Reading what was not written could be a sign of neurological issues.

A 2-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his mother after he reached into her purse at a northern Idaho Walmart and her concealed gun fired, authorities said Tuesday.

Veronica J. Rutledge, 29, was shopping with her son and three other children, Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman Stu Miller said. Rutledge was from Blackfoot in southeastern Idaho, and her family had come to the area to visit relatives.

She had a concealed weapons permit to protect herself from bad guys. Miller said the young boy was left in a shopping cart, reached into his mother's purse and grabbed a small-caliber handgun, which discharged one time.

Deputies who responded to the Walmart found Rutledge dead, the sheriff's office said.

Prosecutors are deciding whether or not to try the toddler as an adult.

*Irony Alert*

Rutledge was a member of the conservative women’s group the Independent Women’s Forum. They say that a ban on high-capacity magazines would hurt a woman’s ability to fight back against potential attackers.

In a statement, IWF senior fellow Anna Rittgers suggested that by banning high-capacity magazines and semiautomatic weapons, women will not be able to fight back. ”It often takes several shots to stop one attacker,” Rittgers writes. “If the maximum magazine capacity is 10 (or if all semiautomatic handguns are banned, but 6 shot revolvers remain), and a woman in danger has to stop and reload her weapon while trying to protect her children (who are likely hysterical at this point), it gives the bad guy an opportunity to react–potentially fatally.”

Problem was - she had a low capacity pistol.

That was one of my first thoughts.

It may have been more of a problem if she had taken her holdall with one of her sub-machine guns in it that the little tyke could have wrapped his finger around.

Veronica's husband is named Colt.

Also of note was that her gun was only a .380 ACP and nearly all gun aficionados will tell you that a .380 is an ineffectual self defense round with little 'stopping power'.

As Wild Bill and Doc Holiday used black powder pistols with less muzzle energy than a modern .380, they must not have killed anyone and were definitely under-gunned.

Veronica's hubby says that she was not irresponsible in the way she carried. She was trained and certified for CC.

However, I doubt the tyke  was savvy enough to flip off the safety before capping her ass. Therein lies the danger of carrying 'cocked & locked'; safety off.

No.
I'm from Texas.

I hear that shit on the street everyday

But Cops use 38 specials and 9mm's to stop people all the time.
And people talk shit about those rounds too...

I think anything .22LR and over will do rather well with some accuracy.

Only rounds that don't have substantial shit talking for personal defence is 40acp and .45.

Let's just end guns and weapons all together. Besides, only pussies use weapons anyway. We can fight wars and everything else with our FISTS.

we're past that now.  what's the solution for dealing with the billions of guns worldwide, which can't (and let's face it, won't) simply be "ended".  More guns in USA than citizens.

How many times was Mike Brown shot with a .40 before he was stopped?

I personally carry a Neutralizer.

One blast of gamma radiation does the trick.
