lewts set everyone straight on canda's gun laws. damnit!
    #3318362 -

today i flipped out on a friend of mine that moved to the states about 10 years ago. anyway it seems that a lot of americans think canada is an anti gun country...WRONG. we're just an anti killing people country, we still got guns. and lots!

so heres the deal (keep in mind i only know about buying guns in washington state, so if it differs between states excuse me).

So here in canada all you need is to take a test. it is now called a PAL, possession acquisition license. there are courses that are highly recommended before taking. so you pay your fee and take your test. now you can go buy a gun in canada. you dont need anything else, although if you buy from certain stores they may ask for secondary id...not law.

so i went down to washington to look at guns with my friend who is a citizen there. what did he need? to be a citizen over 18. 21 for hand guns. the other difference is he can buy semi auto and 50 cal's etc...that is a way more tricky up here. we love guns, we aint so militia though.

so to make it easy for those, like myself, who dont like reading lots.

Canada
18 years OLD
Take a test
present PAL upon purchase.

i fail to see where all this anti gun shit about canada came from. just cause they need to be registered i suppose. but guess what if your buying new guns here its not needed as they are already registered and it will all be done upon purchase. it gets to be a bit of a pain with existing guns and registering.

so there canada has guns too, believe it or not....

I think a lot of people saw michael moore's columbine movie and thought he was saying that canadians didnt have nearly as many guns as americans, and that they generally werent interested in them

you guys can't buy semi autos, Canada won't be too hard to invade, bunch of revolvers and lever actions. ha

and how else are you going to cripple a satellite transmission dish from a half mile out, without 50 Cal's.?? ha

not at all... unless they're really stupid though...
his whole point was that canadians have just as much guns as americans but they simply don't use them to kill each other!

conclution?
americans = stupid hot heads
canadians = educated and peacefull

i don't know about anyone alse but if i ever had a thought of moving or spending a long piriod of time in the US it was totaly gone after watching that movie!
i wouldn't want to spend time in a place where people think violance is the answer to every problame...
i realize most/some of the people on this BB are much more peacefull americans then the majorety but EVEN HERE there are still people who belive it's better to have guns around for "protection"

haha didnt say we CANT uy them said it was tricky. lot more beaurocracy involved in real weapons. also got load limits on many guns.

micheal moores movie said flat out that "Canada is a gun loving nation". plain english he made a big deal about how much canada LOVED guns. teh thing was we didnt have the murders the states did and we have more guns per capita (accordign to his movie).

we may not have guns but when yal come up to invade youll see teh real guerilla warfare shit go down. discrentalled and drunk loggers plawing ur asses down...get enough whiskey and drugs in us and nothing can stop our axe weilding madness.

ya you can buy handguns. the other thing that gets somethings messy is carrying guns here...need more permits for handguns n shit. basically its all about giving the government a couple hundred bucks to fuck off.

what the registraion does is make it able for police to look on thier computers to see if the house they are approaching has any guns. basically, without any opinoins added.

but with my PAL i can carry a shotgun/riffle around anywhere as long as its not loaded.tehres also teh fact your ammo needs to be locked, but it can be a pop bottle with a plastic lock on it or somthing. just "locked" not un openable.

we do have the right to bear arms after we take an idiot test.

to see what kind of idiots we are...listening to some hunters i gotta wonder, how?

wow ! Bears and cougars ?!
Oh, made me thinking about (but nothing related to you ) what i just read today in the news: some stupid hunters just shot the last bear in France...well in fact it wasn't exactly the last, the little bear (because they killed a mother) could escape...but his chances to survive alone are not very big....isn't that a sad story ?

Why is it sad?

Who cares that much about bears?

It's hardly setting people straight when you give out misinformation.
Generally, the only time you'll be able to get a concealed carry permit, is if you're a trapper far up north.
Ammunition does not need to be locked up, unless it's with the firearm.
I'm not sure where you're getting this semi-auto stuff from. There's no more bureaucacy involved in purchasing one, unless it's a type on the restricted or prohibited list. And if it's on the restricted list, you just need your restricted license, which is easy to get.
There are .50 cals that are classified as non-restricted, so buying them is the same as buying a .22 plinker.
