I've been to gun ranges a lot and have never seen anyone being irresponsible or handling a gun unsafely. Just because you read about shit on the news doesn't mean all people with guns are like that. The other 99% of responsible gun owners don't make the news so you don't hear about them.

This was collated before the 9 yo girl shot her instructor to death with a machine gun in Arizona a few months later. It was legal (but retarded) for her to be allowed to handle such a weapon.

Very few people accidentally kill themselves with knives and suicide by knife is almost unheard of. Guns may not kill people, but it sure makes it easier.

Or maybe they thought they were firing lasers into a looped optical cable, then newton's laws may not apply.  I could understand how they would be confused.

First off, the only opinion that I stated in this thread was that even a supervised 9 year old should not handle a machine gun. Do you agree or disagree with this assessment?

Does that make me psychologically disturbed?

Gun owners are frequently the targets of professional victims because gun owners are willing and able to prevent their own victimization.

:shrug: just stupid people doing stupid things, they just chose to include guns in it :lol:

A lot of them seem like people giving a big gun to someone who has no experience and not training them how to use it at all and getting a laugh when they try and shoot it and it recoils back into them. I could see how many people fail to grasp the whole newtons law thing and not think about recoil when in the movies it looks so effortless and easy.

True. Some guy in another vid gives his skinny (read: weak) gf a S&W.500 and laughs when the enormous recoil drives the gun into her face. Fun was had by all.

It's been a couple months since I read the entire article but if I recall correctly it does not say people against guns are distrubed. It simply psychoanalyzes why many people are against guns

As far as this guy. He is part of a youtube channel about guns that has tens of millions of views. Most guns on that channel are not legal to purchase without a class III permit and even then they cost tens of thousands of dollars. It also said he manufactured suppressors. So clearly the people that hit him had incentive and knew he had the means to defend himself and came prepared. I don't think it is fair to compare this with your average self defence situation.

The average gun owner/ccp holder does not advertise they own guns, hence should they be burglarized/attacked the perp will not know if the person owns a gun and will likely not be prepared.

Her article was merely a heavily biased emotional rant with no evidential backing, played to a target audience.

She would be laughed at if she attempted to publish such nonsense in a respected psychiatric magazine, medical trade journal or as a white paper.

If you can see the trend then you'd need to make that argument for each of the those points above.

Banning guns would just increase crime (mexico..)

I honestly don't see anything wrong with owning a gun. If you legally own a gun, have never committed a felony, and are mentally sane. Why should that person not have the right to own a gun?

Most people who own guns aren't even out preaching like most of you assume. Plenty of us just own guns and that's that. Media will be media and make any group out to be insane simply for the attention it brings to that station.

of course not

But if I was going to break into a random house, mug a stranger, or rob a business I'd assume they would not have a loaded gun on them or one easily accessible.
