Where did we come from before we were born?

I am my body/brain, I don't have a non-physical mind/spirit. If my body dies, I die. My brain is everything, without my (living)brain I am nothing more than a tree. I don't fear death because I just can't experience death. If I'm wrong, I hope I meet god or the devil. Both interesting persons...

But what happens to the energy of your life? Energy cannot cease to exist, it has to take a different form.

I believe that death is the end of individual experience. It is the end of the illusion that we are separate from the rest of the world. The ego is destroyed, along with our conscious and subconscious mind, but the supeconscious is still there, as it is present in all things. I imagine it would be much like a level 5+ trip, except you wouldn't have your 5 senses. You would be pure consciousness. Of course, there's really only one way to find out...

We burn food, yes. If that's the life energy where you are talking about I have a simple answer to where that energy goes if I die: most of it is heat and the air around me will absorb my heat. My blood will stop streaming due to friction=> the kinetic energy of my blood will be converted into heat. Not very interesting: life energy...

heres what i think...
the exact moment between a living and dying or active brain and non-active brain,
our consciousness is catapulted into an ecstacic dream-like state, with lasts an eternity. This measure of infinity happens in that one split second. The moment is passed, in the eyes of the living. You appear to have died, and life goes on.
But...what appears to be a split second, gone, to a living human being, can actually last an eternity for the dying person.

Marinate on that

peace

I don't believe time exists at all except in the human mind, and death shall remove time from there as well.

If all your are is your body and brain(which is a physical part of the body) then you'd(you as in who you are, personality ect..) already be dead. Every single cell in your body has been replaced several times throughout your life. Conscienceness is the sum, that is greater then its parts, an effect of the parts, and the interaction of the parts with the rest of what is(but transcends its parts). The effect that conscienceness has on the rest of what is, ripples throughout what is, endlessly, and actually is a part of and contributes to what is endlessly, itself. So i imagine that am pretty much in line with what silver said. We are of the source, and we return to the source, leaving behind the delusion that we were ever seperate from the source. But why? and are "we"/ am "I" still aware? I have my theories.
Sincerely,
That which is, and has no choice but to be

Define "we" and quit assuming this "we" goes anywhere upon death.

Hehe, this is a nice thread, it is enjoying every once and awhile to just bounce back our thoughts on something that we have no possibillity of proving. Its got a laid back, not shouting kind of feel.  :smirk:

Myself, I believe that who we really are isn't this body and these thoughts and experiences. I believe that we are not even aware of who we are right now. This has all been a dream so far, and as soon as we piece together the pieces of the puzzle, we realize that we are only dreaming and we wake up.

I believe that we are a soul, a collection of energy that is powering this physical body. We are directly learning a LOT about the way the Universe flows. I also believe that we are all just a bunch of little leaves of energy that form just one branch of energy in a tree that is just one little cell in another tree.

I also think that it is possible to become aware of our true selves and then continue on from there on our quest known as evolution. There is a lot of shit that gets worked out in this reality we have right now. A lot of pressure on us since there are a positive orientation and a negative orientation. The negative orientation is not capable of evolving much further, and we must completely release it in order to continue our blessing known as life...

Just my opinion, though.
Peace.
