DNA: The universe's most intelligent computer?
    #2031131 - 10/21/03 11:54 PM (20 years, 5 months ago)

little is actually known about DNA, as far as in its totality.

my question is - if reincarnation and karma are both realities, then how could that be true unless DNA updates and changes itself based on specific variables?

Isnt the DNA for our birth already in our fathers sperm? Would that mean that our DNA is updated to suit our karmic needs when life is given?

I wish I knew more about DNA, and I hope someone understands what Im trying to say

"DNA updates and changes itself based on specific variables"

I don't know if its 'specific' variables that DNA deals with.... through evolution, DNA has CREATED its own variables..

DNA = God? hooray another definition....

I think maybe DNA acts as a quantum computer. I've read a few reports in the past couple years about large systems being able to maintain quantum cohesion. I think someone even looked at using RNA for building a quantum computer...

I don't know much about DNA, but from everything I've read there seems to be two different approaches. Some believe that it's easy to change DNA, and that the parents actions, needs, manipulations can change DNA drastically so that the child will have already adapted to the changes the father/mother strived to manipulate in their lives. Others say that it is a long process, and that slowly mankind changes their DNA based on its living manipulations/needs to adapt.

But I don't know much about this so I could be flat out wrong.

Clever, thats what I was getting at, but my original question was this.

How can karma and past lives exist if the DNA was ALREADY CREATED before you died in your previous past life?

How then can karma influence your life if its already been mapped out?

DNA doesn't update itself, it mutates.

Little flaws in DNA are mutation. The changes are chaotic, they are not necessarily improvements.

When some poor kid is stillborn with his heart on the outside of his body, that's the exact same process as how we got our opposable thumbs.

I don't know much about DNA, but from everything I've read there seems to be two different approaches.

which both seem to be completely off the wall...

Some believe that it's easy to change DNA, and that the parents actions, needs, manipulations can change DNA drastically so that the child will have already adapted to the changes the father/mother strived to manipulate in their lives.

some people are very misinformed about biology apparently.

Others say that it is a long process, and that slowly mankind changes their DNA based on its living manipulations/needs to adapt.

mankind has yet to fool around with our own DNA. we'll probably start doing it soon though i suspect.

our DNA mutates chaoticly without any specific end in mind. it does this on its own in the normal process of replication. some mutations are good; the great majority are bad.

eh... quite a bit is actually known about it.

i know what you're trying to say...

it boils down to this: the conventional idea of reincarnation is BS.

Yeah, that is total bullshit actually. This is how people used to think that animals adapted, before Darwin came along.

They thought that giraffes got their long necks because they stretched them out, reaching for the high trees.

It's Lamarcke's idea, and some are starting to think that it is possible, it's controversial and not accepted yet in most circles. I'll try and find a link.

http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/history/lamarck.html

Lamarck died 175 years ago, 30 years before Origin of the Species was published. Hardly a new idea that people are just coming around to.

i did a chemistry lab once where we determined the mutagenic effects that mescaline had on dna. I remember it being quite significant, but the real world application of such data i dont know.

obviously. i meant that some people now days think it might be possible. I read it in a pretty sketchy book about Atlanteans changing themselves into sea beings so it's probably bullshit, but i'll search for a link anyway because the book was quoting scholars in that part.

Yeah, we actually know a lot about DNA. We have the whole human genome mapped now. We know the locations of 1000s of genes on chromosomes and their funtions. It's actually estimated that within 10 years we'll have 99% of the genes mapped out on all human chromosomes.

Anyhow, what I think you're asking is if we have predetriming DNA from our mothers and fathers... how do we uniquely reincarnate from one vessle to another? Well, I really don't want to touch this question from a scientiffic prespective and then mix it with a spiritual reference. BUT, do you actually think that your genome has anything to do with your soul? Your body is just a vessle for your soul to travel in during your physical time in this world.

No one has even remotely touched on my question yet, and I honestly dont think I can explain it well enough.

Think.....reincarnation could not exist , unless you skipped a generation. The reason being, is karma. How could karma be a reality (karma that spans lifetimes anyway) if reincarnation occured shortly after death.

Actually - I just figured out the answer to my own question!!!!!!!!!

A mans sperm isnt with him from the time he is born, not at all. It is constantly replacing itself.

Hmm...i posted a thread, and answered my own question. Maybe I should have thought more indepth about the question - or perphaps it was all your responses that caused me to realize ....

Awesome! I love this forum
