Meditation- Going Deeper
    #20125723 -

Ok, so ive been trying to get more into meditating lately and I have a bit of a problem.  After maybe a half-hour or so I find myself in a nice trance, then I begin to go deeper.  The problem is, as soon as I realize im falling deeper into trance, I am immediately pulled out of it.  Then I will wait another 5-10 minutes and when I start to go deeper, I immediately come out of it as soon as I realize im going deeper.  It feels like im on the verge of either sleeping or an obe, not really sure, but I feel my consciousness falling or moving.  Also, I sometimes get visions around the same time, and when I see them, I get excited that ive reached this deep, but cant get deeper because I get pulled out of this state as soon as I notice it.  This also happens when I try to lucid dream.

Have any of you experienced this before?  How do I go deeper?  Do I just need to keep practicing until I can stay calm and let whatever is about to happen just happen?

Download a pdf or something of the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Honestly has the most thorough explanation of all the different ways to properly meditate (including going deeper) than any other book I have picked up. Just make sure its not the Tibetan Book of the Dead you are downloading.

Tibetan Book of Living and Dying says that if you start to fall asleep then lift your head and your gaze slightly upwards, and if your thoughts start to wander then turn your gaze slightly downwards. Rinse and repeat as needed.

I used to have the same problem both when trying to lucid dream and also while tripping. when I learned how to let my mind go and just "ride the snake" while tripping on lsd or mushies it really helped when running into the problem while lucid dreaming. don't have expectations, don't have goals. just be. takes a lot of practice but at the same time it doesn't take any effort. the opposite actually.

and yes I would say lucid dreaming and meditation are very similar

good luck
