Reincarnation, Afterlife, Delay times?!

So I believe in some form of reincarnation, I believe we all are masses of energy hosting ourselves in our current bodies, and once the body dies, we find another host.
I understand some people have diff beliefs but I had some questions in regards to peoples opinions about this theory.
So if we all get reincarnated, do you think as soon as you die, your energy almost suddenly finds itself another host? Person, animal, insect, or alien.... or is there a delay, hours, days, weeks? Is it like the dmv where the wait feels like forever and its only been an hr? Or does our energy travel so fast its like time travelling and we get reincarnated into the future or past? Do we get reincarnated into this same universe, or a parallel one? Do we somehow get to choose, or is it random where you go?....is there a waiting room, and we all have to take a #? Can someone say "nooope, too many ninja reincarnations today, we can only give you pirate or janitor?" Does your past life, and the choices you made effect your next life?....and when its all said and done and you're a fresh newborn (any species) is that what you dream about? the past?
or what if we all die, and that's it...darkness.

Your assertions are not a theory and don't even rate as a hypothesis.

If you are using the standard definition of energy, then it turns into heat as the body decomposes.
But I am going to guess you are using some made-up personal definition of energy which precludes actual discussion.

It's not a theory, and it's absolute silliness.

Veritas used to say that if there is reincarnation she believed that the at the moment of death we immediately rebirthed. For some reason I find that idea truly frightening.
Neither of us really believed it though. Reincarnation of soul or personality seems very far fetched and ego-centric.

I once strangled a dude and less than a second later a baby was born in Bangladesh. Hard to argue with that!

In the book
"Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives"
Dr. Michael Newton covers this topic extensively via case studies from his MANY years or doing "between lives" hypnotic regression with patients.

Or you can view a PDF copy of the book here:

OK. Now link the peer-reviewed journal entry on his studies along with the one showing that hypnotic regression is a valid modality.

I already included a probably borderline immoral link to his PDF...
I leave the rest to you
......it's all just food for thought......
Never hurts for someone like OP to dive fully into the known data on a subject before making their own conclusions on the validity of their own ideas.
OH and don't forget about this article regarding Dr. Marcia Angell from Harvard about how it's
"No longer possible to believe much of clinical research published"
http://ethicalnag.org/2009/11/09/nejm-editor/
Peer-reviewed publications are met with just as many limitations as they are met with merits of legitimacy...
In the end you have to learn to trust yourself and your own experiences and the data you gather from a multitude of so called "credible" and "uncredible" sources...
Data is data, it doesn't need to be peer reviewed to inspire an idea within yourself...
Even if it is completely fallacious it is up to the individual to discover their own critical thinking skills when researching fringe ideas.

Reincarnation in Hinduism can take place one very large scales, such as trillions of years. There are various karmic indicators that determine what type of animal a person will reincarnate as and how long it will take. It's easy to suggest that such knowledge is mystic (dubious).
In contrast Buddha did not believe in a personal self, even in a person's actual life and certainly not in some sense that would migrate from body to body, and yet Buddha did acknowledge reincarnation as a phenomena of another sort.
Hinduism must be seen as allegorical or taken in faith while Buddhism defines samsara as a non-personal quality of existence. It can be seen at work in the world and yet needs no mystical explanation. During a person's life their personalities will change, often abruptly. A person may reincarnate many times before a particular body dies.
