Bought my first handgun today! * 4

Thank you all for your advice this morning, I took it into account while choosing what to get.

She set me back $429 brand new and wow! What a beautiful gun.

Got the Springfield XD .40 caliber and some hollow point rounds to go with it so harming others through the walls wouldn't be a problem

Nice, my roommate and my friend both have XD40s, they're good handguns. I had no problem hitting the targets at 50 yards my first time shooting it.

$429 is a good price.

It's the sub compact. I am going to take the concealed carry course but probably not carry on the regular JUST yet because my gf HATES guns :lol:  she'll probably warm up to the idea once she has been familiarized with it

It's mainly for home defense.


I can't wait to shoot my new baby :datass:

Why?

Secondly, what is the point of getting your CCL or CHL if you don't plan on carrying constantly? It is a lot of trouble to go through to for something that you don't plan on using regularly. It just kind of adds to the list of things to grab before I leave; phone, wallet, keys, gun, watch, and knife.

I would hardly say that it is easy to the point of having no problem doing it your first time out.

First time shooting a subcompact .40 caliber at 150 feet accurately (less than an 6" spread) is highly unlikely.

Nice gun, the XD series gets great reviews.
Keep in mind that if you get a CHL that any time a police officer runs you through their system, for instance during a traffic stop, it'll tell the officer you have a CHL and he'll assume you're armed.  You don't want that kind of trouble if you're ever transporting any goods.  In some states they can even do a quick check of the interior for guns.
It'll also put you on a list of gun owners, if you aren't already.  If anti-gun laws go into effect soon, CHL holders will be getting a knock at the door.  But that's just my paranoid theory.

I took a guy out shooting on his first time with a pistol, he used 4 different guns on a 25yd indoor range, with the target at the back he put one shot in the shoulder and the next several shots were eyes and eyebrows, his second go with another gun was to try and complete the smiley face

the range master asked if he was interested in shooting competition for
their team. dont think for a second that a novice cannot shoot accurately

Yeah I completely got rid of any drugs in my home, especially manufacturing-related items that may or may not have been there. I knew it had to be one or the other. And I'll definitely not have it while transporting!!

be careful in a quarry, ricochets do happen especially around stone
