Is this common?
    #16347506 -

After just shy of 6 years, I had my last day at my job. Now, for this entire time I have only very rarely dreamt of the workplace. Usually once I'm done with the workday, the workday is done. It hasn't been my experience that it follows me home. That is, until last night. I laid down to sleep and like a freight train the memories of the last 5+ years came flooding in. Memories of customers, strangers, coworkers, struggles and heart warmth. For about 2 hours they just kept going. And I'm a guy who likes to sleep so this felt like forever

But is this common? It reminds me of the common adage about life flashing before your eyes when you're close to death. It was like this chunk of my life coming to an end resulted in an involuntary review. Weird.

Yeah, it's happened to me when beginning a new job and when ending an old one. Don't dream about them when I'm in the middle of them.

reminds me of last year when i went to 10 days of buddhist teachings. the teachings were great but didn't really sink in until the first night after getting home from them. that night i had a series of dreams, felt like tons of information downloading into me, rearranging and aligning all the info from the teachings - like a complete recap of everything mentioned but with more clarity than when i heard them in person. it was neat :sun:

i think this is just the unconscious mind's way of sorting through information after a transition, maybe? your mind felt the need to process all the experiences you went through at work for some reason, maybe to reorganize the memories in a way more fitting now that you no longer work there? in any case, the mind is quite powerful !
