How can he be considered one of the most evil men in all of history? Why are any of his subordinates not equally evil? Did they not have a choice? Did they not all participate?

haha, funny fucker! The success of Hitler changing a nation is very complex and entails hegelian dialectic and the power of ideals and charisma and not the least timing. History repeats itself regularly because we are all too stupid to remember where we fucked up. I'm sure if you live long enough you'll experience something similar soon/eventually.

I think I see what you are driving at Orgone and Hitler in my opinion is a perfect example of just how powerful belief is.

A vast majority of the people in Germany shared Hitler's sentiments at the time, even the highly regarded philosopher Martin Heidegger was fully supportive of Hitler's agenda.

We all look at Hitler and the Nazi's as evil, but if you were raised in that same political climate, odds are you would have believed the exact same damn thing. There's thousands of pictures of ordinary housewives with children spitting on jews and swooning over SS soldiers.

We all look at these people and wonder how in the world they could have been so evil, odds are that in the future people will look back at us and wonder how we could have been so fucking dumb. Our conditioning runs so deep that we are not even aware of it.

Do these women look like the personification of evil?

I'd say the whole of Nazi Germany obviously gave Hitler his stepping stone to become the most evil man in human history.  Sure, they could have said that but they would have died.  Germans were pissed off due to the unfair nature of the Treaty Of Versailles.  They let him do whatever he wanted so Hitler can take a lot of the blame.  The Germans knew what he was about, and they let it happen.

Hitler also had called most of the shots in the war room.  He would make stupid decisions like killing thousands of soldiers from the Ukraine who wanted to join the Nazis during Operation Barbarossa.  Thousands of motivated soldiers who wanted to fight the Soviets and he had them killed or sent back to Germany as slave labor.  His subordinates are not equally attributed to being the most evil, because Hitler was the leader and mouth piece.

There were numerous plots against his life.  He had a load of body guards and would rarely tell anyone except his inner circle where he was going to be, and would always randomize his traveling routes.
