I'm sorry you don't agree with the polls. I tried to make options for everyone. You can make your own polls if you like.

I think the soul is consciousness itself. The conscious awareness that we have. The soul would be seperate from the body yet a part of it at the same time, for the time being anyway. It would be composed purely of energy. That is..if it existed....

No offense, but it doesn't really seem like you were trying that hard... if someone believed there were no aliens at all they would have to click on this:

"No, aliens don't exist... we are alone in this Universe (with 60 billion stars in the milky way and billions of galaxies)"

Which actually contains an argument against their belief. Sounds pretty biased to me.

Because if I were to believe in any god, it would be love. That is what everyone seeks, even if they don't know it. I equate love with warmth, and stars emit warmth. Can you see my reasoning? It may be a bit hard to follow on account of the intuitive aspects.  :smile:

Seems to me it would be difficult to accept the idea of a soul and not accept the idea of God (or vice versa)

By the way, I did not vote on aliens. I consider myself open minded, but lacking proof, am neither a believer or non-believer.

stars tend to have planets, or other various satelites orbiting them due to their powerful gravitational pull.

plants have various atmospheres. Different atmospheres harbor different life. trillions of satelites in this galaxy, maybe a few hundred livable.

Not everything in the universe is the same age. Other planets, including some with life, they could be thousands, or hundreds of thousands, or millions of years more advanced than we.

There are VAST amount of technologies which we have yet to discover, there is a thing called gravity we have yet to figure out. we still aren't sure exactally how space and time are intertwined. they might have this knowledge. this would allow massive distances to be covered in relativly no time.

by the way, we would be fools to think we are the only intelligent life in the universe. i dont think i have any doubters on that. (if so let me know). i belive we are all made up of the same stuff, energy. we all are made of the same thing, we are one, why bicker and fight over things that dont really matter (at least to me, but that is pretty self centered). look, whatever im not perfect, but love man, love......

I've got one last poll for now.

Let me define two life orientations.

Service-to-Self, the state of living for the betterment of yourself only. (To serve only yourself) This orientation requires you to live in constant fear of others, and yourself. You will spare no length to get ahead in any situation, even if it requires that you hurt someone else. In fact gaining control of other (service to self people) is what it's all about. It's all about power and control. You will be surrounded by other service-to-self people, and they will be your competition. You will always seek to gain power and control over others through fear tactics and intimidation. There are many strict and oftentimes rediculous rules to follow in this orientation. You are alone, you can only count on yourself.

Service-to-Others, the state of living to serve others. This orientation is centered in constant love, trust, and acceptance. You will have a role in your community, where you will live among other service-to-others, who are all helping each other. This orientation is all about love, helping each other, and living in peace and harmony with each other and your environment. You will always seek to gain wisdom through group unity and love. The community functions as a single integrated unit wherein all functions are running smoothly because of total group cooperation. There is only one rule and that is to respect everyone's right to free will..as long as your free will does not interfere with someone elses, you may do as you wish. In this orientation, you rely on the help of other people, but you put forth all your effort into helping others as well.

So with that basic introduction. If you had to choose an orientation for the rest of your material life, which would you choose?


Life Orientation
Service-To-Self
Service-To-Others
I am not ready to make such a big decision that would effect my life in such a way.

Hmmm it's a pity that not everyone believes the same way.

I have to admit I was surprised at the results.

It seems that most of us agree on these matters. I would have expected a more even split.

honestly, i havent been here in a while, but remarks like that make people not want to respond, remember Mr_Mushrooms, you dont know everything...or anything.  we all are here together, and we all are the same...

Mr_Mushrooms, you dont know everything...or anything.

I think Mr. Mushrooms has just read a lot literary works and such. I (imo) wouldn't say he's 'smart' because of this. But he might think differently about what smart is.
